Any other famous wargamers? HG Wells springs to mind for his book Little Wars, pretty formative.

Quite a few are pretty big warhammer fans.

I think Robin Williams is probably one of the biggest, he had a huge Blood Angels army.

Vin Diesel is also pretty big into D&D and 40k.

Nice find. I don't know any famous players.

I did find the reaction of the show host interesting, and Henry Cavill's reaction feels familiar. It's someone who doesn't want to understand and sees "plastic toy figures you play with" and stops there. And Cavill feeling almost appologetic and not wanting to explain it to someone who doesn't want to understand.

Makes sense I guess.

Long ago my sister asked me “Why do you play with little men?” Ever since my oldest gaming buddy (Kispal of this forum) and I have referred to the miniatures and indeed the hobby as ‘Little Men’. It’s spread to others as well.

My local group refers our stuff as 'bebice' which roughly translate as small dolls :D

Same here actually. I also refer to them as little men (or rather, the Dutch equivalent). But it feels different if you do it yourself among friends or if, like the show host or (mybe) your sister uses it in a condesending way.

My (Mauritian) wife used to call them my dolls.

My sister was about 12 at the time and I think she simply couldn't understand the appeal!

This I knew not! Jerseyman isn’t he? Most importantly, is he getting the Bond gig?

That would be cool. I wonder what he plays.

Looks like he is getting some more cast members to join him in painting stuff.

There is an American retired MMA athlete, Josh Barnett who is a massive fan of the 40k universe. Even changed his nick name to 'Warmaster' :)

I saw another interview with him the other day here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN6EIt9cq4w. Made me appreciate him a lot. He seems like a fun guy and a big nerd. I like how he mentions playing the Witcher game and fantasy books.

Man, I must become a famous tv star and get a private tour of the GW studio. That looks awesome.

Looks like we're going to see 40K films and/or TV series from Amazon:

Curious to see what they make of it. There is lots of potential there, but so far fantasy related series seem to be a bit hit and miss (across all streaming services for that matter).

I think it depends on how much producers are able/decide to stick with the source material and not deviate. I've looked forward to many series only to be disappointed by the changes made to them. Often the whole underlying story or characters are changed.

Good point Nicanor. For example they changed a few things in the Lord of the Rings movies but not that much and they were great. More changes in The Hobbit films. I liked some of those but overall not sure it was a good call.

Curious to see where it's headed. Henry Cavill seems very pasionate about getting the lore right and respecting the franchise (which seem to be the reasons he left the Witcher), so I'm cautiously optimistic that if he's part of it they'll make it a faithful adaptation. Though I'm not big on 40k or its lore. But just as a general principle...

i really hope this will be good! Henry Cavill is a nice actor and seems to be a really cool guy, so i hope he will get it done properly without people interfering too much (like in Witcher).
