Re: Introduction topic
I've played all editions form fifth, but very sporadically. I hadn't a club at that time and was to busy with other things (gaming and real life wise) to search and build up one. We have dabbled at the club a bit in Frostgrave, which was easy because I have a large collection of fantasy models. I've...

Re: Introduction topic
Hi all, just reintroducing myself. As you see, I've been here for a while, as I was on the various former incarnations and lifeboats of the Ulthuan community. But for years I have mainly lurked. I've always kept painting though, consistently high elves, but with a lot of other stuff inbetween. I was...

Size Swordmasters Units
Hi all, I have played warhammer in several editions, I'm using Warhammer Renaissance at this point and I'm planning to use either 9th age or The Warhammer Armies Project as well to play with my High Elves. Question: do (in any edition you ar willing to talk about) larger units (say 10+) of Swordmast...

Size Comparison Lumineth Horsemen/Silver Helms and Infantry
Hi all, another size comparison question:
How do the Lumineth horsemen size up with the plastic Silver Helms?/Elf cavalry in general?
And how do the infantry size up with their equivalents?

Size comparison Silver Helms/LOTR Knights of Dol Amroth
Hi all,
Does anyone know how the LOTR Knights of Dol Amroth compare to (4th Edition respectively 5th edition) Silver Helms?
The 5+ edition SH have the big horses, but the 4th ed had the old caparisoned GW horse. They ar a bit smaller, and I would like to know how the knights fit with those.

Re: New AoS Play Test
I think it's a (very) different game and should be seen as such. There is very little overlap between WH and AoS, other then that they share the same models and both use dice. From what I understand and see it's actually closer to 40k then to WH fantasy. I think if you want something closer to WH t...

Re: How GW is doing?
I think it is Brexit. That they are not very clear about it, is political: the WH public is probably very mixed in its opinion on Brexit en moreover, they do not want to be classified as taking a political stance and/or being branded as a player in an alleged 'project fear'.

Re: Seriously Games workshop?
This is currently not the case for GW. I think they managed to push the technology to such a point where they can do pretty much whatever they want. So, that is what they do. They do not have to look for creative solutions. It's a bit similar to action movies that rely too much on graphical effects...

Re: Seriously Games workshop?
I'm probably the only one here, but I actually like some of the models (although they do not fit in my armies or way orf playing fantasy, which is more traditional). They went another way, they go all out in that, and although it is not for me, I am impressed. I love the 40K dragsters, I like that t...

Re: Illustrations of Scythians (2017 Image Salvage)
Yes, but that was in the successor era So under the Seleucids? I knew they had them but not that the description started there. You were right, the Hypaspist seem to have changed their name toward the end of the Alexandrian campaign into the silver shields. The Seleicid silver shields were a later ...

Re: Trying to decide what to do with some high elves.
I'm with you on the 6th ed. plastics, they were actually quite bad, although both boxes had differnt flaws: the spears were too thick, the arms and feet too big, although the helpts were ok - which fitted the much better proportioned archers with the bad hairdo. The cavalry were a chore, just 6 were...

Re: Illustrations of Scythians (2017 Image Salvage)
Yes, but that was in the successor era. The arms and armor of the macedonian hypaspists are not well known. Some think that they were some kind of light hoplites, others think thay may have been heavy peltasts. We know thet they were well trained ant loyal troops, so they may have served multiple ro...

Hypaspists perhaps? Furthermore one may doubt that Alexander's veteran pikemen would use their pikes when that was obviously impractical. One would assume that experienced fighting men would become trained is more than one weapon, especially since both in later stadia of A's trek into Asia, but also...

I just keep - slowly, as ever - building up my armies (HE, a bit of DoW - and I have bought two small others later), inbetween some historic projects and occasional loose models o small groups. I have a big hoard and I keep using squares. I juist use the models for what I want. I've played Song of B...

You might think of The Russian Alternative as well, very peculiar, but in Elves they have only 2 heroes and a set of spears. http://stores.ebay.com/The-Russian-Alternative/_i.html?rt=nc&_sid=952338795&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1513&_pgn=2 You might combine those with the recent Archer model ...

Re: Help for slender High Elves models
RP is a very old brand. I do not see the models 'live' very often, but they do meet you criteria, I think. Ral Partha: http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/shop/ral-partha-fantasy-c-37/fantasy-armies-c-37_39/elves-c-37_39_47/ Gamezone is a Spanish alternative for GW. They can lo very good, but I hear th...

Re: Elves Rampant - Avelorn and Chrace skirmish log
The 4th edition spears and bows work very well. I have them in plastic, big units of white with blue facings and smaller bow units, one with red facings and one dressed in green. If set up as big spear or archer unit, or combined bow+spear, they look very disciplined. And you know what is so nice? W...
