Re: Hellpit Abomination and random movement
Even with random movement you can still only charge by contacting the enemy unit with the front of your unit. So the HPA can't charge the eagle because he can't get it in his front arc with the one pivot he is allowed to make. You pivot around the centre of your base, which means the front of the H...

Re: Hellpit Abomination and random movement
Yes, units with Random Movement can charge things that are out of their forward arc (even directly behind them!). It's one benefit of having that special rule. Furthermore, you can't declare a charge reaction other than Hold. edit: I'll leave what I already wrote, but I just reread your question an...

Hellpit Abomination and random movement
In a game against a Skaven player today, I parked a Great Eagle next to his Hellpit believing that he would be unable to rotate (due to moving within 1" of an enemy unit) and would be forced to go forward only. Is this correct or incorrect?

Re: What to do about bad judge calls
I had a similar situation happen at a tournament about an hour away. My opponent had a huge block of ungors in the front of my phoenix guard, with another unit pretty much on the ungor's flank in such away that were the 2nd unit to charge my PG they would run into his guys and couldn't get more than...

A General of the Empire + Standard of Discipline + BSB in a small bunker behind the blocks always seemed good to me. Also with Shadow Magic and myriad Warrior Priests and the like you can swap around a bunch of characters easily.

Re: Citadel Fincast and rant
I don't plan on punishing my FLGS for GW's perceived follies. I'm just going to continue to play my Warhammer games and buy into other minis games that have better rules support and "official" events (Warmachine/Malifaux)! EDIT: With regards to Finecast... this is a tabletop game and most ...

Some pics of my Malifaux stuff so far. I'm playing the Gremlins from the Outcasts faction. They're hilarious! Loving the game, too. It's very flavorful and all the minis have a lot of character. Painting them has been very different from painting Elves! Som'er Teeth Jones http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn....

Re: You guys are all doves
THIS IS MY OPINION Warhammer and 40k as games are not very good. They are fun, but they are not well balanced, good games. From what I understand Warmachine is a fun, balanced game. I come from a competitive MTG background, so I'm not a total carebear. 40k and Fantasy break down in the competitive s...

Re: You guys are all doves
Need to be more hawk imo. Take Teclis more. If he's banned, take a Lv.4 with Book. It's not a crutch, it's playing with your book and taking advantage of your faction strengths. Honestly, all this talk of Book ban is making me hate this game even more so than I already do. It's like telling a O&...

Try a couple washes of Devlan Mud on one of the red leaves and see how you like it. Fallen leaves tend to be either reddish-brown, yellowish-brown or slightly more red/yellow than brown, especially if you want to hint more at winter you'll want to go more brown.

I mean, you can take them and then just not put them in harms way (i.e. corners of the board to stay away from cannons).

I'm the dude who was playing Eltharion :) I brought up the middle of the pack at 30th place :P I was really hoping to at least 3-2, but my last round ended in a draw! Great games and a fantastic event. I'm going to definitely be going to more GT's if they're half as fun as the Colonial was. I was pl...

A smallish block of Chosen is one thing (like, 12 maybe?) but like 20 is just dumb. Honestly, just ignoring chosen is the best way to deal with them. Or Curse of the Horned Rat. It's what I do against things like Minotaurs. Toss fodder units in the way while killing other stuff. It takes practice, b...

Re: Tournament Report - Battle 4/5
The Incantation of moving around does allow a charge much in the same way that Danse from the VC does. It may override the BRB saying Vanguarding units can't charge as it's not "really" a charge. 8 year old army books FTL.

Do some grey, some black, some white. HE cav are supposed to be nobility in some form or another, so it would make sense that they would bring their own steeds to battle.

Hey everyone, My name is Aeddon and I'm new to the forums. I've played 40k for about four years now and I'm thinking about starting a High Elves army for WFB. I know next to nothing about how WFB plays or how HE play so I'll probably be asking lots of questions. Cheers. Aeddon In short, WFB > 40k :...

Re: HE vs. Bretonnia - 2400
I play against Bretonnia a bit and what I try to do is feed small units to the knight busses until I'm ready to deal with them. Depending on how his setup is, you can bumrush the peasant line and possibly panic them off the board, leaving you just the knights to deal with. I usually have 2-3 eagles ...

Life is comparable to Shadow. Whereas Shadow is full of debuffs, life's full of buffs. It's really a matter of what you prefer more. I prefer Shadow, personally, but I certainly wouldn't knock you for using Life.

Lore of Light is pretty good in a Swordmaster army. Cast the beefed up version of Pha's Protection and suddenly people are hitting your Swordmasters on 5's with WS2 hitting on 6's! Birona's Timewarp is added fun as well.

Re: Return of Seredain the Cavalry Prince - 2.5K
I play against Daemons all the time and they are tough, especially if built tough, but they're obviously beatable. The Bloodthirster might have an infinite hatred-style gift (re-roll to hit each round), probably won't take S10 because it's a bit much for way too many points. An armor gift is likely ...
