Re: A new painting blog - NEW OK Army project started

There is something about Ogres that screams "Striped Pants!" :D I like it. It creates both distinctive units and a coherent army. Totally agree! The whole is progressing nicely. It's already better than some painted armies out there. Thank you kindly, although I would not consider fieldin...

Re: A new painting blog - NEW OK Army project started

I've been quiet lately, but not idle. The army is becoming definitely more colourful, even though no unit is complete because I keep working on (almost) all infantry models in parallel. _DSC8227.jpg _DSC8228.jpg _DSC8230.jpg I've also been playing with stripy pants, lots of fun here: _DSC8232.jpg _D...

Wow!
I had somehow overlooked this thread when you resurrected it. Maybe because it was in a period where I was less active.
Anyhow, your miniatures are stunning.
Beautiful colours, clean painting, no surprise you did so well at the painting awards.

Re: A new painting blog - NEW OK Army project started

I have been painting for a while without posting updates. In reality, despite the amount of work done, it is not yet very evident, just a lot of base coating. _DSC7822.JPG I will now concentrate for some time on the bulls, the simplest and least flashy troops. If they don't come out too well I won't...

his army lists are totally different from mine. I believe you've yet to post a draft Ogre list MoN? I looked a year or two ago and most of these miniatures were available on eBay. I especially liked Rusty's archer conversions given that the missile weapon of choice in the range was the crossbow. Yo...

Re: A new painting blog - NEW OK Army project started

So a few questions and observations: 1) I love the kitbashed standard on the Thundertusk. It makes an already dominating model even taller! That's not kit bashed, it is the official model. 2) Does the Rhinox count as a Mournfang and join that unit? No, it's another type of cavalry, still a special,...

Prince of Spires wrote: Tue Sep 26, 2023 2:16 pm Nice! It looks like you're making fairly good progress. Are they quicker to paint than elves or does it not matter?
For the moment it feels quicker. Less detailed and also using the airbrush.
It will slow down when I get to the numerous little accessories and the characters.

Progress is being made: yesterday I put a base coat for all skins and then added a lighter highlight layer.

Re: A new painting blog - NEW OK Army project started

Bravo MoN, I love armies of big guys! Somewhere on the site there's a beautiful army of Wolfen. This looks fascinating and good to see the Monsters which often get omitted from harshly competitve lists. Is the unit of four on the right Maneaters? I especially like the Rhinox. I tried to look for it...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

MasterOfNone, Thanks for the question. In truth I hadn’t considered Caradrayan at all. My starting points were collectively 1) I need a BSB, 2) I’d like some more high strength attacks and 3) my lord allocation was full (essentially I give up the chance to take a dragon by insisting on an archmage)...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge

Good idea but I have to drop the Razor Standard for that. I feel Razor is more important than Swooping Strike or the Ring (you do generate six spells). Hard to count on getting Wildform off when you need it against good armour. So in both cases I can hope to roll a good spell, or a double, ending w...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge

How about this? It's the Griffon Brothers! That is wild. Compared to Seredain's list you're scaling back the main block and ceding an RBT but that third, powerful, monster must allow you to be more aggressive. It's a bit risky but I'd be tempted to put a 4+ Ward on one Mage and put him in the PG wi...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge

I see no way of having a good magic phase with him. I feel a second Lvl 2 on the same Lore with Dispel Scroll and a magic ring would be respectable. Adding a third Mage could make it quite tasty. How about this? I would give the two wizards Shadow and High, and Eltharion Shadow or Beasts. ++ Standa...

I do use an airbrush for painting my miniatures, although I cannot claim to be an expert. I like a lot the techniques shown by a guy called Marco Frisoni on Youtube, his channel is Not Just Mecha. Often black priming followed by zenithal highlighting with a very bright and fine white does an excelle...

Interesting how this features 3rd, 4th and 6th edition models! Especially as the archers themselves seem almost proto-3rd to my eye. Splendid unit MoN. As a bonus, I managed to get two more HE archers of the same kind I posted before and a command unit, so that the five new models take my unit to a much more useful 24 with full command:
