Re: Effective Sizes for a White Lion Unit

Fair point and Lions can also move through woods I suppose.

Still wouldn't do it myself though...

Commandment of Brass and Khemri Chariots

Ok, I cast Commandment on a chariot in a unit. Am I right in thinking that this effectively immobilises the unit, as it has to maintain coherancy?

Re: Effective Sizes for a White Lion Unit

I'd go with 6x3. The problem with 2 units of seven for me is that Swordmasters do it better. Lions don't have the killing power. The Stubborn might let you hold things up but autobreaking is a big problem on such small units. Also if you don't kill enough enemy, 7 T3,5+ save elves aren't going to la...

Zombies yes but a big skeleton unit or one with a character is a big problem. A bad round of combat and the spears autobreak. I wouldn't dream of taking on skeletons with the 10-strong unit and hoping to win. They can beat fast stuff like bats and wolves and still do the table quarter, sacrificial an...

But 20 spears taking psychology tests on an 8 or less and having at the very best a 7-in-12 chance of passing a break test are a bit fragile for me. I suppose they are cheap enough to risk like this though. A unit of 10 can quite happily be risked IMHO. Overall you may be right that 10pts is too muc...

All my names are stolen! :) I like the spirit of avoiding the scroll caddy but what do you do when the first scroll's gone and the enemy casts Beast Cowers? If you can find the points you could take the Banner of Sorcery and a second Mage. The Archers make sense but I worry about the spear blocks. N...

List looks pretty good.

I've had mundane missile weapons on characters work very effectively before.

I'd consider dropping the spears down to 10 and putting Gem of Courage on the Bladelord.

Sure the magic defence is light but everything in the list either shoots or moves very quickly. Except the Swordmasters.

Now in a heavy infantry list I'd be agreeing that the defence isn't enough...

I think you'd have got away with that Lvl 2 you know. Far more horrible things are at that tourney!

Win it for us! Particularly with the stick HE have been taking around it.

The issue's less clear-cut than with Swordmasters or Phoenix Guard. Some people get joy with small units, some people like HERO find them working well in large units.

I tend to agree with Prince Asuryan at 15-ish though without the character and Standard of Balance instead of Lion.

Each to his own.

Comet can be very effective but it is indeed unreliable. Also it's a high cast spell in a low cast lore, so not what you hope to roll for with a Lvl2.

I had that in 6th against a Lvl 4 Necromancer with the Cloak of Mists and Shadows in a skeleton unit. My Kroxigor couldn't touch him but it didn't matter. After two rounds of Portent of Far the unit ceased to exist! To me that's the main danger from the Talisman/Robe set-up. Worth risking if you've ...

My Wood Elves are in the boxes they were sold in, stacked in a grip bag.

These days I buy a small GW case for every army. They're expensive but they do the job well.

Well I guess our heroes are not the hardest all-round fighters but they can be tailored to be good at one thing. HE are T3 with mediocre armour so they don't do attrition that well. A balanced HE list with a good spread of units may not win a GT but it's well playable at just below that level.

It's interesting. The Battle Banner does appear the better choice but I guess you are really concerned about psychology? This unit has to make it's charges I suppose.

You'll probably be Ok with the Mage as is unless you run into a really horrible magic phase.

It does seem that Silver Helms either need to be a big bus unit or a minimised cheap unit to do things DP's can't do better.

I reckon you need some magic, a scroll caddy at least. I'd drop the White Lions to pay for it. I'd also split the archer unit into two 10's. Many players would go for more Dragon Princes.

Watch out for the Talos! :)

The Lord/chariot combo hits about as hard a Lion Chariot.

A combined charge from either plus a ranked unit is lethal.

The Heavens thing might make sense on a Dragon-mounted Archmage or Dragon Mage, helping the BS4. Then you get Terror+Breath+Bow+Spells.

Lion Standard for the spears, as the man says. That's a level four Archmage, or I've got the points wrong. The Reaver Bow Noble is obviously usually a Lvl 2 Mage in this kind of list. How do you intend to use him? Two Lion Chariots and two units of DP's gives you plenty of oomph, I like it! Personal...

I could see the Silver Helm unit doing better if it gets flank charged for example but overall the DP's must be more efficient. In fluff terms I guess there should be a lot more Silver Helms than DP's. I've got one unit of each but obviously a fluffy Caledor army would be different, not to mention a...
