Introduction topic

#1 Post by Giladis »

Considering that I have noticed quite a few new arrivals over the past weeks and there are at least 4 introduction topics on the first page alone I provide you with this topic to introduce yourselves to the Asur community.

I wish you all a warm welcome to Ulthuan.net and hope you will have a long and productive stay here.

Have a nice day

Loremaster note: This thread is for new members to introduce themselves. It is emphatically not for the advertisement of your own websites. All posts of that type should be made in this linked thread, to keep them from cluttering up other topics and forums.

Hello there everyone,

I'm Ruerl Khan, or "Lars" but the latter is more like the sound of a cardoor being slammed shut. I'm one of the moderators here or "loremasters" as we are called, meaning that i'm one of the bad people telling you people when you crossed the line. I've been at this site since it was first up as one of the very first members, that was back in 1998 so you could say i've been here a... while.

I play dark elves, study history of ideas and history and am mostly a nice guy, mostly anyway.

And to all the old members trolling in this thread:
This is not a confession place for alchoholics, this is a place to introduce yourself, so, either do so properly or don't post in this thread at all, this goes for all of you. Topics like this is meant to allow new members to introduce themselves, it is not meant for you to troll it, so play nice or I will have to edit and remove (even more) of your posts.
I love pushing around my small delicatedly painted dolls together with the rest of you.

Sorry, I couldn't resist myself and you know the others just followed suit.

On a side note I like the idea of this topic and not just for new members but for those who haunt different forums (I myself never really venturing out of OT) to say hello to each other

Well, I suppose I could start with the first really on-topic post...

I'm just out of college, picking up Fantasy for the first time. I've played 40k for two years or so, but am not a fan of grim-dark. I'm starting a career (web design), moving to a new city (Seattle) and starting a new army (High Elves) all at once.

You can find me mostly in the Army Lists and Tactics section. I play as a gamer first and a hobbyist second. I enjoy painting, but it takes a while to get a standard I'm happy with. The fluff is interesting, and the whole reason I chose High Elves, but I very seldom allow it to dictate my army list selections. It takes all types.

Hello All!!

I am the Tinman. Been playing for about a year and hovering around the forum for a few months now. I only have a High Elf army and today I love this game. A friend got me hooked when the last edition of D&D was,... well not that fun. We needed something else to play. I'm happy to be here.

I'm Dreadmad and I spend far too much money on little plastic men, I've been playing Warhammer for a decade, not as long as many of you I'm sure and I've been playing Helves and reading this forum for a coupla months. I guess I'm guilty of the lure of new shiney stuff

Hi all,

I'm returning to Warhammer after several years away, currently considering which army to collect (some of you might have noticed my umings and arings on other boards) and since the Asur are on the short list I figured I'd come here and take a look around.

Returning here also. I stopped playing High elves when my All cavalry force went away with 6th edition. I liked the looks of the new models and have played a few games. Surprisingly, Helms work well in large numbers. I used two blocks of 15. So far I am 2 wins 1 loss. Once I get my seaguard up and running my list will change drastically however. Keep the information flowing because I have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks.

Worloch here. Gaming group normally does 40k, tried Fantasy in 7th but the momentum died on it. With the advent of IoB and 8th, my friends and myself got interested again, so here I am (again - lurked before).

The other armies in our group:
Dark Elves
Orcs & Goblins
Skaven
Brets - but he may be switching to Dwarfs
and possibly Lizardmen or Empire - he is currently leaning towards Lizardmen, but he said Empire first

Hi Elves, I've been lurking on the forum for a few weeks and decided to make the plunge into Fantasy after enjoying 40K for two years. High Elves was the only army that really interested me and after Island of Blood came out I decided to give the game a try.

Hello Everyone,

I am a veteran Dark Elf player and have visited to Ulthuan plenty of times, both on the game table and to this forum. Inspired by the great Malekith and the book of his younger years (before Ulthuans betrayel I mean) and with the new models coming out I have started a painting project to start a Nagarythe Army (pre sundering), back when they were the Elite of the Elite.

Next to the modelling and painting of this army I also want to make a set of rules to reflect the Nagarythe force of those days. I will start a thread in the ideas forum for all of you willing to help in this.

(ps. sorry about the betrayel yipe, couldn't resist. *slaps own face* This is Ulthuan.net not Druchii.net, won't happen again. )

Hi, Drainial Shadowheart isn't the most high elf name in the world, which is because I am a dark elf player. I joined this forum in order to talk to people in the Nemesis crown campaign but I have recently started thinking about making a small HE army if I can think of a decent theme (fluff being the most interesting part of the hobby for me).

Hello everyone,

I'm a 22 year old Belgian who is into gaming (PC) and all sorts of sports.

I had my first experience with Warhammer 9 years ago. I started with buying the box that had Orcs and Humans in it. Back then I was 13 and didn't hold out to long. I didn't have any friends playing it, well one played a GW game but he was into 40K.

Recently the thought came into my mind to start again. I would do it properly this time though. First of all this is the perfect time to start as I always wanted to be HE, even 9 years ago, and they are featured in the IoB box. Secondly I would go to a local shop and check it out there, see when the gaming nights are so I actually also play matches with them.

But since it's a quite expensive hobby I'm still doubting and that's why I registered here. Checking various posts so I'll be 100% sure about my decision before actually buying everything (I'll first buy the HE army book and read that before actually getting units). Once I do start I will put the needed money in it though, it's not such a big deal since I will really go for it then and put all time and effort in it.

Any tips for someone who is thinking about starting are most welcome in my PM box ;)

Guess I should make a post after reading these forums for the past couple of weeks.

Hello everyone, I'm Kelandrae. I'm very new to Warhammer, having only started my high elf army at the end of October/beginning of November. My husband (who plays Druchii  ) Is currently teaching me how to play.

And...I guess that's about it :D

Having done my by-weekly read through of this topic I would like to say the following:

welcome to you all, and do not worry if you do not play high elves, this is a warhammer site with a high elf theme, not a high elf site with a warhammer theme. Everyone is welcome provided they participate and parttake in the discussions of the forum, or even if they only read the posts.

I hope you will enjoy your stay :)

And woe to thee if you say that viking had horns on their helmets, cause I got a sharp viking axe at home and... Well, I am trying to be a nice fellow...

G'day, I'm clearly new here. I've had friends into Warhammer and 40K for years, and back when I used to play Magic I used to see a fair bit of the scene, I decided to jump on the wagon with the new set. One of my mates has been heavily into it for a long time and has been helping me out. We each bought a box of that Isle of Blood, I gave him the Skaven for his Elves(I don't think he's a fan ^_^'). So I have a bit of an army, it's not much yet but it is something to build off. I also got a repeater bolt thrower and some more spearmen, which are being turned into more sea guard. I plan on getting more things to put in but not until after Christmas. As I'm a complete noob my mate is doing all the assembly and painting for me, I'm paying him of course. So far he's only completed the ten Reavers but they look pretty slick. Well worth the money I've paid.
I googled High Elves and this site came up and being new I could probably use any help I can get. I've already done some reading and I'm impressed but the wealth of information here. Please be kind ^_^

Hi all

A belated hello and introduction. I had my first game of warhammer about twenty years or so ago, my lovely shiny new Dwarfs, paid for by my paper round I hasten to add! got absolutely murdered by my friends High Elves, hence my love hate relationship with our pointy eared friends. From that moment on I knew this was the game for me.

Sadly my friends who played warhammer mooved from the area and although I continued to enjoy the army books, fluff and the odd WD never really got any game time. This has changed since my brother and I started to get back into it about a year ago. Now I can afford the minatures, paints and everything so battles are much better. Though sadly I still dont get as much gametime as I would like (dont like going to the GW store if I can help it.)

Anyway thought I'd pop in and say hello.
