Hello all! Its been a while since I last had a HE army (5th ed was the last time I played) and thanks to "tradera" (our ebay) I now got something to start with again , and to begin with I thought I would show you what you can get for a "small" amount of money :D

That is a GREAT start to the army! And in ALL METAL. I Love it! I started playing HE in 2001 so I also have a large amount of the old metals, but I have never been able to find the old LSG metals. My LGS's all have LSG command blisters, but no actualy R&F.

I'm sure they will come out beautiful. I'm jealous of all that weighty metal.

Based on my calculations you bought 1440pts (including magic equipment on hero) if use use those as spearmen or 1520 if they are lothern sea guard. Nice Buy! 1 or 2 mages with some Calvary and your doing great!

:sigh: Yes those were the days...... Metal armies were pretty much the default condition back then. AND they were sooooooo cheap!
A very fortunate 'buy' indeed and I'll try really hard not to hate you as I say, 'Congratulations'.

ZehKaiser: - yes I'm short on numbers of the old metal LSG figures too. I left buying them far too late and they were already starting to disappear from the shelves in the GW stores. :(

Thanks everybody! For your interest I can say that i spent about 120$ for this start.

Still to come (soon I hope) are:

10 dragon princes
2 lion chariots (old chariot + lions from new chariot)
20 Phoenix guards
lots and lots of characters
and of course , 2 great eagles :D

I was thinking about using micro art bases as I suck at basing :(
anybody here who got any experience with micro art bases?

That's a great deal indeed, the stuff in the picture alone is worth $300 US. If you also got the chariots, DP's, and all the rest in that same bundle, then jesus, that was a good buy!

Great get there man.

Great stuff here! The Swordmasters look very good, if a bit worn-out:wink: I can't really tell how the WL looks like because of the photo. Ccan't wait to see more!

I'm also aiming for an all-metal army, so my force looks pretty similar - only the WL and SM are different sized. I see you have the cool 1998 Chris FitzPatrick spear-wielding hero - its a great miniature isn't it?
cheers, Lee

for jealous of that army. I've been trying to get my hands on metal lsg and archers for 7 years now..
For the dwarfs, there was only this. Hammerson met Grombrindal’s gaze, and the White Dwarf nodded slowly. If it must be done, let it be done well. Whether they were dead or alive, that was the only way dwarfs knew how to do anything.

And Grombrindal said "10 from the back, yeah?"

Yes I purchased one of those as soon as I laid eyes on it in the GW store back when I was starting to put together my HE army. An amazing model figure in every way :D

Thanks for the replies! The spear-wielding hero is indeed a very cool, but what is the point in having a spear on foot??? He know carries a big axe instead.

I don't use him as a hero, just a unique model. Both my chariots are ridden by one not two charioteers. Call them champions of tiranoc if you want - 2 attacks, 2 shots each. Looks nice

An all metal army is awesome! And very rare these days. Mine is pretty close to all metal--just my spears and chariot that I am working on are plastic (and the spears are soon to be replaced with the metal LSG models). You really got a great deal. Looking forward to seeing them painted.

Cool idea for the spear wielding hero, RE, I have that model as well and if I ever decide to make some tironic chariots I might do exactly as you have  Right now I am all about the lion chariot though--just got my first one ready for priming last night!

I've just posted the pictures of the chariot in my blog (link in my signature), if anyone's interested. Stealing ideas is very welcome

Must...not...get...jealous...RAAAARGH!!!
:)
Seriously though. Wish I could get my hands on the old models. I still stare at that regiment of spears in the 6th ED BrB and drool...:( Everyone around here clutch their metal models so tightly a crowbar can't seperate them...

Holy crap!

That's old skool! :) I used to have those kind of minis, but sold all of my models. I really didn't like the stance, plus I must admit, since I just started out painting, I could have done a better job... :p

In any case, it does give you a nostalgic feeling to a time that playing high elves was a lot different than it is today, and I think the army you are collecting is a very nice project to bring just that across!

Good luck!
