Re: Crossing Swords

Turn Six 20230421_194846.jpg Unable to apply the coup de grâce, the High Elves hunted down points. The Griffon made a long charge into the Daemonettes and ate their champion for lunch. The Archmage finally set the Plaguebearers on fire and more fell to missiles. 20230421_195313.jpg The Daemons stay...

Those pesky Flamers, eh? :) Turn Five (continued) 20230421_191507.jpg The Horrors, next up for the Phoenix Guard Chopping Block, thought better of it and burbled out of the tower. I didn't vanguard the Reavers, seeing no need to do so. My opponent didn't activate the stormbanner this turn. Touché! Dragon and frostheart move to the center in front of the hill. Did you consider a more aggressive move with the Dragon Rod? I cast a Big fireball with 6-dice on the Abomb. My oppon...

Re: Crossing Swords

Thanks guys. I think the play so far is showing the importance of a main combat unit (given we're not running proper MSU). The Beasts are good but not strong enough to just push forward blindly. The PG almost are but are taking time to arrive and other combat elements largely need to wait for them. ...

The truly evil thing here for me is WS 4. You think that's a bad thing. Then you realise that yes it's more misses than WS 5 but with the re-rolls it's also more chances to roll 6's for Poison.

I decided to go for fun and whacky rather than the strongest list out there, which is why you'll find the Dragon Mage in there. Boo! Bring out the filth! Seriously, I get that your characters might not stand up at the highest level Rod. They're very interesting though and I think entirely strong en...

Ouch! :( It sounds like you were making some progress against the support units, despite the outrageous saves of the Warlocks. Also that the Witch Elf combat came too soon, before you had a chance to threaten it's flanks or get a cast of Convocation off. I get that the sheer insanity of that deathst...

Re: High Elves in challenges

I may have missed it but is the fact that a Vamp Lord often carries the Other Trickster's Shard factored in here? Also, is he on foot or mounted (and hence likely rocking a 1+ AS). In general I feel Star Dragon works best. World Dragon also, unless your opponent tailors and leaves his magic sword at...

Re: Crossing Swords

The double lvl2 metal mages are unusual. I'm not sure they're worth it. Somehow the lore always feels a bit "Meh" to me. Too many spells in there that are situational. Then again, in this list, magic isn't really a focus, so it matters less. And it does help deal with armored opponents so...

Project Griffon It's now a Thing! People are stuck with core and can take redirectors from there if they need. I'm coming round to this way of thinking. Move up the spears with impunity, tilt them at an angle which gives you a flank charge in the event that the enemy takes the bait. This kind of po...
