Wamphyri101's Lumineth Realm Lords - Lions of Lumineth

#1 Post by wamphyri101 »

Realm lords are hear!

Basically the old high elves :)

So, after reading the book the army is only half full so expect another release.

Teclis and his side of the faction are interesting, but I wouldnt call them OP. They are going to require a lot of synergies to work and be remembered so not a point and click army

Since Tyrion seems to be more Moon/sky while Teclis more ground,  I recon Tyrion will come with a  new type of moon or star dragon, and probably have a dragon monster options

He will get similar core (Wardens, Dawnriders, sentinals)

I think swordmasters are gone for now, they woulda been with Teclis. And PG are in Cities (which cant allie with LRL which is odd)

I think we might see a monstrous Cav option or Chariot return, as well as a new type of bolt thrower. Tyrions side is supposed to be more Martial while Teclis more Mindful

Anyway, I have some models now so going to start seeing what I can do with some of the old white lion parts

The artwork is really nice. Its actually a very nice book. You can probably get your hands on the ltd edition on on fb sell groups as a lot of people purchased multiple boxes to get the models and are selling the insides.

My wip so far:

Beautiful work!
I have to agree, the new book is really beautiful. The models are nice, only the box itself is a bit too soft, but i´ll throw it away anyway, so it´s no drama.
GW promised a lot, i am just curious how many of those boxes are actually sold, because seeing a limited box be available 2 weeks after release, is either sad or GW miscalculated something and the Limit of this limited box is very high!

The Elves of old were always tied with dragons (i know, this is not the old world, it is just my hopes), so i really hope something dragon-like will be released, if not with Tyrion, then with something else, and if that doesnt happen, i´ll do it myself. I was a bit disappointed, when - after seeing the banner of the Dawnriders in the first preview - nothing dragonlike appeared. I am just waiting for my colourshift metallics to arrive then i´ll start the Dragon Princes 2.0! ;)

They look great. You managed to make the new model look pretty awesome. Is the lion model a complete GW model or is it a partial kit-bash?

And I must say I'm rooting for more dragons! ;)

Sorry read the thing wrong lol

I have around 4 dragons I think, and 4 Phoenxies.

I am hoping when Tyrion comes out finally that he will have a big ass dragon, as AOS needs dragons.

Played my first game in months, and first with LrL

The list I am running atm is:

Image

No Teclis, as I think he is a trap.

He let me go 1st, and he got the double which put me on the back foot as I didnt deploy to cover the far right obj correctly, and he managed to burn one in both turn 2 and 3. I did made some tactical errors also, but mainly due to wanting to see what things could on their own. I had decimated his army by the end of turn 3, but
Without being able to pull the priority back, I couldnt pull back enough obj points in time so took the loss. Good learning game

My guess would be that if GW releases rules for a model on a dragon they will release a dragon model to go with the rules. A big (and expensive) one.

The colours on the wardens are great. I love the cream and red together. And the red and white details just match with them in a natural way.

Gret to see you get a game in again. I think you achieved what you wanted with it, even if you lost. But you first should know how stuff functions on its own before you can really appreciate the synergies. It makes your future games stronger.

Why is Teclis a trap?

Expensive or not, i wanna have it and it has to look cool! If we ignore Smaug, the most expensive models are at 130€, even if it is 150€ i will get it. If it is more, it has to look REALLY cool... like Cang... i love that model!

Why is Teclis a trap?

I am actually gonna be on Honest Wargamer to discuss realm lords tonight. (with Dan)

Teclis is a 660pts. You need to go first to get his buffs up, and that means a 2 drop army. This doesnt give you a lot of options as its basically going to be

Teclis: 660
Scinari Cathaller: 140
30 Wardens: 360
10 Wardens: 120
10 Wardens: 120
10 Sentinals: 140
10 Sentinals: 140
10 Sentinals: 140
Legion: 120
60pts for Endless spell or command points.

So, this gives us 2 drops (Teclis and then the rest in the Batallion)

Issue with this is:
1: No speed. fastest unit is Teclis who needs to hang back, then its the Wardens, who you dont want to run as they lose the -1 to hit them.

2: No oompf. Yeah, you have the archers and teclis to snipe heroes, but vs horde units you dont have the bodies to deal with them

3: Armies that can fly/deep strike can get teclis turn 1, or in combat turn 2

4: Teclis can only get a 5+ ward, and maybe a 3+ armour if he uses the aetherstone. He has like 16w, and tbh with sustained fire he can die in 2 turns. KO/Skaven will kill him in one turn. Yeah, he dominates magic, but he is just so squishy that you have to spend most your army keeping him safe, and in doing that you are not going for objectives

I'll have a look at the twitch show. :)

I see your point. I think that list would be in trouble against some of the agressive Moriati lists you've played earlier. Teclis does indeed make too many eggs in a very squishy basket.

That will probably be an impressive army, although i will personally prefer to add more different units. The Dawnriders are quite nice and beautiful dynamic cavalry (my second favourite atm, after the new Chaos Knights), that are pretty fast and the Hammer-guys will be my "Challenge accepted" unit to convert and try to do something more pleasing out of them. ;)

The dawnriders are great, and tbh I think every army should have 5 to 10. Only Issue I have with doing more of them, as hell I would love to do 3 units of 15, is that they are only great vs 1 or 2 W Infantry. Vs anything else they lose impact

You´re right. Maybe it would work to kill multi-wound models with magic, but i didnt "dive into" the armybuilding that far, so we should wait for more stuff to be released.

Excellent work, I am envious of your skills.
The miniatures are also fine, especially the lions. I am less convinced by the shape of the helms, but I guess things have moved on since the good Old World is gone.

Cheers!

I was not a huge fan of the helms at first, but they grow on you. I won't be using the Sentinel heads though as they suck but you get extra warden heads.

So played two games with my LrL now (one loss vs cities, one win vs Mixed Death) and some things I have noted about the units so far (as I have run a mix of everything, list below)

I am running:
Zaitrec
Light of Eltharion
Stonemage (General) Fast learner, Gift of Celennar
Cathallar: Silverwand
30 Wardens
10 Wardens
2 x 10 Sentinels
5 Dawnriders
5 Stoneguard
Avalenor
Legion
Twinstones

My breakdown so far:

Zaitrec: the +1 magic is really useful, but so far I haven’t had much chance to use their unique spell as I have other stuff I want to cast, plus the artifact/trait is meh. Might look at alt options

Light of Eltharion: very average so far. He died game 1 turn 3 to some demigryphs, and was shot off turn 1 game 2. His bubble is good for bravery, but without a better than 5+ FNP I find him to be pretty easy to deal with. Might replace
Stonemage: lived both games, and taking assault of stone spell is useful. Main reason he is there is to support Avalenor

Cathallar: my main spell caster usually throwing out Eclipse and Protection. The battle shock ability has been good so far. Definitely a keeper.

Wardens: Love them. Yeah, they can be slowish as you don’t want to run/charge them unless you need to. With Ethereal/Protection and Legion on they can be pretty tanky. Good damage output also.

Sentinels: Good support and snipes like everyone expected. I might need more than 2x10

Dawnriders: not had much chance to shine. Died turn one both games

Stoneguard: Actually, been pretty useful. Though 4 mov, you can run them at least. With Avalenor giving them +1 attack they can be great support for 100pts. Might change my unit to 10

Avalenor: has been a mixed bag, but mainly due to my shitty dice rolls with him. Game one he soaked a lot of shooting attention and game 2 he did well enough.

Twinstones: great for the points and stable to my lists now.

SO, what next?

I will probably keep the same list for another game or 2 to see learn the army more, but I kinda might drop Eltharion and then boost 5 stoneguard to 10, and the 5 Dawnriders to 10.

Oh, yes, I absolutely agree. The comment was only about the shape of the helms, not the quality of the painting, which is excellent.
I mean, the helms are fine too, just in my Old World view of the High Elves they are out of place.
