As usual, I was too lazy to do the freehand. I guess all the banners will get it at the same time, down the line.

No, that's the hunter's blood vulture from the stonehorn miniature.

I feel like WH Ogres are too lazy to paint their banners as well, so you're all good until you get to a solid number of gnoblars... Love the BSB. He'll look amazing in your army.

I love them. I've always liked the idea of maneaters as a model and unit. They have so much potential. And you've done just that. They're 4 individuals, each with their own personality, that all seem to fit together. And the painting is very clean and makes the models pop.

Thanks Rod, this is a very pleasing compliment :D
I am a bit gutted OK are not supported in TOW, but will not stop painting them, I am enjoying doing these models more than anything else.

I am stuck painting butchers - some of the ugliest models ever.
This is dragging on and on and every model I see becomes a welcome distraction.
So I am actually painting faster my remaining three man-eaters, and another two Ironguts (one being a banner).

And I have also built a quite cool transport box for my OK army... will show pictures of it at some point.

Boy, did those two butchers drag on...
But finally they are done.
Can't say I love the paint job, but they turned out OK, considering how ugly and unpleasant to paint were the models.
Now I have happily moved on to other things - got two extra Ironguts who will be my banner and champion - will move the old Ironguts banner to the Maneaters.

I'm not a big fan of the models themselves. They're not as good as the newer OK models. But your paint job did them justice. They look suitably menacing, and as if they are actually butchers. So well done!

Cheers Rod, we share the same opinion on these models.
Sadly the third party options I've seen are not great either.

And now for some new output: more Ironguts. As usual the freehand still needs to be done. It will be a dark red maw.

Master,

I am loving your paintwork. It's absolutely splendid.

Ogres had a bit of a hoodoo on me in 8th Ed. Enough that I began to develop an irrational dislike for the models. But these are so nice that I don't even think I'd mind watching them pound my silver helms to bits.

Bravo!

I for one would be happy for my ogres to be pounded by your superior tactical skills, were we to meet on the battlefield.
It would be both fun (despite the pounding) and instructive for me.
Alas, very unlikely to happen given the distance.

Can a high elf character ride a monster and also be a Battle Standard Bearer, and if so, how does it affect their abilities in battle?

Kind of you to say my man! No tactics any more though. Just impetuously charging things. West London is ready and waiting when you are!

In any case I’m excited to see this painting project progress. Ironblasters are horrible opponents but great models.

Lovely work on these! I really love seeing how well the cursed city ogres (that's where they're from right?) fit in too.

I've sold my red dragon on eBay!
Mix of sadness and... don't know exactly what. It was a good price, but I guess I could have been more ambitious.
Regardless, I have another 8th edition dragon to repaint, so...
...I also bought Imrik's dragon just today

The price for which I sold the red dragon more than covered the combined cost of the two models I now own, had I been a bit more ambitious it could have paid for all three dragons.

For now I am committed to the OK stuff though.
I am making good progress and the interesting models are coming soon: Ironblasters, Mournfang, Rhinox, Stonehorn and Thundertusk. (I may give the sabre tusks and the Gorgers a miss).

After that, even more monsters: Dragons (x2), Wyvern (x1) and Phoenixes (2x fire and 1x frost).

Nice, monsters are always cool. Though selling one to buy 2 back is a great way to increase your "to be painted" pile... ;)

Looking forward to the Wyvern. Is it the O&G one? I love that model. And why are you going for 2 fires and 1 frost?

I cannot resist a new dragon! I thought the red one would never sell, when it went I was so shocked that I had to replace it.

The wyvern is the 6th edition metal one. I have a picture of it primed a few pages back.

About the phoenixes, I already have a frost, and have feather and head bits for two fires and one frost.
The body and wings of two are cloned from a single original.

The last two Maneaters are done.
Which brings me to 8, that could form two units of four.

Nice! These last two do seem to follow the GW mantra of "Skulls! Skulls, skulls and more skulls! Skulls everywhere!" ;)

I like them. They're flavorfull and blend in nicely with the rest of the unit, even though they're very individual models.

What are you planning for the banner?

Black freehand. Not sure yet if it is going to be a maw or something less classic, like some kind of mountain or a gauntleted fist.

By the way, the two iron blasters are progressing well. I'm having to paint them partially assembled because it is difficult to reach inside.

For Maneaters, I would personally go a bit less classic. They're meant to have travelled the world, and to have adopted the customs and fashion etc of the lands where they've worked and travelled. Something a bit more outlandish then fits. Maybe an ogre version of something chaos-y or undead-y, given the models you have.

That's just me of course. I'll keep an eye on this space to see what you come up with :)
