Re: Painting again
Thanks, I really do like the old stuff. I just finished the other 5 "elven personalities". If anyone happens to have an extra of the harp that's part of this range please let me know. It's the only accessory that isn't accounted for.

It might be awhile before I do more oldhammer elves. Right now I've got 23 Mordheim Amazons and some Warmaster Spears, silver helms, and a hero on Dragon. The plan is to do another unit of 20 4th edition Spear Elves and some warmaster PG and Dragon Princes after that, but who knows.

In general I’m not a huge fan of really old models (heresy, I know!), but the heavily armoured horses are pretty cool.
Will be good to see the Warmaster army expand. I think one of the disappointments of Warhammer is that the size of the armies makes it seem more like a skirmish than a proper battle, but Warmaster really gets that right.

There is no accounting for taste But I understand, I'm not a fan of most of the 8e stuff, and AoS stuff is just appalling to me. Yet I'm pretty sure others like it.Elithmar wrote:In general I’m not a huge fan of really old models (heresy, I know!), but the heavily armoured horses are pretty cool.
100% agreed. A 1000pt warmaster often looks more like an an army than 3000pts of warhammer, and both games are typically played at 2000pts. It's hard to imagine any of the Special Characters leading a warhammer sized amry. The sad (but also good) thing is they don't really exist in Warmaster.Elithmar wrote:Will be good to see the Warmaster army expand. Re: Painting again
I forgot to mention that one of these is the only bearded elf model from GW that I'm aware of. Just kind of odd.
Re: Painting again
The bearded elf is a little weird, maybe someone was just having fun with it

Re: Painting again
Now you mention it, the beard is a bit odd! Also his arms - looks like he’s trying to put his hands up, but his left arm is too lazy, so he has to use a ‘fing-longer’ type device.

In my painting experience Shannar, any progress, no matter how small, makes you more likely to keep it up.

Re: Painting again
I've been away awhile. It's nice to see all activity on Ulthuan though. I've been having an issue with carpel tunnel, so painting is difficult. I'm supposed to start the process to get that corrected next week. Unfortunatly I seem to have some Covid symptoms, so I'm hoping the test comes back fast enough that if it's negative I can still go to my appointment next week.

Best wishes of a negative diagnosis, and of a positive resolution of your carpal syndrome too.Shannar, Sealord wrote:I've been away awhile. It's nice to see all activity on Ulthuan though. Indeed. Stay safe and I hope your test is negative and the carpal tunnel treatment works.

Re: Painting again
First the good news. I'm recovered from the Covid, and I don't have carpel tunnel. The bad news is that I get to go see some Drs about arthritis. Carpel tunner would have been much easier to treat, but figuring out the issue will at least be helpful

I hope you get it figured out soon. Arthritis would suck. But still better than not knowing what's going on I guess.

Re: Painting again
It's pretty bad right now. Painting for more than about 15 minutes leads to a lot of pain. I don't get enough done in 15 miniutes to justify starting.

Re: Painting again
It's been a very long time since I checked in here. I've not been painting much, but I'm starting to start up again. I did finish up the bases on a couple warmaster units, so hopefully I can get pictures of them up here soon.

Shannar, thirded! I enjoyed seeing the classic models above painted for the first time, and I hope your condition improves. Arthritis does suck.

thanks for the encouragement guys it does help. I got some models that were in progress back on the bench and decided what colors need to be used next. I doesn't sound like much, but it's been awhile, I have to figure out what I'm doing again haha.

yeah, starting up again is always the hardest part. In my experience, don't worry about it too much. Once you get rolling again it will come to you quickly enough.

Looking forward to seeing more of your painting! Hope that arthritis gets under control.
Re: Painting again
Hey Shannar, great to see you're up and posting again, I get some problems on and off with my joints too. I try a lot of baths and hot and cold treatments to ease some of it off.
Can't wait to see some more of your painting when you can. Good luck!

Re: Painting again
It's been a long time. But other than a banner, a shield, and the bases I just finished two of the dragon masters riders, and horsed for them. Hopefully pictures will come before to long. I'm excited to have made progress again. Next I will likely work on some Amazons again. Or maybe I'll just finish a river Troll as an easy way to keep momentum going.
