Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Finally got 2000 points of 7th/8th Edition Skaven. Added 20 Plague Monks, 10 more Stormvermin, a Hellpit Abomination, a Warp Lightning Cannon, and a Grey Seer on a Screaming Bell. I still have my High Elves in the queue, but I need four more Ellyrian Reavers and they stalled me out. The damn details...

Re: Thoughts on Swordmasters of Hoeth (Warhammer Armies Project)

I really think the way he's changed great weapons is awful, especially since armor was buffed across the board. I think Swordmasters would be just fine if they kept the +2S, maybe with a "Greatsword of Hoeth" special rule. Phoenix Guard now having 2A with Polearms, the improved Heavy Armou...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Small update. Really wish I could have gone back in time and made myself clean up this chariot a lot better before assembling it. Either way, I've got 500 points of 8th Edition High Elves brewing for a painting competition on the Old World Discord. It includes a Battle Standard Bearer, 5 Ellyrian Re...

Yeah, I've decided this chariot crew is going first. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and regluing a few parts with some plastic cement to make sure they're absolutely solid! Looking forward to also putting this into a list in the near future!

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Hail friends. With the winter lull right around the corner, I'm looking to get back into some High Elf painting. I've got a battle standard bearer, a mage on foot, a lion chariot, 8 silverhelms, and 16 spearmen. Not sure where to start, but looking forward to starting! https://i.imgur.com/OXhMf7M.jpg

Re: 6th edition homebrew rules

Probably strongest but other respectable builds exist. I remember fighting a decent list at the time which was built around infantry. It had a spear block, two units of archers, two RBT, Swordmaster block and some cavalry. The magic was strong, Curse of Arrow Attraction caused me a lot of trouble. ...

Re: Why is Imrik missing?

(first post here) Does anybody know why Imrik was left out of 7th-8th edition, but his magic items are available? As a big fan of his character it's annoying that he wasn't just left out, but actively dismantled into just a handful of items you could give to anyone. He's in the End Times rulebooks ...

Re: 6th edition homebrew rules

I'm about to start a pretty loose 6th edition campaign with some work folks and having looked through the book, I like these errata a lot. An all cavalry High Elf list doesn't feel thematic, but it seems that's the best way to make High Elves work in 6th. I doubt they'd be game to include errata lik...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

What a result, an excellent ensemble. :) How did the play go? Thank you! It went great. With such a small points limit (850), we managed to play two fairly quick games. The first one went in favor of the High Elves, without a BSB, and not enough numbers to consistently maintain max rank bonuses a f...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

After more than 10 years of these models either sitting in storage, or finally being painted up during Quarantine, or having to be picked up from some over priced eBay auction, I have a FULL Island of Blood set painted up, and ready for battle. This is the box that got me excited about Warhammer way...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Yeah, I think the biggest problem I had (that I didn't really solve) was how to hold it for painting lol I started with just holding it in my hand, but I have fairly oily skin, so I wore off some of the Chaos Black basecoat on the bottom. I tried just laying it on my cutting mat, but that moved arou...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Since I'm going to be participating in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle/ The Old World Discord army painting challenge, I've set aside my Skaven until July. In the meantime, I've magnetized and starting working on this Frostheart Phoenix. I've got a lot of snowflakes to finish on the top surface, along ...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

I've done a couple of test models to figure out how I want to do the traditional High Elf "fans" on their armor and uniforms. Once again, regretting leaving these little details all for the end. Along with the eyes and gems, this is going to be slow going, but at least they're starting fro...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

And some of my favorite models in the entire Island of Blood set, the Rat Ogres. I really wish there were a third model with this sculpt style so they wouldn't look so repetitive if you want to do units bigger than 2 ogres.

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Thanks, the definition is all thanks to liberal washes of Agrax Earthshade. I painted these with a speed paint technique so I can do their massive rat blocks in a reasonable time. So very different than painting High Elves. The shield in the back definitely looks grey in that photo, but it is indeed...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

I'm in the process of painting up the Skaven half of an Island of Blood set so I can hopefully rope my partner into playing Warhammer since it's been difficult to find consistent opponents. But yesterday I took a break from those to paint up a model that's been primed and sitting on my desk for way ...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

I've been using The Troll Trader, but recently, they've started listing things for eBay prices, which is really disappointing, but not surprising. I really hope The Old World brings back some of the newer High Elf plastics like White Lions, and Lothern Skycutters.

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

Thanks SpellArcher, I appreciate it. She'll have to do unless I manage to find an original that isn't an arm and a leg. I'll never know what possessed GW to make Finecast in the first place. Probably some very misguided directive to increase profit yield. My buddy has a Finecast Queek, and he had to...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

It's proven to be a lot more difficult to find opponents in the Seattle area of Washington state, so I've gone back to painting some models/units I've got assembled and sitting around in my display case. I've also been slowly working on adding eyes and finishing up gems on units that are painted, bu...

Re: Ulthuan Rallies for War

I think I remember reading that on a PDF. I feel like there's another similar scenario where the defenders are set to a certain amount of points and the attackers just keep coming. I think the win condition for the defenders is to have at least one single surviving unit on the table by turn 6? It co...
