Quite a bit of progress lately.
Perhaps it does not show well, and picture quality is crap (used the phone not a proper camera), but the unit is starting to look the way I want it to.
Now I have to clean it up and work on the details, will certainly be time consuming.
The cloaks are more desaturated than they look here, that light blue has quite a bit of grey in it.

They look great MoN but I guess slightly more subdued makes sense.

Yeah, phones tend to oversaturate images. It's a software thing. And it's either because it makes pictures look better (more vibrant and all that) or because phone reviewers like it and as such tend to give higher scores to camera's which take vibrant pictures compared to realistic ones. It is what it is...

They look great. A unit of PG that size is a sight to behold and a power on the battle field. :)

Thanks Rod.
I just made the unit this big because I could (the freedom of printing your own stuff!) but I doubt I'll have the points in my army to use all the models.

After a very long time, during which I suffered from painting fatigue and got distracted by other projects, I have recently started again painting, and yesterday night I finally completed my PG unit.
You can see it here in all its glory, I very much doubt I'll ever field all the models. But It's nice to know I could, if I wanted :)

Thanks guys!
I am now on to a more relaxing, hopefully shorter, project.
Painting large numbers of small figures with loads of details is tiring...

I also like how you’ve got the halberds angled down in concert.

That's because the guys with the halberds down can only fit on the right hand side, and placing the middle pose on the left is awkward.

This weeks project has been Stormwing.
Quick and sweet, I really enjoyed painting the model and am very pleased with how it came out.
I also have Eltharion to paint but don't fancy doing more elf figures full of tiny details right now, so my next project will also be monstrous.

Last week I started my new project of a second troll unit (plus some individual trolls).
The main unit is the set fro Troll Soup that were discussed some time ago here and in SA's blog.
Below are the images at the end of the first three painting sessions.

They could certainly become a nice centrepiece of an army.
I am already thinking about how many trolls can I sensibly put in a list. I've got 19 now...

They're shaping up great indeed. Lot's of character and individuality in them. And I like seeing how they come together. Gives me some ideas of what I can do painting-wise.

And I agree with SA that you surely can fit more than 19 of them in a list ;)

My unit of trolls is complete, many months later than as planned.I guess life gets in the way...
Still no opportunity on the horizon to test them in a match :(
The three "spare" trolls are still a WIP, not sure when I'll paint them.
I now have a few other bits and bobs on my to do, including Eltharion (Griffon version) and a banner and musician for my archers.
Plus a monster that has been in my drawer for years... More on that later.

I quite like the trolls. And completing a project has a way of leading into the next, as long as you can keep it going. It is nice to see people still on here, and still plugging away on the lead pile.

A different version of a monster I already have painted and posted here, and which makes little sense to put in an army list...
Now that I think this is a very poor clue, I can think of several examples that match the above.
OK then, it has a scaly skin.
The reason for this one is that it is a much better looking miniature.
If you guess it I will post the image of it base coated, with zenithal highlighting.

Yes, it is a testament of how strong a game Warhammer Fantasy was. How could GW kill it... it has taken them years to reconsider, and we don't yet know how the revival will be.

I would not say that it makes no sense to put a dragon in an army list.
On the other hand, I feel a wyvern is wasted points:

The Star Dragon is clearly worth it, others are interesting but a little risky IMHO. The Wyvern has a S6 Thunderstomp, is fairly hard to kill and reasonably cheap, I'd give it a go. Certainly a worthy painting project!

@SA, looking back at our conversation, I realised that there was a critical piece of information missing for you, which I mistakenly thought I shared before.
Which is, I already have a painted warboss on wyvern....
