Agree with HERO, I'd replace Korhil with a BSB for the re-roll.
I'd swap the Banner of Sorcery for the Standard of Balance. You have nine PD plus the Ring which should be enough. Conversely, the Lions are vulnerable to autobreaking without Balance and it carries other benefits too.

Re: Observations on High Elven Wargaming
It's really depressing that two of the best posters on here are at each other's throats. I agree that the High Elf book lacks flexibility and flavour. If you have enough ideas for an army though this should not be enough to stop you IMHO. Winning tournaments with them is another matter. Ask Ant Spie...

Re: First fantasy army, 2250
11 and 12+ spells are not a problem for the Dragon Mage as he adds his free 'reckless' die to the three he would normally use.
That said I really appreciate your stuff PapaElf. Each time I read it I think 'that's true, that's right, why didn't I realise this before...'.

Korhil's Stubborn but he can't take the ToL.

Also Dragon Armour can come in handy.

HERO, Seredain swears by it. The chances of Killing Blow are really rather good when you factor in Loec. I guess the Noble needs to pick his targets though.

Re: Your biggest tactical Pet Pieve
I think everyone's books are falling apart! :( I guess we have White Sword for the Killing Blow thing but I take the point Mabbz. Yes 40pts is a lot for a Hero to spend on it but Seredain and others have a lot of joy with the WS+Talisman of Loec combo on a Noble. We have some very good magic items. ...

Well played!
Exactly what magic defence did he have? Obviously killing the Priest must have helped. I just feel even an average magic defence should be able to fend off six power dice for most of the game.
I love White Lions.

The only mage not to give the +1 to dispel is the Dragon Mage. All others give it, irrespective of which lore they take.

Re: A Young Prince's Caledorian Warhost (2000 points)
As it stands I don't think this battle line is going to break the enemy, unless one of the DP units gets a good match-up. It'll need the Dragon to make a hole somewhere. I'm a Lion man myself but I'm not sure using these instead of PG would make a huge difference. Swordmasters would have more killin...

Re: A Young Prince's Caledorian Warhost (2000 points)
I really like the Sun Dragon idea. A bit wary of the Battle Banner in a 5-strong DP unit. Also your spear units are Ld8 with no fear-immunity and only one will get a break test re-roll. I'd worry about a powerful enemy unit punching right through them. Personally I'd put the BSB on foot in the Phoen...

Re: Dragon Mage Considerations
I take the point, it's not like running a horsed mage round behind the enemy I guess. Enough shots will take him out though, even S3 archery. I like the Golden Crown. I'm not sure it's quite worth 40pts but I was looking at it as being stackable with Shield of Saphery. Also it's pleasing to know tha...

The critiques I've seen of the DM don't question his offensive power. It's his fragility that worries them. A lot of players make it work though.

Yeah get a scroll caddy and some Eagles in there. Low-strength shooting hurts Wood Elves.
The Peasant army's a fab idea but I couldn't put together a list I was happy with.
This Elf list is a lot more shooty.

I'd switch Sorcery to the Dragon Princes. The Lions really need a fear-fighting banner. Then at 2250 put Sorcery in the Phoenix Guard, as suggested.

Re: Commandment of Brass and Khemri Chariots
Thanks for that. I was just looking at ways of countering the Khemri magic phase, immune as it is to Drain Magic. I assume that Urgency would override Commandment but at least the Khemri player has already lost his normal movement phase, hence the nasty flank charges become a lot harder to organise....
