I thought it could be good practice for eyes, since they are big, but after a couple of failed trials I decided that pupils are too hard.

Have you tried painting black then putting a dot of white in each corner?

I had some time to strip and repaint two of them

Nice going! You've been busy. I like the SM. The transparent blue gives them a lovely magical feel.

For eyes, I go with all white and then a vertical black stripe in the center. You do need a good brush with a thin tip though. I think that's the most important thing to getting them right. Older, beat up brushes have a wider tip, and hairs standing at all angles, which makes these kinds of fine details hard to get right.
