In my opinion Infantry HE is nowhere near as powerful as the helm bus + frosties setup.

I am really concerned where this game is heading. With so much fluff build up I can't figure out how GW will reset the game to pre end time situations.
I am really on the brink of warmahordes even if I think it is a significantly worse game/models simply because it's stable.

try a lvl 2 with fire and ring of fury with the lore master. gives you... 2x fireball, ring, light default, metal default, death default. Lots of raw damage until you get to CC. There is also a chance to roll flaming sword with the lvl2.

The rank and file pegs are plastic, the hero version is metal and comes with a cav base (useless) and is direct order only and is more expensive. Both come in single packs.

Thanks for all the comments. I've ended up choosing dwarfs again after practicing with true metallics. I like that race as much as high elves with the added benefit of liking their miniature range! Classic longbeards are in the post. Stay tuned
