I like the colour scheme of your Skycutter, it looks very natural like that. Well done!

Love the colours on the eagle/roc (whatever it is). Could you let us know what paints you used?

Long time no see! After quite the downtime I've been getting back into my Tomb Kings. But, I've also redone my elves scheme. I was aiming for something really different from what I already got.
But it ended up pretty much the same. But I like it alot better. Luckily I haven't painted much, at all. 8)

I love the more natural looking colours you've achieved. It adds a dose of realism that I'm a huge fan of.

Your gems jump from light to dark quite abruptly. Was this a deliberate effect on your part or just saving time?

Excellent decision! And good-looking skycutter (though I prefer to model it with all 3 crew; I think the bolt thrower looks kinda goofy).

I'm not that great with tiny details. So, both? Even if I could make the gems smoother it would probably take me too much time for my liking.
I think they look good as is (at a distance anyway).

I'm well underway with the renewal. But there's so much to do as always. So we'll see at what speed I can keep this up. I might get more sidetracked than I ever wanted too.
I've always been a fan of Dwarves and the new ones look so good. Damn you all!

This makes me want to break out my IoB griffin rider. Five more of these silly dragon princes to finish first, though. =P

I commented on the TK forum but I'll echo the same words, your work is truly amazing and the attention to detail you have with the High Elves just really makes every single model you put a paint brush to 'pop' with life.

Good to see the forum's still kicking to some degree. After 6 years out of the hobby I'm back! AoS just outright killed Warhammer for me. I didn't play anymore at that point. But I couldn't even bother to paint after a while. I mean, they even had to rename all the races. I feel gross just talking about it. The urge to paint however grew too great! I still have most of my 8th models. So now I'm thinking I'm back.

Sadly I sold my Tomb Kings last year. An old friend reached out from nowhere and asked if they were for sale. And me thinking I'm never getting back into Warhammer obviously took the opportunity to get rid of some models. R.I.P. But I will try and finish my High Elf army now.

I haven't been away from gaming for that long but I know the feeling. :) Looking forward to see what you have.

Well I have been out of the game about 25 years before getting into it again (and discovering that 3 more editions had happened, and then the game had been killed!) but also understand the feeling about AoS. I would not touch that game with a barge pole.
You've got some really well painted miniatures, getting back to the top of your game happen very quickly.
Quite excited to see some new work.

Welcome back! :)

Your story is all too common unfortunately...

If you want to get some games in, then know that there are still a decent number of people playing 8th edition. And you could always check out The 9th Age, which is a fan-based follow-up to 8th edition. It has a very large community and an active scene of players. (though, of course, stay away from their forum and only post here... ;) ).

Welcome to the club, there is a huge portion of people who have drifted back in to the hobby after walking away from AoS. Hope to see some more photos because I love your earlier pictures!

Any paint savvy visitors? Gonna swing by and restock some paints later in the week. I'm having a hard time deciding on the colour of the Lothern Sea Guard shields. The dragons, more precisely. I don't feel like keeping them pink (1st pic in thread). Mostly because I'm not 100% happy with the way I do it and thus trying to keep it to a minimum. Purple feels like a cop-out. But at the same time I don't wanna make them the standard red. And if I would, I'd try make it a more off-red. More orangey. Probably.

Any thoughts? Kinda lost atm.

Not especially but I'll have a go Antelano. Have you considered the green you used on the Skycutter or your light blue? I'm sure I couldn't make either work but maybe you could?

Honestly, I hadn't even considered blue. I was so intent on keeping it exclusively on the gems. But I like it! Will probably go with that. Might put a greenish tint on it. We'll see.

Agreed, a blue-green would complement the pink.

I guess the comeback isn't truly official until you actually paint something. And I did just that. Swung by our mountain cabin during the week for some basic maintenance and brought a paint kit with me. Since I didn't bring a reference model with me, I didn't match all the colors correctly. So I'll have to redo the gold and the base. But it feels good to paint once again!

Absolutely lovely work, really dig that pink. I swear I need to pick up those newer swordmaster models at some point.
