Re: What do you never leave for battle without...?
A mage with High Magic. Shield of Saphery has saved me many times and Drain Magic is always a pain in the backside for opponents!

Re: Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers
Well done, Tiralya! Very nicely painted.
I was thinking about using Seaguard as crew as well.
I'm not too sure that High Elves call each other fools, though. I'm not even sure that they understand the concept of insults!
Many thanks for posting your pictures!

Re: Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers
Thanks for the pictures krysith!
Lovely painting on those bolt throwers - perhaps you could share with us all how you painted the green. It almost looks like marble!
Elfhenge looks great too, but how did a Dwarf slip past all of those Eagle Claws? It must have burrowed through the ground...

They look great. The sea scenery is fantastic also.
Please please please could I 'borrow' the idea of sea horse knights?

Re: Blade Princes of Saphery
Your idea Asurion is a brilliant one though. If I want to maintain the full them, I will definitely attempt that first, before possibly settling on the lesser idea. And yeah, truthfully it would be easier to hang a shield from the saddle, but they would also probably use rounded shields to mitigate...

Sorry for not putting an option for 0. I'll change it immediately!
As for putting it in painting and modelling, I was hoping people would post pictures.
Oh well!
By the way, I was the one to vote five!

Re: VS new TombKings
- They are heavily reliant on magic. It grows back their army. When they lose their mage they suffer wounds every turn. So try to kill the mage immediately and their army will bleed to death. - Teclis can really control their magic phase and wreak havoc on their army. He can do that to most armies,...

Re: VS new TombKings
I haven't played many games yet as I'm relatively new to High Elves, but the last game I played was against Tomb Kings. My opponent had one big unit of chariots and one of skeletal horsemen. The chariots smashed through everything from Swordmasters to Sea Guard! The thing to watch out for though is ...

I love RBTs. I thought then that I may post a new topic where people can post about their RBTs. I am currently working on my first i9n a long line. You can post pictures of your RBT, tactics, or anything to do with RBTs. I will post a picture of my own as soon as it is finished. Please also take par...

Re: Skirmishers
I'm no rules expert, but from looking at the rulebook, it would seem that, for the purposes of shooting, they act as other units. They are allowed to fire on the march, but can only fire at an enemy in their forward arc. There are no rules stating otherwise, so only the front two ranks can fire. If ...

Re: what will happen in the new army book
i really dont think we will get a BS5 core unit of SG, that seems to be a bit much. nor can i see us getting a new light cav unit when we already have one. it would be easier to just move the ER's to core The only problem with Ellyrian Reavers in core is that they are a unit specific to a kingdom, ...

Re: what will happen in the new army book
Perhaps they could make a new light cavalry unit. They'd only have light armour and spears. That would go in core and the fluff would be that some of the citizen soldiers join cavalry units. Or they could have no armour. Or a light armour upgrade. Or javelins (I've always wanted a unit with javelin...

Re: what will happen in the new army book
archers and LSG get BS 5. LSG maybe fire in an extra rank. Wood Elves have BS 4 and they're much better archers than the High Elves. Besides, it would mean hitting on 2s - only a 1 in 6 chance of missing (without shootong penalties). It's not going to happen. About the LSG firing in an extr...

Re: My first go at 2k
That's quite a good list. One thing that I'd like to point out though is that seven sword masters aren't going to last long. Swordmasters are a great unit, but you have to have enough to soak up the inevitable casualties. If you even take away three White lions from the large unit, you'll still have...

Re: what will happen in the new army book
1.Silver Helms as a core choice.
2.Monster with a howdah - new army books seem to be getting them (Orcs and Gobbos, Tomb Kings).
3.Spell for instant transportation.
4.Pos. always use unmodified leadership (too often I've had to roll snake-eyes!).

Re: Which unit next?
What about Phoenix Guard? Are they any good? Also, which chariot would you recommend. A Lion Chariot would add a good hard attacking unit for my army. Perhaps too expensive? Why choose Dragon Princes over Silver Helms?

Re: Which unit next?
Thank you, Telepirno! Perhaps a battalion would be the best choice. It would allow me to field atleast one thousand points. A small unit of Silverhelms, Dragon Princes or Reavers could ride ahead of the army, with the chariot from the battalion. I shall most definately get the extra four Swrodmaster...

Which unit next?
Good morrow, denizens of Ulthuan, I have a small High Elf army and I am currently wondering how to expand it. Core: I have ten Lothern Sea Guard. I would be more than grateful for any suggestions as to how I could expand my core. Special: I have ten Sword Masters. Should I expandthis unit or get som...

Re: Hoeth-themed, Swordmaster-heavy army?
I understand that you would naturally take a lot of Swordmasters, but I would advise against taking too many. This could be point consuming and could result in a very small, elite army. Perhaps a one or two large units of spearmen to form a solid core, and two or three units of Swordmasters. I would...

Re: Sea Guard Conversion and color scheme questions.
I have tried to wash Asurmen Blue over chainmail to achieve a tinted blue finish but alas, it did not work. I believe that I used to much Asurmen blue. Perhaps I should have thinned it. I have ended up recovering the washed armour with chainmail. This actually gives a lovely polished look.

It matters not if your painting is slow as the quality of your painting is superb. The battle standard bearer looks great - a slight but effective bit of kit bashing!

Wow!
I love the prince. I think the green and purple look great together.
I might be slightly biased as I am thinking of starting an army with green armour.
Keep up the good work!

Re: Deciding on a colour theme
If you're looking for unusual colour schemes, yellow and purple could be quite nice. Turquoise and pink might look a bit bleh but you could give it a try. Something that I find helps is a colour wheel. You can find rather a good one at this address - http://realcolorwheel.com/tubecolors.htm Try to u...
