Re: January-February 2016 Painting Challenge
I'll be grateful if I can get another unit painted by the end of the year. But I do plan to get some painting done. I have a lot of models that really do need to be painted. It should be noted that I don't play any war games, and haven't in many years. The miniatures that I am painting are now just ...

Re: You probably never saw this coming
I thought it might be of use to post the link to the same discussion we are currently having on Druchii.net for those of you interested in our thoughts on the merger and some of the questions and comments. Asrai, Ulthuan and Druchii websites Feel free to add your views there as well. It is nice to ...

You probably never saw this coming
This was originally going to just be for the Loremasters, but I thought I'd get feedback from everyone. In an amongst the conversations I'm currently having about the future of Asrai, we're also looking into two crazy propositions for the future of Druchii and Ulthuan as well. The first of these is,...

Re: Asrai.org is going to be shut down
As an update to the situation with Asrai: There is now a positive plan to save Asrai. There are a few possibilities kicking around, but the simplest one will be that either Druchii or ourselves will share a server with it. As I said in my last comment, Ulthuan already shares a server with my other d...

CAN'T LOG IN? -> Cookie issues
If you're having issues logging in right now, clear your ulthuan cookie. Due to a slight issue I have had to reprogram the cookie, and the old one will tell you you've logged in, then log you straight back out again. Clearing it appears to solve this issue. You can click this link to clear your cook...

Re: Asrai.org is going to be shut down
All of us who've posted thus far, as well as plenty of others are putting in effort to keep the forum healthy. I believe that as long as this continues, Ricold will keep the forum running. This is liberally true. I'm also now very glad that I decided to combine the servers for Ulthuan and my other ...

Half a present
I was rather hoping to get this finished by Christmas, however it's not going to happen, so I'm posting this up now, and then you can enjoy watching me work. In other news, these stats came from me attempting to make another project work. I still have a fair bit of effort to put in, but there is a p...

Re: Other hobbies
@Ricold: After I read your first post, I was going to say that the climbing venue I go to has a decent bouldering section. But then you posted your interactive link. That's a lot of bouldering space... To compare, this is where I go to: http://www.deklimmuur.nl/deuithof3d/klimmuur_denhaaguithof.htm...

Re: Other hobbies
Because interactive pages are always interesting, I thought I'd share this one: http://www.boulderbrighton.com/virtual-tour , which is a tour of the place I've been bouldering for the last six months or so. Otherwise my hobbies haven't changed much over the last six years or so, and haven't included...

Re: Other hobbies
Rock Climbing or Bouldering Rod?
Bouldering is a really fun hobby, even if it can be a little dangerous at times (broken a few fingers and toes now)

Re: Statistics
First question is, what do you want this website to be? When you find the answer you just need to start building it towards that goal. It cannot be done alone so I guess you need a team for that too. Hopefully you will be able to assemble one. This. This is important. But I feel there is more to th...

Re: Statistics
It would also be interesting to see these numbers from the same period (pick any month) in the previous years (I don't know if you have data on that though). I don't, that data belongs/belonged to the previous hosting people. I doubt that Eldacar kept a copy (I did have access to it at the time, bu...

Re: Statistics
Being extremely negative about this, if I could start the site again, losing all 290,000 posts in the database, then I'm fairly confident that I could give you a wonderful mobile experience. But I think you'd mainly object if I cleaned the site. I can't even manage the phpbb upgrade right now withou...

Re: Statistics
Perhaps we should, with 10-ish% mobile use, ask our lead programmer for a responsive / mobile site ;) Though I personally find that at least writing on a forum is much easier on desktop. I'm part of that 10%, and personally am very happy with the experience I get from my 5.7" smart phone. Brow...

Re: Statistics
82% of our users use Windows, 7% Linux, 5.4% iOS, 3.6% OSX. Android? EDIT - Nope, that last information was wrong. Having drawn up the extended operating system information, the 7% that is linux breaks down into 5.6% andriod, and 1.3% other (and 0.1% error margin apparently) Having found the extend...

Statistics
Having been trawling through the server logs, I found some statistics that I thought were interesting. I was initially going to just share these with the Loremasters, but I thought it more interesting to post publicly. I'm also aware that what I consider interesting and what everyone else does may d...

Because I am awful at planning this with useful amounts of warning, there is a distinct possibility that I may have to take the forums offline at various points tomorrow and/or Saturday, for important security updates. The forums may show as offline, or may fail to load entirely. The site may come b...

A great loss to the community
About 10 days ago, Curu posted in the Loremaster forum that due to changes, he would be stepping down as a Herald. He has asked that the following be posted as an announcement, so here goes: Welcome to my Army Blog! Here, I will detail my army list, its progression, results, battle reports and relat...

GW answers Age of Sigmar questions
I dunno if this has been posted elsewhere, but as I seem to have numerous friends outside this forum posting up information on Age of Sigmar, I thought I'd share a brief bit of information apparently from GW actually talking to the community at a forgeworld open day http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2015...

Right, any user that was using the 45.40.135.47 address needs to stop doing this, and return to using http://www.ulthuan.net/forum! I've reset the cookies to use it, and soon I will be resetting other things to use it naturally as well.
This, I think, now qualifies as a successful handover!

For everyone's information. We* have no intention of doing anything stupid, or rash, or without a lot of thought. However.... The Loremasters and Heralds were approached just over a week ago by the Druchii.net staff to open up a discussion on this very topic. The Asrai have also been invited. The st...

Re: 9th Edition rumours
But we'll always have 3rd ed. and warmaster. Finishing painting my Warmaster miniatures and actually playing a game has been on my list of things to do for over a decade. Still I keep hearing from players that they think I'd prefer it to WFB, and I tend to agree. http://talismancy.com/ricold/BOFA-h...
