Perin grinned and executed a courtly bow "Your wisdom is outstanding, Sir Owen. I'll be right back" he dashed off to find a servant to pilot their boat and to pickup his shield. Logically, the servants most capable of boating would be in the quarters closer to the boats.

"Some might say, that an idiot is one who might say or do stupid things. I will say however with certainty, that only an idiot would publicly attempt to insult or demean well armed and battle hardened Knights who are to be their apparent benefactors." Alain held eye contact with the man to further press home his point.

Owen heads off to find a boat. If Perin is unable to locate a servant willing to ferry them across the storm he will pilot the boat himself. Growing up he had piloted boats on the rivers rounds Salisbury and knew his way round a boat but would not wish to pilot in such a storm if he could avoid it.

ooc: Grah! Stupid busy life! And it's not likely to get any easier in the near future either.

When the two knights met again, twenty minutes later, Sir Perin had not found a pilot for the boat: the servants were superstitious and refused to travel outside in the ungodly storm. However, Sir Owen had found a small coracle, owned by a peasant couple who lived nearby and who had agreed to lend it to him. It was up to him, then. Sir Owen heaved upon the oars, but the little boat groaned and creaked dangerously from the force of the waves, and the wind inexorably blew the two away, not towards, the keep of Sir Morien. Sir Perin's eyes grew wide as he saw the amount of water that was washing into the coracle. Sir Owen began rowing more frantically, trying now to reach either the keep or the mainland before the coracle sunk, but it was a doomed endeavour, for the storm was too powerful! The little boat sank, and Sir Perin began to swim desperately. He knew he was not a powerful swimmer like Sir Galan was, but his survival was at stake! Fortunately, the waves crashing against the land bore him towards the shore, where he was able to stagger ashore, water-logged and coughing from the choking sea-water he had swallowed, but still alive. Then a thought came. He turned, looked out to sea.

There was no sign of Sir Owen.

The peasant cowered before Sir Alain's withering glare, but still was brave enough - or stupid enough - to retort, "Threaten me with violence! It's all you thugs can do! You want to help - where were you when my pig vanished?"

"Enough of this! Sir Alain may not have threatened you peasant, but I will! Now hold your tongue or I will be holding it for you! We are here to deal with the bandits now, to protect the village. And yet you have the audacity to insult us! If these bandits are such a problem why have you not stepped up and dealt with them yourself, as you clearly think yourself a bigger man than us!" Sheppard was right in the grotty little mans face, spit flying from his mouth as the rage built in his eyes. He would not have the man, or infact any one talk down to any knight and question them.

OOC: I'm back, the trip was pretty awesome but its good to be home

IC: Perin sputtered and coughed seawater out of his lungs as he pulled himself on shore. "Barinthus be blessed" he groaned as he rolled on his back. The gods truly must love him. Or have too much fun torturing him. After a moment of gathering his breath, the young knight sat upright first and when the dizzy spell had worn off, he stood. There was no sign of his friend "Owen!" he shouted, trying to make his voice heard over the storm "Owen, where are you!?" he repeated and began searching the sea and the shore for his friend.

ooc: Welcome back!

The peasant backed away from Sir Sheppard's tirade, his eyes wide, and tripped. He scrambled away upon the ground, and then turned and fled. The onlookers kept their faces studiously averted and hurried about on their business, while Old Cyiol stood impatiently, and then gestured to the two knights to follow him. He led them through the centre of the village, and then out to the outskirts, where they stopped at an unremarkable farmstead.

"This is a hideout of the bandits, my lords," he grated.

Sir Owen awoke, choking, coughing. For a moment he lay still upon the stone floor, sodden wet and freezing, coughing up briny water from his lungs. How had he survived? The last he remembered, he had been drowning, and the storm had been swallowing him... he shuddered in horrified memory. The storm was still around: he could hear it, booming about him, now that he thought about it. Water ran around him, across the stone floor, down slick stone walls. Groggily, the knight rose from where he lay to look around him. He was in a stone room, large, damp. It was dimly lit, only by the phosphorescent glow of strange-looking kelp growths. Starfish and shellfish and seaweed decorated the floors and walls; some fish flopped about upon the floor, while others still swam in small pools: it was like some underwater chamber from which the water had suddenly been removed. Sir Owen paused for a moment to vomit up bile and seawater, and grabbed a wall to support himself, before the spell receded. For now, somehow, he was alive. The question was - where was he, and what would he do now?

"Yes, Sir Knight, all coming from thataways," Old Cyiol said, pointing away from the town, towards the north. "I hid, and they didn't see me - behind... that bush there."

The pause was almost imperceptible, but Sir Alain, suspicious already, noticed it. Old Cyiol had paused for a heartbeat and looked around for a second, not looking straight at the bush. The old man was lying.

Owen knew enough of the sea to know that when tides ebb they will also flow and return. The chamber he was in would most likely be filled with water agaign soon. He knew he had two options. Firstly he could look for a tunnel that headed upwards which could potentially lead him to the surface, presumably into Sir Morien's castle if luck was with him. Or secondly he could search for a way back out into the sea from the cave for he had surely been drug here by the tides. For the moment he would choose the first option knowing his swimmming is incredibly poor.

So with that decided Owen begins searching the the cave for an upwards leading passage, moving gingerly to avoid having a another spell of sickness.

Sir Owen's strength rapidly returned to him as he made his way through the stone halls. As he did so, he took note of his surroundings. This place seemed to be a castle - an underwater castle, made open to the air with the shifting of the tides. He was not the first to find it either: to his distaste he saw the skeletal remains of a man who must have drowned in this place. Was this the abode of fairies, or had an entire castle fallen into the ocean? There was no way of knowing - but, as the water was beginning to slosh about his ankles, there was no time to wonder either. The knight broke into a jog, looking for some sort of exit, before the tides swept back in and he joined the skeleton forever. The water was mid-shin now, and Sir Owen was now splashing through water, his desperate progress slowed. No sign had he found of an exit, and the water was rising swiftly now! Then the water was filling the room entirely, and Sir Owen took one final desperate breath as the last of the air was driven forth from the ruins. There was a door before him, and the knight kicked it open - its rotten timbers shattering easily beneath his boot. Through it, he could see stairs, and the sky above - and water, rapidly filling the spiral staircase! His lungs burning, Sir Owen half swam, half scrambled up the stairs. Just as his vision began to fade, and he felt that he would surely be forced to open his mouth and drown here, the waterlogged knight reached the surface. He gasped for breath as spray and wind battered him, and collapsed upon the rocks, exhausted. In a moment he would see where he was - for now, it was enough simply to be breathing the air freely once more! After an indeterminate amount of time, Sir Owen hauled himself upright and looked around. He was shivering violently now: the freezing waters had pierced him to the bone, and if he did not find shelter soon, he might catch his death of the cold. Looking around, his vision still blurry from sea-salt, he saw that he was upon jagged black rocks, and the castle of Sir Morian loomed above him. He was on the island successfully that he had been trying to reach with Sir Perin... where was Sir Perin? Had his companion drowned in the storm? And what would Sir Owen do now?

Where was Sir Perin? thinks Owen rapidly. He begins to search the surronding shore for his friend but soon gives up as he fails ro find the Peacock Knight.

With no sign of Ser Perin Owen resovles to head towards Sir Morien's castle intent on stopping the fae creatures they had seen from the opposite shore. Once he had settled things in the castle he would then search agaign for Perin, this time more thouroghly.

"Eh?" said Cyiol, blinking. "I don't understand. The bandits are in there!"

*******

Sir Owen made his way along the rocks. Once he slipped, and fell upon the wet rocks, twisting his leg and staining the rocks with his blood. Staggering upright, the knight saw an open window, within jumping distance. Sir Owen leaped for the window, seizing hold awkwardly and feeling as if he had nearly pulled his arm out of its socket in the process! Straining, the Kingkiller pulled himself up and into Sir Morian's castle, collapsing in a sodden heap upon the floor.

"Halt! Trespasser, surrender!"

With the sound of the storm, Sir Owen had not heard the sound of the guardsman approaching. Now a man-at-arms stood, his spear pointed at the knight. Under normal conditions, Sir Owen knew that he could overcome or escape from this man; half drowned and battered close to death, the outcome would be uncertain.

"I am no trespasser man-at arms. I am Sir Owen of Salisbury and Sir Morien's guest." says Owen sternly with as much command as he could muster. "I have crossed the treachorous sea, almost drowned in some godless cavern, and climbed these walls to get here to aid Sir Morien, and that torrid storm no less. Take me to Sir Morien and Lady Rosyland immediatly if you value your lord's life."

Going to leave the other plot thread for Sir Sheppard to reply to.

The guardsman did not seem to believe the soaking, bleeding, spluttering man who had just climbed through a window! His spear tip did not waver. Talking was no longer an option: now it was fight or flight.

Seeing no other option Owen draws his blade from its scabbard and turned to face his opponent.

"I have no wish to fight you but you give me no choice. Be forewarned I have killed many foes almost all more skilled than you. Flee and I will let you live."

With his warning issued Owen begins advancing towards the guardsmen completely focused upon the upcoming fight.

OOC: Owens fighting all out here. If the guardsmen is knocked out, surrenders, or flees Owen will let him live but otherwise its kill or be killed.

"Intruder! Intruder in the castle!" the guardsman cried, thrusting forward with his spear. Even weary and wounded, Sir Owen easily avoided the blow, and returned it with twice the force, tearing a bloody furrow upon his foe's arm through the leather of his jerkin. The guard's eyes widened and he turned to flee, still crying for aid.

Owen allows the guardman to escape making no effort to stop his flight. Instead the knight begins heading in the opposite direction intent on making his way towards the highest portion of the keep hoping that along the way he will find Sir Morien and Lady Rosyland.

Sir Owen made his way swiftly through the small keep, doing his best to avoid the guardsmen, who he could hear moving around, looking for him - and they had almost certainly found his trail, for in the condition that he was in it was impossible not to leave brine and blood behind him! The lady, surely, would be in the solar or have a suite thereabouts. Climbing a flight of stairs, the weary knight began his search. Before long, he had come to a locked door. There was only silence inside...

Owen raps upon the door heavily before speaking in a normal tone, careful not to raise his voice too much lest he aid the guards in their search. "Rosyland it is I Sir Owen. Please unlock this door I've come to save you from a terrible danger." His words earnest and from the heart.
