As he packed his pipe for the third time, the door burst open and a lean figure barged into the room. Arken looked up at the figure from under his hood, he drew on his pipe and the light illuminated his eyes. He watched the female elf closely. But he casually released a puff of smoke. Her daggers were drawn and Arken found her measure.

"tsk" Arken mouthed at the comments of this would be assassin.

Then another elf appeared between them and calmed the fiery elf woman. Kalossir had finely decided to show his face. Arken got up and gathered his things, his sword looming over his back. He walked past the elf woman with the daggers.

"Put the butter knife away little girl" Arken said and chuckled to himself as he let another puff of smoke drift from his mouth infront of the elf.

She glared at him but decided not to say anything. These creatures were not worth the effort to speak to but she was confused as to what a 'butter knife' was. She looks at her own Daggers for a time, 15 inches in leangth and jagged like the Druchii blades and the other one about 13 inches but in the elegant Asur style. It matters not the length or the style they were effective tools for torture and this human will find that out for himself if he decides to keep with those comments.

All this passed through her mind in an instance and she fixed her eyes on Kalossir waiting for him to lead her and the others. Underneath her hood she was gritting her teeth and it took her all her willpower not to piece the humans heart then and there. Druchii or not she will not be spoken down to and by a male of all kinds too, the worst of all races.

If she was to suffer this 'things' presence then this Archmage better make it worth her while, she hoped he knew this as she did not come this far to be insulted by a dirty human.

Though the appearance of the sorceror lord had startled him, Alithir did not let his face betray him in that brief instant of alarm. He had watched as others entered the room and kept his tongue guarded as some of the others bickered. Perhaps he had appeared aloof or sullen, but he felt no need to make small talk with these strangers. He thought he recognised the she-Elf in the room with them from his travels to the tower, she was as dark in person as she had appeared during their brief meeting on the road.

Alithir stood slowly and introduced himself to Kalossir. He was an Elf of noble birth, as was the Loremaster and it was only fitting that they observe the customary greetings.

Well this was un expected... That bloodly idiot Kalossir has gone and hired some wannabe heroes... Arken thought to himself as he watched the elven noble introduce himself. He leaned up against the door frame and waited for the small talk to be over with his hands in his pockets, gently puffing on his tabacco pipe.
Kalossir had some nerve to ask of me this task. After the death of S'crellion and the insults and accusations made of him. However... This Alithir... His name floats at the edges of my mind... And I can't quite grasp how I know this name... Argh! It doesn't matter this pretend warrior won't matter anyway. I just hope Kalossir is playing me well.

Kalossir again used his magic to teleport, but this time it was to bring the group to the gates of his masion. Lenaethis, his Swordmaster guard, scowled at him for leaving without an escort again. "Lenaethis," said Kalossir "I apologise for sneaking out again, but it was urgent. Come with us now, as you will be travelling with us to the north and you must also learn of the details of our mission". The Loremaster's mansion was quite simplistic for an Archmage's home. It was a circular two-storey building made of a strange white crystal. In the centre was a beautiful courtyard garden. This was were the Loremaster planned to expain things to his guests."So,"said the Loremaster"Tell me what you want to know..."

"I want to know how you know me and how you knew where i was!" Cynthia sharply replied. The teleporting did not phase her as she was used to these types of magic from the Shadow casters of Nagarythe the only difference being less light used.
"also how do you expect me to work with a human of all creatures?"

Lenaethis was about to bring up Kalossir's teleporting issue, just as the lithe elf woman burst out. His attentive gaze was immediately drawn to her. He studied her. She was angry, that he could tell easily from her tone of voice. She was also deeply troubled. There was something else Lenaethis saw in her... Something strange. Something he hadn't seen in an elf before. Ah, that was it. She was of Nagarythe. Lenaethis had never met an elf from Nagarythe before. "But my... You are beautiful..." Lenaethis thought to himself. Instantly he was appalled by his thoughts. He was a monk. He was above such base instincts.

Or so he thought. He pushed that thought to the back of his mind, and turned to address the lore master, whilst sizing up the human present in the group.
"I too am curious about this human, lore master. I am curious as to what skills he has that could not be surpassed by one of our own...?"
Next his gaze passed to the elf from Nagarythe.
"I would appreciate you giving the lore master his deserved respect, if you will." he said in a soft, yet commanding tone.
"They thought we had all but died out, but as we take to the skies our foes will tremble with fear, for they will know the True Dragon Princes have returned."

Cynthia did not like the way this swordmaster was looking at her. A kind of longing that she has seen in the eyes on many males. Especially that one Druchii Shade that...no she felt her mind start to slip away into that most hurtful of memories but managed to bring it back to the moment of hand.

"I would appreciate you giving the lore master his deserved respect, if you will." he said in a soft, yet commanding tone.
"when he answers my question i will...consider your request" she replied without looking at him again, those wondering eyes of his...she wanted to pluck them out, for the look they gave her she did not like.

Kalossir sighed."Cynthia, I know you because my closest friend is a Shadow mage from Nagarythe, and I contacted him as he knows many Shadow Warriors," Kalossir said, "I needed someone who has experience in fighting Druchii, and he recommended you. I knew where you were because I can scry anywhere on Ulthuan and most of the rest of the world with the powers of my Seerstaff. Arken, the human, was a student of S'crellion, a man I had great respect for. S'crellion would be my first choice for this mission, so his pupil is the next best thing."

Cynthia chuckles as Kalossir finishes with 'the next best thing' and thinks to herself 'maybe his in love with the humans like Teclis?' and chuckles alittle more.

She was satisfied by the answer though, it made sense after all. Her memory did not stretch to the names of the Shadowcasters she worked with in Nagarythe, perhaps she never bothered to learn their names? But it did not matter as it was true what the message said, she was needed to kill Druchii and that is never a bad thing.

"just don't spy on me again and we can be for the lack of a better word, friends" she says friends like the word is poison in her mouth needed to be spat out. She also gestures for him to continue and walks past the Swordmaster nearly brushing past his shoulder but not looking at him,
"this your home?" she observes with disgust at the building of stone, they were too much of a target and not safe, too many shadows inside a structure.

"Cynthia." Lenaethis thought to himself. So that is her name. She brushed past him without giving him a second glance. He had angered her even more. That was unfortunate...
He heard her mutter something, unfortunately out of his earshot. He looked toward her as she stalked off.
"Excuse me, Cynthia..."
He waited for her to turn to face him...

As Cynthia turned and replied, Lenaethis felt a surge of relief.
"I owe you an apology. In my haste to ensure the proper respects are paid to my master I neglected to introduce myself to you before addressing you. For this I apologize." He then looked in the faces of each of his soon-to-be traveling companions, "My name is Lenaethis, Swordmaster Captain of the White Tower, and bodyguard of the Loremaster Kalossir." He finished his introduction with a common swordmaster salute, raising his left hand to rest on his right shoulder. "And I am pleased to meet you" he said, his eyes falling on Cynthia with this last comment. "I hope you can accept my apology. I meant no disrespect". He tried as he might, but he could not read her in the slightest.

'How cute with all the formal introductions this Lenaethis thinks he is', is the only thing that was going through Cynthia's mind as he spoke to each of the soon to be companions. He also seems to think that rank should mean anything as he barks out his captain status, its times like these that she can't even stand her own kind as well as others.

She went back to studying Kalossir's mansion, mainly the windows for any would be assasins, leaving him to continue speaking.
"And I am pleased to meet you"
Not if you knew half the things i've done you wouldn't she thought with her back now to him and arms crossed over her stomach and resting each hand on the hilts of her Daggers that sit on her hips.

Alithir watched the retorts go back and forth between the others in the group. He was not concerned about who or what they were. He knew enough to be sure that the Loremaster could be trusted and that these people were all here for a reason, just as he was. The fact that the Sword Master captain, Lenaethis had already spoken to the Cynthia about her conduct was interesting though. Alithir also had trouble tolerating such wild individuals and such an Elf as Cynthia seemed wild and unpredictable. These were not the best qualities for someone who could potentially be a partner in any endeavors to come. Silently, Alithir hoped Kalossir had a different need for her than he did for him.

The Loremaster had asked what they wanted to know. Alithir, however had a more pertinent question.
"What is it you wish us to know my Lord?"

Argh... Arken thought. Telportation always made him sick. Not a moment later the elf woman was screaming again.
Couldn't she keep her heretical mouth shut. Since she walked in she hadn't stop bitching.

Arken chuckled at her coment about him, "silence your filthy tongue before you embarrass yourself more"

Kalossir better not expect me to work with these arrogant wannabe's. This noble doesn't even look like he's gotten his hands dirty since birth. And this bitch-elf is going to annoy me.
However... The captain I've heard of before... Once I think when S'crellion mentioned his expertise in survaliance. I like him, plain, practical. An efficient man.

"Arken, you do not scare me," said Kalossir "But I will get to the point. I am sure you all know of the war against the Daemons and our dark kin. Well, there are three things about this war which are different from other wars. The first is that it will be won in a single battle. The enemy will not leave the Gate for any reason. The second thing is that we have no chance whatsoever of winning. The third thing is that the majority of our opponents will vanish if a certain Daemon is exorcised. However, this Daemon is an unimaginably powerful sorcerer, bonded to a very powerful Sorceress, who is surrounded by a large number of Witch Elves. That is wh ere you come in. I am the only one who is able to exorcise such a powerful Daemon in the heat of battle, but I will need a Slaan to draw the power for me and you four to guard me while I perform the ritual. Do you understand?"

Cynthia quietly ponders the mammoth task ahead of them. She wasn't one for straight up confrontation on the battlefield her skills were more about scouting and taking out small groups at a time with ambushes not a stand off force that Kalossir is wanting her for. So why pick her?

Closing her eyes she imagines the battle before them. Screaming from all sides and blood everywhere, magical bolts being thrown around them as Kalossir and this abomination fight. The others cutting down waves after waves of enemy troops as she herself fires arrows from atop a vantage point with each arrow piercing the heartless creatures. The glory of a bloody battle and she will be left alive at the end to see to any survivors who she would eagerly delay their death and prolong their suffering for them, one at a time. Then if the human would be lucky enough to survive she would slit his throat as Cynthia has a long memory and its an unforgiving one.

A smile stretches across Cynthia's face as she thinks of all the killing she can do in this journey and she makes her choice,
"I will gladly go with you on this most...noble...of quests, for your enemies are my enemies and i will kill them all. I ask a question though, why only a small group or are we bringing an army?"

OOC:Damn, Arratak! I can't answer that! Maybe Kalossir will share a secret about S'crellion's death? Or a clue to the location of his murderers? If Arken hasn't killed them already.

Alithir was surprised to hear what Kalossir had in mind for them. The task was daunting to say the least and the others had reacted as such. Some of them stood wide-eyed and shocked at what they had been asked to do. It was the human who spoke up first, and, as was typical of his kind he thought only of himself. Next, Cynthia the she-Elf had spoken. He could see her excitement at the thought of killing yet again. Her manner worried him.

"My lord Kalossir, how is it you come by such knowledge?" questioned Alithir, "Ever are the forces of our Dark Cousins trying to ensnare and trap us with some foul scheme. How do we know this is not another of their deceptions?"

"And you, Arken", Alithir rounded on him as he spoke, "Your kind never fails to disappoint. You are a fine example of your craven and short-sighted species. What Kalossir has seen is the doom of all our peoples, and yet you shy away from the task and thought of sacrifice."

Cynthia couldn't help but chuckle alittle as Alithir turned on Arken. The human is the odd one out here and she couldn't help but enjoy this moment, her respect for Alithir increased.

She didn't feel overwhelmed by the task if anything it excited her. To kill so many Druchii and if she is to die then it would be a welcome release and she would go down taking as many as she could and this made her feel good. 'This journey may just be the best thing to happen to me' she thinks.

When, nobody knew, but another elf had appeared in the room. Nobody had heard the door or anything; he was just there when they happened to glance round.

Tall, fairly handsome and wearing clothes all of a soft green and in the Asrai style, he stood there, silent, observing. He was, after all, a waywatcher. When they were all looking at him, bemused at this newcomer, he spoke:

"Kalossir, I have studied under you here from your books. That is all good enough, but I would surely learn so much more on this expedition of yours. It sounds like you could do with my help too - you Asur hardly know how to handle your bows compared to us Asrai; I am sure I could kill a witch elf or two," when he had finished speaking, he seemed to melt back into the shadows. Even if he seemed hidden from view though, they certainly knew he was watching and listening intently.

"I have made my sacrifice already, elf! Don't presume to know me or my thoughts, for you do not, and cannot hope to comprehend the sacrifices I have made, for your arrogant race."
Arken said furiously, he was clenching his fists to stop himself from drawing his deadly sword.

Arken kept one eye on the wood elf after made his appearance.
Great... A wood elf... This just gets better and better...

Cynthia watched Arken carefully, ready to draw her bow and notch an arrow if he tries to draw his own blade and she saw that he was thinking about doing just that in his body language.

She glanced at the waywatcher for a moment when he first entered and quickly made a decision to whether or not he was a threat and came to the conclusion that he was not. Though she did not like all these people, she was used to relying only on herself and travelling on her own. To be with so many and even a couple of foreigners made her uneasy. Her eyes would dart to each one suspecting an assasin at any time. There were too many unknowns with these others and she didn't want to be caught offguard.

She was also starting to develop a very bad headache and winced at the sudden rush of pain in her head.

"Listen you naive fools, you have no idea who I am, it is rare for an outsider to even see more then lothren, but to be trained and taught your customs is a rariety indeed. I have shed my blood for your kind, only to be looked down upon and deemed unworthy. It was S'crellion and Teclis who gave me a chance to live when all others said no. While you sit in your castles and waste your centuries away I was already shedding blood to save your dying race. Your arrogance and naivety sicken me." Arken spoke angrily and spat on the ground. "how dare you even judge me."

Until this moment, Lenaethis had remained silent. He had heard the lore master's plan, and he relished the thought of finally pitting his skills in the area of true battle, where a single mistake was death. But Arken's comments were proving too much for Lenaethis to ignore. His usual calm demeanour vanished into one of anger, and he took a step closer to the human.

"Do NOT pretend you know ANYTHING of sacrifice, human. You say you had shed blood for our kind, yet this is simply nothing more than repaying a debt. We were the ones who defended this world from the onslaught of the daemons when the polar gates collapsed, whilst humans were still infighting and hitting one another with rocks! Without us none of the world would still stand. We stood alone against our dark kin, the darkest time of our history, fighting against brothers, fathers, mothers, and dear friends. YET STILL we defend the world with the precious lives of our kind, when it seems all the world remains ungrateful of OUR sacrifice, as you have said yourself. Your petty bloodshed and scars mean little to us, the members of a race of which sacrifice is a defining feature of our history. Do not dare compare your pathetic life to the sacrifices laid down by the Asur."

At this moment, Lenaethis drew his great sword with the grace of a sword master, and readied it.

"You are lucky to still be alive human. It is rare that I would take such insult from another of my kind, let alone a human. If Kalossir did not need you, you would indeed be dead. But do not test me. You walk a fine line. I am watching you. Be careful."

Lenaethis then moved to a non offensive stance, the point of his sword resting on the floor, whilst he maintained a grip on the hilt. He was ready for the human to attack, should he have the idiocy to test himself against a Swordmaster, his gaze never leaving the eyes of Arken.
"They thought we had all but died out, but as we take to the skies our foes will tremble with fear, for they will know the True Dragon Princes have returned."

Arken drew his blade as fast as the elf captain had done, and with as much grace as he. The long elven blade forged in the heart of vaul's forge. A relic that was beyond measure, the blade glowed blue and gave a very subtle hum.

"you are funny captain, but if you want to compare swords, then I will match you strike for strike." Arken said coldly staring the elven swordsman down.

little does this fool know that Teclis had sung enchantments into my body and this blessed blade is also magically enchanted. Blessed by the priests of Vaul.

Arken's stance was casual, almost careless. But he had be trained by one of the finest blademasters in Ulthuans history, S'crellion was old when he found Arken, even old by asur's standards. But he had skill and technique above and beyond. He was one of the white towers most respected agents. He taught amd raised Arken by the sword. The bruises and sores from sparring with the elf, helped Arken learn quickly, very quickly.

"Come at me then!" yelled Arken. "don't draw your sword unless you intend to use it!"
