Re: PG And WL

Korhil - Stubborn + Killing blow adds to killing ability of PG (And gives them forest strider! Woo!) Caradryan brings a fear test for enemies fighting White Lions (you fail a fear test against Caradryan = WS1 against lions). He also grants MR3 (which would make the PG unit a 2+ ward, but gives the W...

Re: This may be really stupid but why have FC on archers

I almost always add the banner for Blood and Glory purposes. As most of our units perform perfectly well without the added CR, and if these units get caught, thats just more reason to keep them out of fights (and they auto lose the standard if they flee). Putting the standard in the archers bolsters...

Re: MSU HE - What about background stories?

This also brings into play character selection. Decide the main character (this doesn't have to be the general), and then fill in the ranks accordingly. Is it a mage? Is he filling a support role in a grand expedition, is the army itself a full entourage to protect him? What's his relationship with ...

Re: 2000 Pt Tournament - Escalation

The benefit of making the hero the CC king and the Prince the support is that you really benefit from the utility (just as you bring a mage with seer staff purple sun, not an archmage for purple sun.) The CC Hero is going to be put into harms way. I expect him to do major damage, take out the bigges...

The Prince with Seafarer bow is very useful! Ability to snipe single target high priority models (pegaus knights, pegasus empire models, mid toughness targets, etc) it's very useful! Plus, though I haven't encountered high AS low T models, it should come in handy against both empire armies (one is f...

Re: Blade of Leaping Gold/Potion of Strength

Double cast savage beasts of Horros with seerstaff mage + archmage = +6 st +6 attacks

Put that in a death star, with nobles/prince in front rank, mages in second rank.

If you get off an AOE horros, you reform the second round to have mages in first rank as well doing 4-7 str 7-10 attacks as well.

Thing is for 25pts i thought the sabretusk was an easy kill for my Eagle being 50pts. Thats why i charged it. Not for nothing, but using an eagle to fight a sabretusk is a poor use of an eagle :/ I don't charge with an eagle, ever (unless I'm hoping to add a rear charge for +3 combat resolution to an active combat). Maybe useul for taking out a cannon, or keeping ranged folk in combat so they can't shoot ou...

I find my army runs into serious trouble running into heavy units with regen.

Abomination, trolls, chaos trolls, hydra, etc. At the very least, have one of the archer unit with the banner of eternal flame (ping a few wounds, make the regen unit a little vulnerable).

Lessening the Dragon Princes is definitely an option. I'm basically paying a lot for an additional 3 str 5 attacks, plus the ability to challenge models. I do plan to use the Phoenix guard as a deathstar unit. With full comand and heroes up front, the unit can shift a mighty 5 inches a turn, churnin...

Unmodifiied Leadership for a leadership test is not the same as the leadership of a model. A leadership test is against the highest leadersh...

Fun fact - if a unit (say halbediers) with a captain (with mask of EEEEE) fights a unit of phoenix guard... Halbediers test for fear from the phoenix guard, and the phoenix guard test for fear from the captain! Is a terror test a model to model test? Or a numerical advantage test? I would think that...

Death magic - Snipe? You snipe the model's leadership, so you're going against leadership 4. Should be cake. A RGoH prince rolling a 1 against a 6 for the hellcannon gets a wound a turn. A 3 against a 4 roll kills it automatically. Specifically... Every cast by the RGoH prince against an unwounded H...

Re: 500pt.-3000pt. Escalation Build Up

At 500 points, our combination of shooting core, flame mage, and ASF makes our army pretty dominat. When you hit 1000 though, you face ugly things like abominations and siege lines, as well as heavy hitters in large degrees, so we tend to suffer more in this range. But then when you get back to 2k r...

The benefit of the +2-+4 power dice is not just in those high power dice turns, but rather the extremely low power dice turns (when you'll be able to benefit the most from the smaller pool). You roll a 2 for power dice, your enemy only has 1 dispel dice to your potential 6 power dice! Even rolling a...

On turn 2, I'm not sure why you went for the heavy magic phase. You already have his BSB in combat, and it should be wiped that round, meaning you'll have 4 more turns of non-miscasting goodness to enjoy. I could see going for some heavy casting if the charge failed, but the combat was a surefire th...

I'll have to double check when I get home, but I'm fairly certain a character with a skirmish unit shares skirmishing.

I also think I read that lone characters/models don't have skirmishing (this might have been a flying thing though).

Looking at his list, Leadbelcher shooting does cruel and horrible things to High Elf armies, and impact hits are your enemy, so despite having the strong banishment and mass archers, I'd really aim to be aggressive and get into combat quickly. To that extent, on the western front, move the infantry ...

Turn 1 you get into range, but turn 2-4 you're a shooting platform, that forces the enemy to come to you. They also get a solid stand and shoot reaction. and can decently as a unit. You don't need to be maneuvering all over the place, and at the most, you simply use a swift reform and swivel the unit.

You only really need them to be 12-15 wide (24 is a little ludicrous). 15 wide, you get 40 shots a turn standing still, or 30 shots if you move. Still reasonable. I think Lore of Beasts may be a reasonable option as well? Maybe as a supporting spell lore (+1st and +1 T make spearmen a very viable op...
