Re: 2400 dragon mage list - need help
I'll rethink the AM/DM gear I think, as I'm not sure its optimal atm. But otherwise I'm quite liking this list. I've played another two games with it and won a massacre against the same dwarf gunline i lost to before (my army is too fast for gun lines to win against it seems) and then lost a amassac...

Re: Help with painting white.
I have painted a *LOT* of white across my armies, namely eldar, dark angels (robes and terminators) and of course the ever awesome elves. I actually enjoy painting white, although it takes a few more layers than most colours. What i like about white is that you can shade it compliment any colour sch...

Re: 2400 dragon mage list - need help
yeh I'm warming to the idea of mass archers over spears. I don't have the models atm, but perhaps worth an investment at somepoint. I may run the archers in a single 20 man unit and try and make use of flaming sword etc. That said, I do find small unit of archers usefull as flank gaurds, but with so...

Re: 2400 dragon mage list - need help
Howde. Thanks for reply Csjarrat - I agree loosing the RBT is the way forward. Since posting the list i have had two games with it, but I ended up playing a slightly different list as i didn't have my eagles with me and also wanted to get lvl2 on the DM: AM - Life, lvl4, foloriaths robes, staff of s...

2400 dragon mage list - need help
Hi guys! Returning to WHFB after a year off and returning to elves since pre-8th ed. I have worked up a 2500pnt list but when i went to my local store yesterday it seems everyone plays 2400pnts as standard. So I need to trim 100pnts. Also, I just generally need help with it! Here's what i have: AM -...

Re: Dragon Mage Builds
Do people think lvl 2 is necessary on the DM? I'm planning to use a DM in support of a life AM. With the wand, the DM has two spells and with the AM wanting most of the PD I don't see that the extra spell is worth it? what do peeps think? Personally I'm inclined to think that at 2400pnts an AM, BSB ...

Re: Question on Magic
my store plays 2d6 per player. its generally agreed that the book is not clear what is inteneded, although as it doesn't it doesn't specify in allies that you both get 2d6 I'm inclined to think this was not RAI. I prefer to have 2d6 each as it makes magic more interesting. IMHO magic does not scale ...

I'd drop the 8 SH's for 6 DP's. It's a couple less wounds, but otherwise superiour in all respects.

999pnt list - painting mission
Howde, My mates are starting a serious painting drive and we have agreed between us not to play with or against any army that is not fully painted (!). We'll see how long that lasts......but in the mean time I am trimming my 2.5k dragon mage list to 1k points to quickly get an army on the table. It'...

Re: 2500 Dragon Mage list
Yes, moment of madness, RoF is HE and is Fury of Khain and not fireball so obviously wont get the extra dice. But then again, FoK is a great spell for a roll of 3. Following that train of thought though, if I were to take the bound fireball from common items, woudl the DM get the extra dice? Thanks ...

Re: 2500 Dragon Mage list
Thanks for the comments, all sound advice. My thinking with the ring of fury was that most of the dice will be used by the AM and I can pretty much gaurentee the RoF with two dice and have a 50/50 with one dice (last spell). The lvl 1 DM will already know two spells with the wand, with the extra dic...

Re: Chaoshammer...
But there are already scale problems with magic anyways - warhammer standard rules just aren't designed for large point number games. Agreed. I just do not understand why GW wrote in rules specifically for multi-player / big games and didn't change the magic allocation? I really really don't see th...

Re: 2500 Dragon Mage list
Thanks for comments. Yes it is a bit of a gutsy list i guess but that's how I play :D Putting the banner of sorcery in the SM's probably makes sense. The spears and SM's are likely to both be in combat early on so he will get attacked eitherway, and the SM's standard bearer should be harder to pick ...

Re: Having Your Opponent Roll Game Changing Tests
Well with the new 8th ed missions the games will probably be decided more often than not by a final live-or-die dice roll. Under VP points, if it's evenly matched, then the final deathrows don't make many odds, as it will still be a draw or a minor win one way or the other. Under scenario based vict...

yep, he's by no means invincible, but being in a unit would negate much of the risk from CR. If I was playing a freindly against demons then I wouldn't run this build, but in a tourny I might take my chances.

Re: Bestigors
Interesting. As a BM player, I would say they are an average army at best and I would normally expect them to be beaten by HE. Don't attemp to beat them in combat, as that's all beastmen do - and as you point out, they are not to be under estimated in this role. The main plus points for BM is they a...

Re: 2000pt list with archmage in the front lines!
I'm gonna try this AM build today. decided to check the list forum to see if anyone else had tried it :o @ Ozymandias - the mage has the talisman of saphery which nullifies all magic weapons and as he's ethereal from teh robe he is effectively invulnerable once in combat. but I agree it seems odd to...

Wizard magic items - restricted to 1 from each catagory?
I don't remember reading anything in the new BRB about not taking multiple items from same catagory. I don't have BRB to had and am writing a list for a game tonight - can any one confirm if Wizards can take more than one item from arcane section? e.g. seer staff of saphery and taff of solidity? che...

I'm a bit dissapointed they didn't change the Dragon Mage flaming sword of rhuin option to something better. Ti used to be a charecter buff, now its a minor unit buff that's near useless on the mage. I know that DM's arn't supposed to be combat masters, but still would have been nice to have a +3S +...

Re: Warhammer storyline
I don't have the beastmen army book to hand, but I'm pretty sure the fluff in the new book says that Gorthor the beastlord is dead (killed by some Empire n00b IIRC) but he's still a special charecter with his own model to boot - and the most expensive lord option beastmen have. I don't see why they ...
