Re: Some 'disturbing' fluff in new dwarfs army book
It is clear Sinsigel, that the recordings of the bearded ones is as flawed as they are themselves. Had they truly wished to come to Prince Tyrion's aid, they would not so easily dismiss his valuable and cunning strategies. But no, instead they stubbornly solve all matters in their own way with littl...

Re: saving throw odds
3+ w reroll -> 88.89%
1+ -> 83.33%
If it's an armor save, then it can be modified:
4+ w reroll: 75%
5+ w reroll: 55.55%
6+ w reroll: 30.56%
2+: 83.33%
3+: 66.67%
4+: 50%
So it seems the reroll is best.

Re: Comparing the Dark Elf and High Elf books as mirrors
Dear me. I think there's a misunderstanding. There's no hostility or disagreement with your post entirely. I simply pointed out that your (short) argument for core choices was a bit too short. why respond to my statement about core and not the one I expressed far more certainty on? Dark elf characte...

Re: Comparing the Dark Elf and High Elf books as mirrors
Oh. I meant a unit of 30 big in horde formation. They would all get to fight, with or without the martial prowess.

Re: Comparing the Dark Elf and High Elf books as mirrors
I do however, think it's better for their core (since they're going to horde witches anyway I bet), and I know for sure that it's better for their character since martial prowess does nothing for our Princes but we're apparently charged for it anyway since we cost the same as dark elf characters. I...

Re: Comparing the Dark Elf and High Elf books as mirrors
Well.. I don't know the HE book very well to make a detailed comparison, but I would like to make a note on this piece: Dreadspears/Bleakswords: Giving up the attacks and gaining Murderous Prowess is a good tradeoff. Spearmen/Seaguard: Martial prowess isn't that good when you're still just strength ...

Re: Penumbral Pendulum Question
It's not too shabby against Dwarves either, if you can get in range in time. I'm not sure how well that works for HE's but it worked out well in tandem with Pit of Shades and shooting. Your opponent may be forced to dispel one and is likely to scroll or roll for the Pit of Shades. It has a shot at r...

Re: Massed Maiden Guard
Enchanted blades specifies that all close combat attacks and shooting attacks made by the models gain the armor piercing special rule, so it affects archers and maidengaurd. Not to mention the +1 to hit. So that'll be hitting on 2's with a -3 AS vs nasties. It's an interesting idea, but you have to...

Interesting. Thank you Rod... it would have allowed some really awkward moves otherwise.

Re: Changing Banner of the World Dragon
Personally, I won't be bothered too much by the banner as a Dark Elf player, so I would have no qualms about it. But if you want to get a feeling of what the banner is like on the other end of the stick... see it like a pendant of kaeleth for a whole unit for only 15 points more. The POK seems to ha...

Re: Walking Between Worlds
A question, as I lack experience with it... If you move through models and units as ethereal unit, do you automatically land at opposite side of the unit? I can't imagine you stay on top of a unit when the ethereal nature fades. So I would imagine that, like fleeing troops, like templates and everyt...

Re: Book of Hoeth: Statistics & Tactics
Well.. not being a HE player, but based on my DE experience with (rather limited use of) the sacrificial dagger, I'd focus on the low to middle range spells that require 2 to 3 power dice: - 2-3 power dice have a relatively small chance of causing irresistible force - There's still that odd chance o...

Re: Magic item: they're doing it wrong sometimes.
Did GW take it too far? Yes, I think they did. But I think they recognise that as well. Which explains why there has been a slow increase in the number of items in each book. If you think HE have it rough, try being O&G who get 8 (IIRC) in total. Most of them useless too. I don't quite follow t...

Re: new Book of Hoeth calculator - 8ed
Agreed. I only like to get the exact numbers every now and then for analysis reasons.. and because I enjoy computing the numbers. In the game itself, I don't use such lookup tables at all and certainly no exact percentages. Either I break it down to a rule of thumb which I can remember, or I simply ...

Re: new Book of Hoeth calculator - 8ed
Furion, there can be small differences because my numbers are randomly simulated. Perhaps if I were to increase the number of simulations, then the numbers would match more precisely. Exact % values aren't that much more usefull I think. In the end, what does a percentage of 89.50 actually mean in g...

Re: Book of Hoeth: Statistics & Tactics
I built a simulator to obtain these numbers, which is available here:
http://warhammer.orderoftheathanor.eu/b ... hoeth.html
The numbers seem to match, given enough simulations... But it can take quite some before the numbers approach yours.

Hey Furion, Your evil brethren has been working on the math part as well. I built a simulator to get these numbers as well... But I can't verify them with yours. Re: High Magic updates for 8th Ed.
Would my input be accepted? I like some of the ideas and intents behind this proposal, but the way it is implemented permits quite some horrible scenes. This Lore can basically.. do.. well.. everything? You can decimate any low armor unit completely: 1) You could cast "Curse of Loec" on th...
