Finished the Swordmasters today. Might paint some AoS or Warmaster elves next. Let's see where my mood takes me

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
Greetings, fellow Asur!
Some of you might have noticed my latesz army list discussion in the army list section (viewtopic.php?t=101869). Well, that game took place yesterday as a 2v2 with each player having 1k points.
I played together with an O&G player, who fielded a black ork warboss, a block of black orks, a night goblin BSB, a night goblin shaman at level 3, a small unit of night goblins with one fanatic, a wolf chariot and a giant.
Our opponents were playing Bretonia (duke on royal pegasus, level 4 sorceress, 3 peg knights, two units of 5 low level knights and 10 skirmishing bowmen) and Dwarfs (king on shield bearers, hammerers, thunderers, quarrelers, warriors at 10 each, an organ gun and five firedrakes).
Some not some good decisions (not aggressive enough Swordmasters movement, misjudgement of shooting ranges and putting my level 2 mage in range of the Brets' level 4 to be basically neutered were probably the biggest) coupled with slightly better dice rolling of our opponents (mostly blasted dwarf shooting
) and our opponents did come up winning that one. But as a learning game it was very enjoyable nonetheless

My Elves of Silvermoor Skycutter arrived today and I got to work on it as long as the kids let me. Lovely model that I look forward to finish building and then painting

Wow I’m excited to see it assembled. Didn’t know you had also jumped into the line. It’s been great to work with so far on my end.Anduil of Elithis wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 12:07 am My Elves of Silvermoor Skycutter arrived today and I got to work on it as long as the kids let me. Is this the only model from the series you have so far?

Well, I actually only needed this model for an upcoming event in February, but I may have also ordered 10 Sisters while browsing the lineup

Really good quality. But after the Skycutter taking a 40cm dive and breaking one of the sails this morning, I am a bit concerned with those very thin parts on the Sisters, most of all the arrows.Turion Rilyaloce wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 4:49 pm How are the Sisters? The downside of the 3d print resin is definitely the brittleness. The Seaguard bowstrings I have to be very careful with.
Those sisters look great though.

Not yet. I will probably need to carefully drill and pin the broken piece. I think this will work, but will need some quiet moment.Turion Rilyaloce wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 7:49 pmOh noooooo, did you manage to repair it?Anduil of Elithis wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 10:32 am Really good quality. You may want to blend your resins or find one that isn’t as brittle. I’m part of a company that produces 3D printed miniatures, I can make a few recommendations if you’d like.

Thank you for the offer. But since I did not print them myself as I do not own a 3d printer, I am afraid I have to make do with what I can order from shops, unfortunately.TyrrenAzureblade wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 9:29 pm You may want to blend your resins or find one that isn’t as brittle. It's called The Nailon Realm, it's a small independent studio that produces very whimsical miniatures aimed at getting beginners into the hobby, so think big broad cartoony characters and monsters. https://nailonrealm.com/Turion Rilyaloce wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 12:00 amWhat’s the company?TyrrenAzureblade wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 9:29 pm You may want to blend your resins or find one that isn’t as brittle. Got around to finish the bases on these Reavers. I have no idea, however, where the 5th model went

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - A Tale of the Elithesi
Since one of the sails broke off - again - during priming, I had to do some additional repairs. But at least the first crew member could be painted. Hopefully, glueing him on will add additional stability to the back sail.

That's one lovely model. Where is it from? I'm looking forward to seeing it all completed.
Somehow, all Skycutter models are a bit flimsy. Too many fiddly, fragile parts with the wings and connections to the bird in front of it. Mine (which is the original GW model) has been on my "to repair pile" for quite a while now.

Thank you. The model is from the Elves of Silvermoor range. Really finely designed, but also quite flimsy. At least with the printing shop that I used.Prince of Spires wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:42 am That's one lovely model. Where is it from? I'm looking forward to seeing it all completed.

Some progress on the Skycutter. One more painting session for the chariot and eagle and one for the crew and it should be finished. Still a terribly flimsy model. I hope GWs version in plastic is at least a bit more stable.

Nearly done. Just the two exchangeable crew members - one with the bolt thrower, one without - left to do.

That's looking amazing. I love the freehand on the sail. Looking forward to seeing it complete.
I do have to warn you though that the GW Skycutter isn't much better. It's also a very flimsy and easy to damage model. If anything, judging from the pictures I would say it's even flimsier that this model....

Thank you for the praise. The dragon on the sail is not a freehand though, but instead is part of the printed model. I also like the look of it, however!Prince of Spires wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 8:11 am That's looking amazing. I love the freehand on the sail. Looking forward to seeing it complete.
Well, in that case I just hope that GW's plastic is less easy to break than the resin used in this printPrince of Spires wrote: ↑Tue Apr 08, 2025 8:11 amI do have to warn you though that the GW Skycutter isn't much better. Finally finished the Skycutter. Next up will likely be 10 Sisters of Avelorn or 9 IoB Seaguard. When these are all finished, I will allow myself to buy something new. Either a second Skycutter, a Phoenix or a Merwyrm. But first, more painting

It's looking great and the sisters are shaping up nicely.
Let us know what the next model you're getting is going to be. I always enjoy putting together some of the bigger kits. And you keep finding some great alternative models.
