In response to the recent complaints about spam and lawlessness, we have decided to change our policy slightly. In effect, the list that used to be here has been replaced by the following rules:

1. If a Loremaster requests something, make sure it happens, be that removing yourself from a thread or changing a signature. A Loremaster is always right when it comes to rule enforcement. If he is not, apply the previous sentence. It should be noted that this applies to all forums equally, and overrides any other rules currently being enforced where a conflict would arise.

1a. Pay attention to the Heralds. As moderators they have been entrusted with the power to help police the site by the Loremasters, making sure the rules are upheld. If you take issue with a Herald's decision on a matter, then PM a Loremaster about it and the issue will be reviewed.

2. Do not spam. We define spam as anything that does not directly add to the discussion at hand, and will remove it if we come across it. This includes constructive posts that are off-topic, endless discussions between a few members (we have a PM system for that), and so on. If we have to remove too many of your posts, you'll receive a warning. After your second warning, we'll remove you instead of your post. This rule also applies to inappropriate material of any kind, such as insults, flames, trolling and so forth. Trolling is classified as a post intended to offend and/or annoy another poster. Flaming is classified as insults of other members of the forum. You may critique an argument, naturally (after all, debates are one of the reasons that this forum exists), but restrain yourself from attacking the person behind that argument. Debates are fine (and are even encouraged), but they should not degenerate into personal attacks under any circumstance.

Obviously, there is a degree of leeway in what an individual Loremaster may think is spamming/flaming/trolling or not, but they are the ones who have the final say. Once a post has been deleted, it cannot be restored, so do not ask - it is impossible.

Additionally, do not advertise other websites. A thread for posting any website links already exists, found here, and you may feel free to post a link to your site in that particular thread. Links posted elsewhere without the explicit permission of the Loremasters will be either locked or deleted, as the case may be.

3. Do not post illegal materials, or links to illegal materials. In a similar fashion, do not post (directly or via links) anything that would be classified as inappropriate (such as pornography). With regards to what is considered to be inappropriate, follow the below rule (rule #4). If you are still unsure, then contact a Loremaster via PM and ask them about it.

4. Above all, please think about what you post. Ask yourself if you would want to read what you are about to post before doing so, ask yourself if others would want to read it, and ask yourself if we would like to see your message on these forums. Only continue if the answers are yes.

Regards,

The Asur.org Staff
