Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Save a few points by not giving them full plate (unless they have it because you gave them blood of caledor?) Yeah, I realized as I posted the list. Like I said, the whole thing can be optimized. You could also drop the griffon to give the characters some more protection, and put the BSB on a horse...

Re: Speculating/Wish listing on the High Elf Arcane Journal
Tyrion and Teclis could just about be fit in there. The Battle of Finuval Plain, where T&T played a big role, is something like 220 years before the End Times, about 120 years into Finubar's reign. It's just after TOW, but with a bit of finnagling they could just about squeeze them in there. I d...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
One thing I have been wondering about in the discussion about 2500pts, is that it also allows some nasty stuff to be brought along. You could go with a double star dragon list that includes 4 monsters and a bunch of hard hitting cavalry units. Something like ++ Characters [1247 pts] ++ Prince [491 p...

Re: Let’s talk about Line Of Sight
It's a few things. The multiple wounds has been reduced slightly for the great cannon (D6 -> D3+1), and the S has been reduced for the regular cannon, which matters against T7 stuff. The armour piercing has been reduced to -2 or -3 compared to the -7(!) in the previous edition. And mounted character...

another option you can check out is if you're backing-up your photos online somewhere. like google drive, one drive, or apple icloud. I know that one drive at least has an option which lets you generate a URL to embed images on other pages (like on our forum). I would expect the others to have some ...

Re: Regeneration stacking?
I have been wondering the same thing. After all, special rules are explicitely said to stack unless otherwise stated. Ward saves for instance specifically state that they don't stack, while Armour Bane is used as an example of how things stack. I'm going for no in this instance. 2 reasons: - it woul...

Which base adapters did you find? I for sure don't want to rebase all my elf models (there's well over 200 of the buggers), so movement trays that do the job for me are more than welcome.

Welcome! Thanks for dropping in. I love the old High Elf models. They have some elegance which is missing from some of the newer models. I have a bunch of older metal archers, and they're the same in their elegance. And nice paint job! The cloak is lovely and the face is well done. I like the detail...

I'm not a big fan of the models themselves. They're not as good as the newer OK models. But your paint job did them justice. They look suitably menacing, and as if they are actually butchers. So well done!

Re: How much of a problem is Impetuous on a Prince on Dragon?
Heck, prince on griffon is slightly cheaper than noble+blood of caledor+sun dragon The prince and noble are very similar in all other respects though. They have the same WS and W. Prince has +1I (which matters little with Strike First) and +1 LD. Noble has impetuous (which is a downside). But he al...

1) I agree with Morgen. The desciption says "may attempt to use it by passing a LD test". Thus if you fail the test, then you're not using it. It seems the most fair interpretation, though I can see someone arguing the reverse as well. Best check with your opponent before the game. 2) They...

Re: Bolt Thrower's High Elves
That's a very fast, blitzkrieg type list. Definitely looks fun. It might struggle against bigger infantry blocks, since you're unlikely to outnumber any of them 2-to-1. So I can imagine it will actually struggle to score a lot of points against those if they manage to hold the first charge. I'm not ...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
Who can take the armor of silvered steel? People who can buy or are equipped with armor. What are you talking about? It's explicitly called a suit of armor. A Handmaiden is equipped with armor, so they can buy magical armor. They don't have any option to buy shields so they can't use magical shield...

The BSB on frostheart looks like a lot of fun. I'm definitely borrowing the idea for a future list. As for falling back vs give ground, i think a fair few games need to be played to get an good feel for it. I hadn't realised the difference when charged to the rear, and I wouldn't be surprised GW nev...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
The BBB says Magic armour follows the same rules as the mundane equivalent (if given). E.g. a Magic suit of heavy armour offers a save of 5+. So the question would be is the save a magic armour is given is tied to its "class" of armour so for instance the meteoric iron armour is a 5+ ther...

the problem is you've got two rules in opposition to one another. I my interpretation there is no opposition between the rules. It has never been a point of discussion that if a character can take some kind of mundane armour, then it can take any kind of magical armour. That's the generally accepte...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
Those are the only two qualifiers beyond paying points and the high elf mage fails both of them. They're able to wear armor, but they're not able to be equipped with any. No options and no equipment means no magical equivalents. Two questions: Can you give a magical shield or the armour of Caledor ...

You will actually hit plenty of R&F models on a 2+, as Asuryan intended... That's a change to the To Hit table this edition. If your WS is more than double your opponent's, you hit on 2+.

Sounds like a fun battle. I haven't seen many nobles on frostheart phoenixes around (or many phoenixes at all for that matter). How did he perform? It sounds like you managed to out-deploy and out-maneuvre him in T1, which let you dictate the game. Movement is still key after all. The failed rerolla...

Only a model equipped with (or that has the option to be equipped with) armor, shields or barding may purchase a magical equivalent. BBB page 340. High elf mages have no option to be equipped with armor and Warden of Saphery does not give them any ability to equip or purchase armor. Ithilmar armour...

take a unit of 20 night gobbos with fc and a warbanner. It is 102pts and guaranteed beats the charge of any prince on star dragon. given they double outnumber him there is a 17% chance he breaks (not fbigo) from combat on YOUR turn, and a guarantee he is not where you want. How does the night gobbo...

+1 on the LSG only being able to remove 5 models from the front rank with Naval Discipline. I'm not sold on MSU this edition. I think the SM are better in 1 unit than in 2 small units. Why not the Ogre Blade combo? Its effectiveness vs monsters is roughly comparable to Dragon Slaying Sword but it gives you so much more versatility against everything else. I think they should fit on 25mm bases. Their default base is 32mm round. You can fit a 22mm square base inside a 32mm round one edge to edge, which means that at 25mm, they will fit comfortable. How well they'll rank up, I'm not sure. It will depend on what bits are sticking out. My gut feeling is t...
