Border Patrol

#1 Post by Avatarbriman »

Just played my second ever tournament. A 500pt Border patrol, 4 games over the course of the day, with 3 scenario types. Secure objective, capture peasant and capture watchtower. Got to say the format was a lot more enjoyable than a 2k GT for myself personally, and I would recommend people give it a try.

List I brought, ended with 4 wins and best general. Phoenix guard in smaller games really take on all comers, with the noble blending through monstrous infantry and cavalry that charged.

Nice one :) what's the exact format of border patrol? It might be the only time the stormweaver shines as you can sneak in a level 3 into a seaguard list!

A level 3 would be too much points if as per the Secure the Watch tower scenario.

Congrats, and a lovely painted army to boot! How much impact did you feel Ring of Fury had?

I love playing 500 point games, but our gaming group plays with a different set of rules for Army Comp to encourage variety. I haven't tried yet the Ring of Fury, but seems like it could be especially good if you get it off.

Kind regards,

Our event followed these rules, so a lot more restriction than just that scenario. Being limited to level 2 really restricted the power of wizards so there was a decent mix of combat heroes and wizards across the 28 players.

Ring of fury was MVP, 3 out of 4 games I was charged by Monstrous cavalry or infantry and then killed 1/2 before they even had a chance to act. Wizards being rare means much less chance of being dispelled luckily
