Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I'm trying to recall now if Light Magic has ever had a spell that acts as a resurrection. High Magic has (Apotheosis), although I think the theme of that was bringing back their ghost temporarily. Combining the two might succeed in bringing him back more permanently, though... Incidentally, that's a...

Re: Future of (High) Elves army
The elves only smashed the beastmen that were attacking Athel Loren, which is the one forest in the Old World they'd never really gained a foothold in. Glottkin probably depleted their numbers in the Empire, but I expect that they're still quite strong in the forests of the Empire and northern Breto...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I wouldn't necessarily think that being missing from the HOTEK means Teclis is gone. It probably means that HOTEK represents how the Elven army stands at the end of Khaine, and they want Teclis' fate to remain a mystery for now. Were Teclis to make a triumphant return, it'd be easy enough to put his...

Re: End Times: Thanquol!
No Moulder-linked? It does strike me, though, that the four Horned Rat demons there seem to roughly correspond to the Chaos Powers. Skryre is Tzeentch, Pestilens Nurgle, and the Warlord Clans, Khorne. Linking Eshin to Slaanesh is a bit of a stretch, but doable. Having separate Horned Rat demons for ...

Re: Future of (High) Elves army
@Truthiness: I'd agree that it's unlikely that a lot of models will be just retired right away, but I expect we'll end up with a lot of units becoming essentially different looks and equipment options for the same unit entry. Kind of like the different knightly orders for the Empire, or the differen...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
One thing I noted as a subtlety in the Khaine book is that Lileath notes that Asuryan's power is split and he can't incarnate. I suspect that Asuryan hasn't actually chosen anybody, but instilled himself into anyone brave enough to enter the flames unwarded. Once Malekith entered the flames and jump...

Re: Future of (High) Elves army
The origin of ithilmar has been stated, and it was indeed unique to Ulthuan, specifically Caledor. It might remain in the new list on the basis of being equipment that has been maintained since the sinking, however. On the Phoenix Guard... It probably could be justified, should GW choose, that some ...

@Curu: Indeed, since both the HOTPK and the HOTEK are Forces of Order even if they're from the Dark Elf list, just as High Elves in the Aestyrion are Forces of Destruction.

Re: Future of (High) Elves army
True enough, I was simplifying a bit, as defending the Oak during winter was a primary part of their process. Either way, I expect them to become an elite part of Alarielle's side of things.

Re: All this has happened before: Khaine Analysis [BIG SPOIL
Given that Malekith got Shadow in defiance of Asuryan's nature, it seems that Teclis could make mismatched combinations - and he's described as fearing what Malekith having Shadow might mean. It's possible that he might be hoping that instilling Hysh - the wind most associated with wisdom and sereni...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I don't have the book on hand, but I think her touch affects all Forces of Destruction, possibly all creatures in general (on the basis that units that are so pure they have no evil at all are so incredibly rare that they'd be able to be given a specific immunity). However, she has the ability to tu...

Re: Future of (High) Elves army
All elf spearmen getting Eternal Guard rules seems...excessive.
Since the Oak of Ages is no longer containing the Asrai royals, the Eternal Guard will probably need a repurposing. I suspect the EG could end up as a complement of the two types of Sisters in Alarielle's retinue.

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Realistically speaking, they'd pretty much have to conquer something to avoid losing their various naval-oriented units (except the Skycutters, of course). Athel Loren is landlocked, after all. Depending on how much amalgamation GW is planning to do, I could even see the Bretonnians absorbed wholesa...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
On Malekith's cultural influence... The impression in ET:K is that Malekith actually doesn't give two hoots for culture as long as he's in charge. He makes a few political blunders with the High Elves, but that largely comes from habit formed by six thousand years of what worked for the Druchii. If ...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Basically, Araloth is probably intended to be the Asuryan of the new world, and his daughter is probably the Isha. That said, another subtle note in there was that Teclis was doing his thing at the Vortex so that Lileath didn't have to, and could then do something else - this means it's possible tha...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Having now read through ETK: I think there's actually a subtle point that many have missed that might shed light on Asuryan's "choice": Early on, there's mention of how Asuryan's power is weakened such that he could not incarnate into a semi-mortal form as the other elven gods have due to ...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
Actually, that's a turn of phrase that's often misinterpreted... Go back to the context, and it doesn't actually say anything about legitimacy, democratic values, or anything like that, but a much more fundamental principle:that if a population as a whole is bloody-minded enough to decide that they'...

Only if you don't count Chaos Dwarfs. But yeah, I'd have to say it doesn't look good for them. The WE book looked like it was setting up for the Brets to be increased in prominence in their next book, but it turned out to be a setup for End Times instead, and while not completely wiped off th...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
To be fair regarding Malekith's failure to conquer Ulthuan: The impression I've always had is that the Dark Elves have had less elfpower than the Asur. They were derived ultimately from a single kingdom out of ten - that was one of the strongest kingdoms and had recruits from other kingdoms, but we'...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I don't have the book at the moment, truth be told I don't know where it is, but the very first HE army book I read had tons of background on all the Phoenix Kings. I remember thinking they all had destinies that were unfortunate, in one way or another. While few of them went mad per se, they all s...

Re: ET:Khaine - army lists speculation
The current Beastmen book IS 7th edition - it was either right before or right after Skaven, IIRC. Certainly late enough in 7th's development that it was made with some of the rule changes planned for 8th in mind.

Re: Campaign of the end of times Rumors & Leaks
The note about wielding the Star Lance is interesting - it suggests that there's something about the Star Lance itself that will be important in the future. Is it simply that at some point there'll be something that needs to be charged with a really powerful lance, or is there some mystical importan...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
I disagree with the faultiness of said premiss though. It has even explicitly been stated in previous HE books that all phoenix kings, bar one if memory serves, have had poor destinies. GW has gone to some lengths to imply that the line of Phoenix Kings is, somehow, tainted. Now I can't say if they...

Re: All this has happened before: Khaine Analysis [BIG SPOIL
That's actually a valid point. Malekith isn't the best general or the best wizard or the best diplomat among the elves - but he probably is the single character among the elves that has the broadest experience (when not an obsessed genocidal lunatic under the influence of dark magic). This puts him ...

Re: End Times: Khaine fluff discussion (may contain spoilers
@vespacion1: It's possible - Asuryan is apparently now out of the picture, and if Malekith thinks to appoint a successor Imrik seems the most likely candidate, while Imrik probably also has a good chance of being elected as well. However, it's also possible that that just means the elves need the dr...

Re: All this has happened before: Khaine Analysis [BIG SPOIL
That's pretty much my thought as well. It would have been fine if Malekith was simply the right leader for the time. Or even if the High-Dark conflict was something necessary to make Malekith into that leader. But the 'all phoenix kings since were placeholders' idea is a retcon that just wasn't nece...

Re: All this has happened before: Khaine Analysis [BIG SPOIL
The question of how many elven lifestyles can fit in Athel Loren depends in part on whether they actually remain there. Much of southern Bretonnia was depopulated in Nagash and their remaining army was devastated in Glottkin, not to mention that Estalia and Tilea have been taken over by Skaven - the...
