Both are decent.
I'm a Reaver Bow man but my Lord rides a chariot and I need both the option for Ring of Fury and some protection. On a flyer there's a better case for Seafarer IMHO as you get to line up those flank shots on knights etc..
Still, either looks good to me. The only issue you have is keeping the Griffon safe from counter-fire I would say.

I would agree that, on a flyer, seafarer would be my choice. Mobile terror causing bolt thrower? Yes, please.

The flying part of the Prince just makes the bolt thrower so much better. Suddenly a bolt hits the side of a cav unit and 2-3 die as a result. You're getting points back in spades if these are chaos knights, but any heavy cav is nice to take out with this.

I agree with everyone that, in this case, the seafarer is the better choice. I'd add that you'd be better served with an eagle, though I suppose the griffon can soak up a bit more.

Also buy a lance just incase you need it, if you get charged you can whip out the great axe and take them out, but on the charge you really want the strength 6, also if you use the great axe you're throwing your enchanted shield away! If you want to save 10 points for say... talismen of loec you could drop the enchanted shield and the guardian phoenix and get some use out of the elusive gauntlets that also cost 25 points and give you a 5+ ward against strength 4 or more, I've never found a use for them but maybe they're worth it here if you really want a ward save, otherwise id say get helm of fortuen if you're not using it elsewhere or armour of caledor.

As said, I think u would get more out of BotS since you can line up juicy targets.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
Take Seafarer on the Prince so that a Noble can take Reaver.
Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
I don't think I'd ever put Reaverbow on a Prince. It just feels like a waste.
Either go allout and use BotS on him, or make him a fighter. Reaverbows should only be used on Noble's I'd say.

Both bows are still very viable for a Prince, but it comes down to what else u deck him out with.

Put it on a second Noble?SpellArcher wrote:What if you need your Noble for other things?Minsc wrote:Reaverbows should only be used on Noble's I'd say.

Or if I'm out of heros-lots I'd simply not use Reaver Bow in that list.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
Personally I reckon a second Noble after the BSB does not do enough.
The strength of the Prince for me is that because of the magic item allowance he multi-tasks well. So he not only fights, he also Ld10's, he can do magic, he can shoot.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
i quite like a prince with bow of seafarer, helm of fortune, amulet of light, shield, dragon armour, lance/halberd (never great weapon when mounted - only give +1 strength for more points than the +1 strength of a halberd)
gives good mobility to use the bow and a re-rollable 3+ save which against anything s6 or less ix probably better than the guardian phonix.
i'd run the second noble after battle banner bsb with either reaver bow (foot/mounted whatever) or as a night to give the dragon princes more punch.

Isn't the problem with the mounted bows that you can't march?
Building on your GT list I like the Reaver Bow guy as he would give you a general as well as the shooting.mike newman wrote:i'd run the second noble after battle banner bsb with either reaver bow (foot/mounted whatever) or as a night to give the dragon princes more punch.

Err you might consider getting a great weapon because there's always a chance your character will be dismounted. If i have the points I'd rather field GW then a halbred.

I'm guessing Mike's assuming a horse?

nope he assumed a flying mount
If it was a horse than yeah probably not a good idea to give the character a GW...mike newman wrote: gives good mobility to use the bow and a re-rollable 3+ save which against anything s6 or less ix probably better than the guardian phonix.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
My bad.
On a flyer (I should have remembered the thread title!) the bows are great, halberd/GW depends where you'll end up if the mount goes down I guess. On a chariot I prefer GW as it's more likely to go down and he'll likely be in a better position if it does.
Or a magic bow IMHO.pk-ng wrote:If it was a horse than yeah probably not a good idea to give the character a GW...

is it just me or is ld10 nice to give to your troops? ^^
I like to keep the lord-boltthrower close to my troops and shoot from there. If i want reaverbow i usually put a noble on an eagle with it.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
fair point.
i'd run a bow armed dude on a horse. with the load out i gave him would have a 1+ rerollable. can easily sit in a unit with 4 s5 asf attacks plus stand and shoot, or can use the horse to get to the flanks quickly and bow of seafarer through knights
yeah i like the reaver bow noble. plan to try out one on foot with tailsman of loec and great weapon at some point, with the idea of duel purposing to assinate skink priests off the top of engines which cause me so much trouble.

Re: Which Prince set-up would you choose? BotS or Reaver Bow?
I think the dilemma can be that with a flyer you want to make use of the movement. You can always just hover around the battle line but risk getting shot or not getting the Seafarer flank shots in.Aderyn wrote:is it just me or is ld10 nice to give to your troops? ^^

On foot or on a horse in a unit you're a bit restricted in how much you can maneouvre to line good shots up (plus the unit can't march). You can move him out temporarily but then you have to watch for enemy shooting/magic.
The chariot is a compromise, you're close enough to use the Ld and can pivot around to line shots up. Downside of course is it's a bit vulnerable to cannon etc..

with a 1+ rerollable armour i'm not sure youhave to be that wary of enemy magic/shooting if out on your own....

Yeah it's like geo's unkillable BSB.
I guess you can ignore small arms and basic MM's but big spells and war machines could be an issue.
