And here they are...
Cutting to the chase, no more work in progress pictures, just the final result.
Not the best models by any stretch, but I feel a decent job and while I don't see myself using them, somebody perhaps will buy them.

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
The answer to the question I asked myself is no, I cannot paint a unit only with an airbrush.
There still needs to be a lot of paintbrush work.
Those pesky orc archers have not been fun, but they are nearly done. Will hopefully post the final result in a few days.

The Skillcannon misfired, destroying the weapon.
A good shot at this point could have helped a good deal rebalancing the score of the game.

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
The second session brought some significant developments: _DSC7152.JPG _DSC7149.JPG But the third one today, in which I only did the blue tunics, was not worth it. I could have done faster with a paintbrush and (not well visible) I oversprayed a bit the green legs, which will need fixing with a brus...

Re: A new painting blog - Eltharion on Stormwing Complete
I have been asking myself how far can I push painting a unit using only an airbrush? So I have decided to try and see what happens. For that an expendable unit was required, and fortunately a unit of 16 arrer boyz was available, which had been waiting primed black for several years. I gave them a wh...

Hi Rod, any chance you can tell us how this went?

Also, have you seen this thread? Hopefully real life will permit Rod to add to it soon. https://ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=95282 No I hadn't paid attention to it, but it looks interesting, I am utterly ignorant of the Skaven. Hopefully Rod will write more soon, what I saw left me wa...

Re: A new painting blog - New troll unit Complete
In other news, I finally painted Eltharion, after it sat in a box for nearly five years! He goes to join Stormwing. Thanks to Seredain and his griffon BSB for inspiring me to get this done. @SA, looking back at our conversation, I realised that there was a critical piece of information missing for you, which I mistakenly thought I shared before. Which is, I already have a painted warboss on wyvern.... Warhammer_DSC7068.jpg Warhammer_DSC7066.jpg That makes the new model completely surpl...

I would not say that it makes no sense to put a dragon in an army list.
On the other hand, I feel a wyvern is wasted points: The model is great though.

Plus a monster that has been in my drawer for years... Give us a clue? A different version of a monster I already have painted and posted here, and which makes little sense to put in an army list... Now that I think this is a very poor clue, I can think of several examples that match the above. OK ...

How do you think your Griffon BSB compares to Caradryan on Ashtari?
What do you reckon would happen replacing the Griffon BSB + phoenix with Caradryan on Ashtari + a tooled up Noble on Great Eagle?

Re: Crossing Swords
No specific thoughts to offer, except I envy your opportunity to play.
Here I am limited to painting and playing both sides.
Seredain's list is a novelty for me.
No redirectors, no fast moving units (almost), which is unusual for High Elves.

They could certainly become a nice centrepiece of an army.
I am already thinking about how many trolls can I sensibly put in a list. I've got 19 now...

That's exciting!
I wish I knew people around me willing to play (preferably if of a certain age...). Difficult if like me one refuses to use Facebook.
Do keep us posted on how it goes.
Some discussion of the differences, merits and demerits compared to other editions would be very nice.

Re: A new painting blog - Phoenix Guard COMPLETE (at last!)
This weeks project has been Stormwing.
Quick and sweet, I really enjoyed painting the model and am very pleased with how it came out.
I also have Eltharion to paint but don't fancy doing more elf figures full of tiny details right now, so my next project will also be monstrous.

That's because the guys with the halberds down can only fit on the right hand side, and placing the middle pose on the left is awkward.SpellArcher wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 7:15 pm I also like how you’ve got the halberds angled down in concert.

I am now on to a more relaxing, hopefully shorter, project.
Painting large numbers of small figures with loads of details is tiring...
