Re: Novice 2K List
I think my favorite part of your list is that you didn't put a thousand points of characters in it. :) Be careful with how you use your Frostheart too. It's not particularly durable for roaming around on it's own, especially for the points. It can really turn the tide in some combats in combination ...

Re: Game balance or lack off?
I don't think it really needs anything as of yet, before most people have models on tables and are actually playing the game. Seems very knee-jerk reaction to things at this stage. I don't think I've seen anyone actually do more than theory craft the silly dwarven air force which was mostly resolved...

Yeah, it's thier literal first charge of the game. Not the first chargefor your army though I believe, just the unit's.

Yeah, The Old World is very 6th edition/Warhammer Ancients/Middle Earth with some other stuff mixed in.

Re: The old world. . . .
The crew should be based separately if you want to follow the official rules. They're kind of floating wound counters but they're there but they get out the way. Usual abstract crew rules.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
Well you'd be pretty hard presses to model the skycutter with the bolt thrower, the crew and the character so there are some physical limitations at least.

Re: The old world. . . .
So of course there's a lot of options for just not rebasing and the like, but the official GW facebook posted these for the base sizes and they look to match. High elf standard infantry 25mm Dragons 60×100 All High Elf Cavalry 30x60mm All High Elf ground Chariots 50 x 100mm Skycutter Chariot 60 x 10...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
Yeah, but it's still nice to have the option again at least. I'm still annoyed at not being able to run just a unit of high elf swordsmen in 8th.

Silver helm question...
So I've always had trouble woth the silver helm models. The horses with thier gaps and breakable tails I think I've mostly got sorted. How far forward should I mount the legs of the rider though? Anyone have a good suggestion from experience? A nice rule of thumb? The horn kind of aligned with the f...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
The Pheonix Guard lost 2 points on the ward save but gained a point of armor. Full plate on them to me is appealing. I know I'm going to try and field at least one unit. They could be good as troops that can force breaks with unit strength/fear.

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I'm torn on core. I like the idea of doing a knight heavy list with silver helms for at least one list, but I like both spearmen/archers and that navel discipline on the sea guard.. The ability to deploy wide for a large shooting phase or two to move into a stand and shoot and then form up ranks see...

Re: A Look at High Elf Rules in The Old World
I just finished watching and I think I'll be very happy playing HE in this game. We can build a variety of different army styles and units so it's enticing to me. Lots of mount options and theme list possibilities. I love that archers can be a detachment of spearmen. Wanted that for ages. I'm so usi...

Flexability and not a whole always strikes army that my friends complain about and it looks like we got it.
Some kind of new great eagle kit (with mount options) would be nice though!

Re: Warhammer ToW
Well of course I'm not always expecting to roll our infantry's not amazing 5+ armor saves at all, but at least people don't get to double dip automatically with high strength armor piercing weapons. Think with charges only being a like +3 initiative bonus if the elves are swift they shouldn't need a...

Re: Warhammer ToW
From watching the battle report they had on Warhammer+ it looked like there was a small change that makes a big difference in that the strength of the attack doesn't automatically reduce armor saves so...that's a good thing for the lightly armored elves. That makes me very ready to play High Elves a...

The Old World Preorders are Jan 6th 2023
Just FYI for folks with interest. January 6th for preorders, January 20th for release. If the game has intetest it likely will go out of stock quickly from how Horas Herrasy went.

I'm very likely going to give this a try but I want to see everything before I decide if I'm going to reuse my elves. I want a little more flexibility and a little less glass cannoness.

Re: Old World Almanack – Your First Look at the Rules
I'd just like the game rules to function and for everyone to have their own fun stuff than to worry too much about balance. It's a games workshop game after all, focusing too much over balancing things usually makes the games less interesting. Too a point obviously.

Re: Old World Almanack – Your First Look at the Rules
I'd actually like to see that army wide always strikes first rule dropped hard and it looks like it might be. It was some protection for the high elves when there wasn't any kind of step up and fight rule but once that came into play the elves should have gotten rid of it as an army rule. I'd rather...
