Re: Ulthuan Culture - Class
Like Asurion I believe that elves are fairly resilient to mental problems. As a people, you don't survive for long if every 100 years or so you get suicidal tendencies. However, I do feel that at some point a high elf has done everything in his live he wants and that at this point he decides to die....

Hi Long time lurker but first time poster! Just though I'd point out that although the BRB says his is MC, it also eludes to the fact the the Army Books rules take precidence over the BRB (I think is a well known rule in WFB and 40K). I've checked our book and Tyrion is not MC, I've also checked th...

why does he count as monstrous cavalry? the horse only has one wound so he's just normal cav??? he should be fine in any normal cavalry unit, getting 2+ LoS and a 4+ from being within 3" of a cavalry unit. unless i've missed something?? basically, because it sais so in the BRB, which is all th...

Re: Strategies for army types - naming thread
Perhaps we can take the system I proposed with the msu/mmu/flu designations a step further. How about a system were you have a "family" name describing what sub-category the army belongs and (if so desired) a furter descriptive tag that details what sub-tactics you choose. The msu/mmu/flu ...

Re: Ulthuan Culture - Class
another thing to keep in mind is that during his live the influence an elf wields will probably vary along with his fortunes. Everyone likes a winner and while you may keep "winning" for 50 odd years, to keep doing it for a 1000+ years is kind of hard. So, noble houses will wax and wane in...

Re: Strategies for army types - naming thread
personally I would make the categories easier and have a few sub levels. This should create a few routes in which to aproach tactics and army building. I would start with listing the dominant factor in tactics / list design. As for naming them, I would keep the main groups fairly generic and only gi...

As others have said, no he is not. His main problems are, in random order: - points cost. For fewer points you can get a lord that performs similarly. For a few more you get a star dragon - survivability: in last edition, this was his strong point, with a 1+ armour save, dragon armour, 4+ ward and 4...

1. If a wizard within 6" casts a spell with Irrestible Force, ignore the Miscast. One use per turn. 2. You gain D6 Power Dices, but The Stone is useless to the end of the game. One use only. 3. If your Wizard suffers from Miscast you can roll D6 on 3+ deal D3 s10 hits to the stone, on 1-2 roll...

Re: Resolving several RiP's
This is one of those situations were the sequencing rule comes into play. If 2 actions happen at the same time (like 'at the start of the magic phase'), then the player whose turn it is can choose the sequence in which they occur. 2 RiP spells with effects that happen at the start of the magic phase...

Their "benefit" is the +1PD when casting spells, but you don't get a choice, its always added on. Sometimes you might not want that. Care to explain? I can't imagine a single situation when I wouldn't want to use a free dice. In my view, with the low casting cost of the lore of fire you c...

Re: Would you do this?
I did notice that no exception is granted in the charge rules, but that means that to conform to an enemy unit's facing, rather than them moving to align to your unit, you would have to touch their unit with the leading front corner of your unit (on their front corner so that models were maximized)...

Re: Would you do this?
Simple answer to this tactic. Charge a hero out of the unit being blocked. It's a big nasty unit if it's wide enough for this trick to work, or be worth performing, and so probably has a character in it. Delays you for a bit, sure, but you get a free 50 VPs and eagles could delay you for a turn any...

it of course depends on how cheesy / though you want to make your list. I would also go for whatever looks good at this points value. If you want cheesy (and have a lot of powerdice to play with) I would go for at least Teclis, BoH and mages with the Vortex shard (to simply delete a skaven magic pha...

Re: against Daemon
tailoring magic lore to opponents is illegal. Never heard of this before... That's because it's not. You do have to write your chosen lore on your army list. But there is no rule saying that you can't change your army list from one game to the next. So changing your lore between games is the same a...

This thread is meant to be about the Fluff, not rules, I believe thats "Whats the best Army?". Anyway, with Chaos Dwarves, I think it's widely accepted that they have joined with the rest of the Chaos Mortal Realm, they're still there, just keeping themselves undercover, as it were... My ...

Re: What's the best Race/Species in Warhammer.
The way the Warhammer world is built and run results in all races being equal. Reasoning is simply this. If one race was better then the others, then that race would rise to dominate the others. And for all its warfare, the warhammer world is actually a very static thing. For the past few 100 years ...

not sure if it is 100% legal. And I would certainly not do this or play someone who would try to pull this on me. I would solve this situation in either of 2 ways: - you charge both eagles. Since you can't 'close the door' the eagles are forced to close the door and wheel until you hit their front r...

Can all archers shoot in the unit of trays 5x4? That would mean 20 archers shooting at the same time, but then it would be overpowered. Or is it in the two first ranks that can shoot? Re: Movement Trays
It probably depends on your armylist, but I would go for no. Most people field archer units in multiples of 5, with 10 being the most common. With only 10 archers in a unit they can all shoot, are small enough not to attract attention from you opponent (and cheap enough if they do). And they are man...

bear in mind that caradryan and the WL both have ASF, thus will be striking simultaneously (no kidding, right?) the reason this is important is that the beast will still get its regen against the WL attacks. the attacks are happening at the same time so caradryan can't cancel the regen before the W...

As for taking apart models it probably depends on how you glued them together. For metal models glued together with super glue I've heard that repeated freezing and/or heating can break the bond (as the metal expands and contracts at a different rate from the glue), but I'm not sure how fast or effe...
