Re: Secret Santa 2014

A magnificent Wight King from Santa! The pictures don't do justice to just how clean the painting is, and the amazing blending along the sword. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y384/Stewp111/Mobile%20Uploads/3C8A8956-FCF4-4CB7-BBC2-E3F837F962DF_zpsc45z5cho.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Scottish Independence... maybe

There's a lot of very interesting discussion and I must say Seredain you make some good points. I would contend that the vast majority of Scots would call themselves Scottish before British, rightly or wrongly that will always be a factor. Britishness, for Scotland, particularly younger Scots, doesn...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

Yes and No representatives who were there said those were simply uncounted votes waiting on the No table. It's possible the vote was rigged I suppose but I don't really want to get too conspiracy theory about everything. You're completely right. Yes would have won a majority if voters over 65 were e...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

Pretty strong No vote. However still a strong Yes vote, stronger than was expected when the referendum was agreed to I'm sure. Disappointing personally for me but I think there's a lot to be hopeful about. David Cameron (as much as it pains me to admit it) made a pretty good speech, suggesting movem...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

An IMS poll actually showed that no voters were most likely to be motivated by feelings towards UK. Yes voters are moved by dissatisfaction by UK government. Further devolution is something that has been promised in some ways, but with no consensus and no actual guarantee. Were it on the ballot it w...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

I think I would agree with this sentiment. When I think of EU "enlargement" I think countries like Turkey, their entry has been discussed since I was in the UK last in 2003, Serbia, and Moldova (?). In reality accepting Scotland into the EU really wouldn't be enlarging it's just another n...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

I've not heard that about the EU, do you have a link, googling wasn't turning much up. Scotland wouldn't actually be independent until 2016 so there is a decent amount of time to negotiate and see what the options are there as the EU doesn't seem to have made a statement of anything yet. I read it ...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

I read that the EU announced it won't accept any new members for (can't remember the number, but almost definitely less than 10 and probably around 5) years. So Scotland wouldn't be able to join the EU immediately. Plus, if Scotland decided to use the Pound without a currency union, apparently they...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe

The argument for Scotland remaining automatically in the EU is something along the lines of removing Scot's EU citizenship being ruled illegal. There is no precedent and the argument doesn't sound that convincing to me so I could definitely see Scotland having to apply as a new member nation. And th...

@facade Very diplomatic reply  I do think that both sides do have some pretty convincing arguments and I wouldn't say I'm so strongly in favour of Yes that I wouldn't consider changing. Scottish Independence... maybe

As you may know, Scotland will be holding a referendum on independence in about a week. The Yes campaign recently "shocked" the UK with polls showing a 22 point no lead turn to a 2 point yes lead within a month as undecided voters migrate to yes and the no base weakens. This has left Westm...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated - first time in 3 years!)

Now some zombies! I recieved these in rather poor condition but fortunately unpainted. With a bit of work I think they look presentable, they're only zombies after all. This photo is just basecoats and they've yet to be washed or highlighted but I thought I'd at least show that I've done something! ...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated - first time in 3 years!)

They are indeed quite nice models, very simple but with nice clear shapes. They are very clear 2D casts though, particularly in the chaos warrior's case. They're also pretty tiny compared to modern models. I took this scale shot next to a random spearman which are already smaller than more modern hi...

Re: Is warhammer fantasy country binded?

Interestingly in Australia the average weekly income is around $1350 WTF? That's double what I get paid a week! I started with a double starter set, and I can tell you, I had no beer for a fortnight after I ordered it. Indeed while getting those numbers I found a nice graph showing income distribut...

Re: Is warhammer fantasy country binded?

Indeed in the UK the average weekly income is £463. The IoB is around £60. Less than 1/7 of weekly income. Interestingly in Australia the average weekly income is around $1350 and the island of blood is $165 so despite being far greater in absolute terms it's only 1/8 of weekly income. So yes, Easte...

Re: Let's give this writing thing a shot

Krohan-kis reflected on his life choices so far. In retrospect the entire chaos thing was probably a mistake: his skin now closely resembled a rotten tomato and whilst horns sound awesome they quickly became a real issue when trying to sleep comfortably. And that’s before even considering how havin...

Let's give this writing thing a shot

It's been a long long time and I feel I should start back into this whole forum and war game thing in a gentle way: with some writing. I'm not planning to be in any way consistent, I write about whatever character inspires me at that time and then they may remain forgotten forever. Without further a...
