Asking for a tonne of friends :)

I have a friend in Cardif who is trying to find other players. If you could help him out that would be really good. Do you chaps have a club or snything?

Also I would sugest perhaps finding a way of starting up events in that area, as at present I don't think there are any.

Kind regards

There's an event scheduled for January 20 at Battle Bunker in Sunderland. 3 games at 2000 pts. The event guide hasn't been posted just yet.

That's great news CR, I didn't know those North East tournaments were still going! I think there's usually an event at Wayland in May. I'm also hopeful Mark Peat will run one in the next few months sometime.

Event pack has just been posted.

It'll be a very long train ride, but I'm thinking of heading up from Southampton. It'll be my first Warhammer tournament. May have tried to join the tourney scene just a touch late. Are you thinking of going?

I doubt it unfortunately. Family commitments vs such a long journey.

If I could get my army painted up I'd go to the Sunderland one, even if it did mean braving the mackem kingdoms.

I went to the first Sunderland tournament in January, it was good fun, there were about 16 of us. Only reason I'm not going in March is the trip from Southampton to Sunderland by train is a bit expensive to do frequently.

How far north are you Olthannon? The Milton Keynes venue is just off the M1. I played last year, good tournament.

The Essex events tend to get more but they’re 2-day of course. Worcester for example tends to be small but the venue’s great and it’s very friendly.

I'm out in the Northumbrian wilds, things aren't that close to me, but Sunderland is certainly closer than Milton Keynes!

I'd like to make it to both Milton Keynes and Worcester this year. Worcester I think will be quite likely, Milton Keynes is at a bit of an awkward time for me so I'm not certain!

The guys in the midlands are definitely better placed. I’m in the south but even the Essex venue is a 2hr drive. My grandfolks came from Blyth so I know how far that is! I’m not sure if there’s much 8th Edition in Scotland any more.

I fear not. Firstly it’s a 2-dayer and that messes with my family commitments. Secondly I’m all-in on O&G at the moment and took an unfinished army to MK last year which I regretted, it’s just more fun with a fully-painted force IMHO. I’m going to struggle to get 2000pts finished for June, no way I’m hitting more than that for May.

So I’ve heard from Tyrion2018 that the Milton Keynes event listed above has been moved from the 8th of June to the 7th of September due to venue refurbishment. Conversely, the Worcester event has been moved from the 7th of September to the 8th of June. Worcester will be 2500pts.

I believe late is the best way to describe this, but there's an event next weekend in Sheffield, Kings of the Old World. 2500 points, one day, 3 games.

Not sure how to post the event pack as it's a PDF uploaded to Facebook.

I know it's not a good time given that with coronavirus all gatherings have been cancelled, but if I wanted to look for an event, where should I look?
Please bear in mind I've never played in the UK so I have no idea of what are the traditional recurring events. Also I am in it for the fun, some competition is good to spice up things, but I am not cutthroat competitive and favour a friendly atmosphere and perhaps not so big venues.

Welcome MasterofNone!

:)

Most 8th Edition events here have been small and relaxed the last few years. Typically there's a May event in Essex each year but I can't imagine that's going ahead in the current environment. A Champions of Destiny tournament was planned for Worcester in June but again that seems very unlikely now. This site is worth a look:

Thank you.
Essex is very far from Cheshire, but Warwick could just about be doable if I am keen.
Anyway, this is just academic, nothing will happen for several months.
If you get wind of anything in the future I would be grateful if you - or anyone else - could post it here.

Will do. A few months ago there were tournaments in Derby and Sheffield which I guess might be possibilities for the future.

Fabulous, thank you.
Derby and Sheffield would be excellent venues distance wise.
