This came up in another thread. I responded to an army list post saying that mages couldn't take magic weapons. It looks like that may be different in this edition.
Am I missing something, or is my dragon mage about to get a sword of might?

There is no reason to ever take anything for close combat on a Dragon Mage, thats not his job even with a dragon under him.
But you're wrong, Mages have always been allowed any magic weapon, especially magic bows or like the Dark Elves' Magic Crossbow (always hits on 2+, 3x multishot, S4).
The only exception for Magic Items on mages, is Magic Armour - if they can't take mundane armor or mundane shield they cannot take magic armor or magic shield.
And this is for both 7th and 8th editions
