Okay finally an update on the Woodsmen! I have fully completed painting 5 of them and overall pretty happy with how the conversion and paint job worked out.

I have also converted 5 more (slow process), along with the Musician and one guy wielding the White Lion blade double handed. hopefully more variation to come soon as I look to convert another 10 along with a Standard Bearer.

They look great. As if they were originally made this way by GW, and not that they're conversions. I also like the variaty they have and the paint scheme is simple but effective. Great job!

that is great feedback thanks Prince. I really feel my putty and conversion work is still pretty rookie, but I always have a desire to make sure I try to be seamless in my conversions so that they look as close to a GW original as I can. Probably why I am so slow at getting these guys together at them moment  .

Brilliant job, these really look appropriate to the fluff.

My experience with kit-bashing and modeling projects like this is that they're the best way to learn how to actually do this sort of thing. You can keep wondering, reading, and thinking about it, but nothing beats getting stuck in and just doing it. And with each model you learn a bit and improve.

My exact experience! I tend to really procrastinate when it comes to doing a new conversion, and this is mainly because I don’t want to make a mistake or get it wrong. When making the Lion pelts this time around I feel I I got better after making a few and then I made a few new areas with some of the latest ones (like trying to use putty that was already too dry for example).

I think the two biggest things I learned about working with greenstuff are that it doesn't stick to wet tools (or wet fingers...). Simply dip your sculpting tool in water and you're good to go. And, sometimes you want your greenstuff to harden just a bit when sculpting it. Not all the way of course. But get it into the rough shape you need, let it sit for a few minutes (like 5-10, depending on your type of greenstuff of course), and it's a bit easier to handle and will hold its shape a lot better.

Keep us updated on the progress of your conversions :)
