Re: Alternative High Elf miniatures - a near and dear subject
I'm going to list some of my personal favorite High Elf figures, how useful they are for Warhammer varies:
I still think Ral Partha made some of the prettiest, most iconic fantasy miniatures ever produced, their Elves being a particular favorite. Hard to find and rather tiny next to big&chunky Citadel ones, but very nice.
For something REALLY old school, take a look at Minigfigs' Aureola Rococo range, recasts available from www.miniaturefigurines.co.uk (scroll down to 'Classic Fantasy ranges'), they're true 25 mm scale and also extremely iconic and influential.
If you're looking for something Middle Earthy, I think Mithril (www.mithril.ie) would have gotten the job if Professor Tolkien himself had ever commissioned a miniature line depicting his creations. Nothing anyone else have ever made looks as Tolkien as their figures do.
For somewhat more 'realistic', kinda Dark Agey looking Elves, I'd recommend Vendel (hard to find), Oathmark or Prince August self-casts. Those would also make excellent Numenoreans.
Hatrlequin/Black Tree Design come closest to matching the 80s/90s Citadel look.
And for HUGE and CHUNKY Elves, Target Games' Chronopia and Leviathan lines certainly fit the bill. I love their Dragon riders !

Highland miniatures have released a new line, called Aegean elves. They are clearly inspired by the high elf line but with some nice extras.
For the moment they have released archers, spearelves, Bolt thrower and heavy cavalry.
I am contemplating buying the heavy cavalry and use them to make a unit of elite Cothique Silver helms and use them as count-as Dragon princes.

Mine army is made up of a mix of GW and Elves of Silvermoor. They look good as more aggressive looking High Elves, which is why I got them for a Caledor theme.
Take a voyage to Tor Caled and behold Prince Tûrion Rilyalocë and the mighty Laurëdraugnir as well as their Caledorian host.http://www.ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=46899

Speaking of alternative models, does anyone have some suggestions for 3rd party versions of the skycutter? Until our Arcane Journal it will likely continue to be difficult to source one, but I need a skycutter in February ^^"

It's not amazing but that should work
an interesting variation on my usual playstyle, which is 'charge forward, forward for the love of khaine, we can fight better than any of them and they can't shoot into melee why is our armor so thin ohgodcannons'

Thank you for the suggestion. I also discovered that the Elves of Silvermoor line has a well-designed eagle chariot. So that makes two options already. Anyone else knows of further alternatives?Csjarrat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 6:15 pmhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314877461395 ... media=COPYAnduil of Elithis wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 6:49 am Speaking of alternative models, does anyone have some suggestions for 3rd party versions of the skycutter? If I throw it into google, I get a few options on Etsy, which look decent.

Trish Carden, the sculptor for the old school creatures, has a really nice griffin on Footsore miniatures in their HarrowHyrst range. I'm planning on making a prince on a griffin using a third party dragon prince model and her griffin. It's posed really dynamically too, which is nice.

Now Highlands miniatures have released more 3D print "high elves" or as they call them Aegean Elves. The first wave have been joined by a chariot, a mage, "Swordmasters" known as Swords of Messara. They have also released "Phoneix guards" called Mycenean guards.

Re: Alternative High Elf miniatures - a near and dear subject
There's a 'High Elves' range circulating on telegram - apparently from a user that sculpted his own line and made it available - they're by far the best range I've seen
Last Sword has a very nice range - I really like their monsters (Phoenix)
One Sin for Seven Kingdom has very good options, especially for Handmaiden & SoA

Loving the Highland miniatures. They make me want to buy more models (and a 3D printer...), and start a new army. Their goblins are also great looking
