Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Update)
Anyway, great to get a proper sized game, and next time I'll have something painted to show, promise! Oops… I have done a good bit more work on my Phoenix Guard but they're in that chasm between "nearly done" and "done" which can be a long one, and I'm determined to wait until t...

Re: A New Blog
That is a proper retro army, looks fantastic! Only missing vintage goblin green around the bases
I love the desaturated green and the character you can get with those dark black lined shades!

Love these! You’ve got a great painting style with all that contrast, and the old school checkerboard on the boss is super. That hot pink is inspired too!

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Update)
A brief battle report from my 2000 points against a fun balanced Dwarf list. In the end I changed out the list above, dropped 10 Phoenix Guard and some Swordmasters to squeeze in a basic Archmage with a bound spell and the +1 power dice Jewel of Dusk. Made the list really magic heavy and troop light...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Update)
Yeah the challenge is probably numbers. Back in the day we had enough people it felt like a big thing without being so big as to be chaotic! And fantasy character models, at least for elves, are now collectors items on eBay  I’ve got a list to have a work on for a game this weekend. It is suf...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Update)
Just went back through my old posts - I couldn't recall why your name rang more of a bell than many others. Then I noticed I was your Secret santa back in 2014 :) No way! I've still got that Necromancer, definitely my best painted miniatures are my two Secret Santa models! Those secret santas were ...

Re: Nyeave's plog - HE mage finished
Looks great: impressively smooth and clean painting, even the white in my opinion! Your blends aren’t too flashy, just really well executed and used exactly where needed. That head swap makes him look very menacing. Have to say that grass looks pretty healthy for being next to a big plume of magic f...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Update)
Thanks all! It was certainly a one sided battle: really he had nothing that could stop my dragon princes except great rolling on his bolt throwers. Once he gets a BSB for rerolls all will be well. I’m sure the dark elves will return with a vengeance, I’ve already seen a painted bolt thrower so he’s ...

Re: Warhammer: The Old World
Personally I’m more excited for models than anything else. The WHFB death has broken the link between GW rule releases and player preference, and with any luck that will continue. If the rules are good, people will play them, if not they’ll stick to 6th, 7th, 8th, T9A, KoW, or whatever else they’ve ...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – the 7 Year Upda
Welcome back Sturen. :) Sounds like you're starting to get back in the swing. Interesting model, the way you've done the inside of the cloak gives a striking contrast. Thanks! I felt a little intimidated by all the open cloth areas so I thought bold colours, a simple freehand, and the fiery sword (...

Re: Sturens Painting Log (updated July ‘21 – 7 years later!)
I’m back! Drifted away with AoS and being a student, but now having been graduated and working for a couple of years, and especially locked down, I turned back to Warhammer! Turns out I’d sold almost everything except the elves, so a lot of the models above are gone. But there are enough elves to pa...

Re: Secret Santa 2014
They haven't been about or confirmed either way but my tracking info doesn't say it's arrived and it needed a signature. The freehand was ambitious for me but I'm pleased with how it turned out! The blood is loads of fun, it's a mix of varying proportions of black, blood red, PVA glue and water that...

Re: Secret Santa 2014
I'm getting a little concerned about the progress of my model and also whether it's recipient is ever going to return or is MIA. I mailed it on the 12th December and the tracking still says it hasn't left the country. However I know it's not tracked much once it's out of the UK so it could be that i...

Re: Secret Santa 2014

Thank you very much Nyeave! I love it! It is an awesome model, the GW single pose plastics are almost all great imo.
Your photography also blows mine out of the water
Some time this week I'll try and snap a photo of him leading my small zombie horde!

A magnificent Wight King from Santa! The pictures don't do justice to just how clean the painting is, and the amazing blending along the sword. http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y384/Stewp111/Mobile%20Uploads/3C8A8956-FCF4-4CB7-BBC2-E3F837F962DF_zpsc45z5cho.jpg http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: Scottish Independence... maybe
There's a lot of very interesting discussion and I must say Seredain you make some good points. I would contend that the vast majority of Scots would call themselves Scottish before British, rightly or wrongly that will always be a factor. Britishness, for Scotland, particularly younger Scots, doesn...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe
Yes and No representatives who were there said those were simply uncounted votes waiting on the No table. It's possible the vote was rigged I suppose but I don't really want to get too conspiracy theory about everything. You're completely right. Yes would have won a majority if voters over 65 were e...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe
Pretty strong No vote. However still a strong Yes vote, stronger than was expected when the referendum was agreed to I'm sure. Disappointing personally for me but I think there's a lot to be hopeful about. David Cameron (as much as it pains me to admit it) made a pretty good speech, suggesting movem...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe
An IMS poll actually showed that no voters were most likely to be motivated by feelings towards UK. Yes voters are moved by dissatisfaction by UK government. Further devolution is something that has been promised in some ways, but with no consensus and no actual guarantee. Were it on the ballot it w...

Re: Scottish Independance... maybe
I think I would agree with this sentiment. When I think of EU "enlargement" I think countries like Turkey, their entry has been discussed since I was in the UK last in 2003, Serbia, and Moldova (?). In reality accepting Scotland into the EU really wouldn't be enlarging it's just another n...
