Ahem, sir. I believe the only advice I have to give, is this:

No notes.

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears

I was kind of thinking that, even tho the PG don't outperform the SM by much on offense they would be a better holding unit for counter charges/2nd round of combat augmentation spells, stuff like that. 6+ ward and 6+ armour save compared to no saves at all for the Swordmasters against Bretonnians. Re: Basic units army

Yeah you can also just adjust the army composition rules:

Up to 25% of your points may be on characters, 75% MUST be core, and if you want any Rare or Special Units they come from that 25% Character budget.

Re: Basic units army

Here is the thing: If people aren't building tournament lists there is a LOT you can do with the High Elf roster. The High Elves are uniquely poised to do well in a limited hero game because their models are fairly elite, all around. So when you have an Empire General going up against your unit cham...

Re: Basic units army

Well I mean, you have like 30 more core models than most other armies so to me that is fairly basic if you are playing people you don't know and are just trying to bring a list that can have a fun game against any style of army. If I was going to go up against people I knew, and knew their playstyle...

Re: Basic units army

If you know your opponent will be fielding a similarly themed army I think this is quite good. Very thematic with dashing cavalry and ranks of spears and archers. Obviously I love the theme. If your opponent is just "who ever I run into at the store" you might want to consider adding in so...

Re: Arimies of Infamy special rules wishlist

The transfer sheet should help with the shields. It's not known if the bow in quiver bits will be on the sprues or not. Both good points, they may have made new sprues entirely. If they kept the exact same sprue, however, then there will be quivers (really bows in holsters, but I digress) on the sa...

...they are part of the launch boxset, which does not make me happy. I had a feeling that the boxset would be regular archers and spearman. I was hoping for a Sea guard themed boxset, but no. Those models are Sea Guard, just not Isle of Blood Sea Guard. You simply attach the quiver that comes on th...

Re: Who Said 7th Edition was dead??

I would never run unprotected SM units with so few models and no protection on Nobles, so there is 0 shot of ditching the archers. They are not darts at all, but screens/additional drops to refuse a flank. The Nobles being a unit of 6 SM by themselves is the point, plus the ASF aspect. 6 SM are not ...

Re: Who Said 7th Edition was dead??

I get that and did similar back then. But they also had ASF and two attacks each back then to blend anything they touched. This has certainly lessened, even though they are still potent, of course. I am hoping to make up for it by having a hero with 3 attacks in each unit, bringing them quite close...

I used to play 7 man units all the time in 7th and it worked really well, but I just realized that with an noble that is going to be 8. Let me rework it to see what that looks like.

Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears

I guess I was more worried about it being easy to get Grail Knights/Heros/Lords into combat with the Swordmasters. I feel like if I was going to do Swordmasters I would need to go MSU.

hero msu [2000 pts] Back in 7th Edition I used to run an army when I wanted to utterly dominate people in 7th Ed. Re: A Proper Elven Host; Or, A Staunch Line of Spears

My thoughts behind the Phoenix Guard is wanting to bring big blocks of combat resolution that are hard to remove. I understand that Swordmasters are good offensively... but are they? Against Brettonians getting the charge? They feel like they would be much better against infantry. I am not really an...

Re: Advice for beginner

An issue with going "full try-hard" while trying to learn is that the second you bring what is perceived as a "hard" or "tournament" list people are going to want you to follow the rules of the big/mainstream tournies. That would mean you are overspending on your Prince...

Yeah that is actually a great call - I normally don't run the Battle Banner without the War Banner since the War Banner is better, point-for-point. I meant to include the War Banner on a unit stand bearer, but didn't end up liking it on any of the units I have. As for the core: I can only drop 1 Sis...

Ceridian hit the nail on the head. You have to be able to complete the charge according to the normal rules after moving the fleeing unit. At this point we simply revert to the rules for charging a unit thatis Holding against the charge.since you cannot move through enemies during a charge without c...

This looks awesome and I like the pose you have given your dragon. Don't worry about washing or highlighting rank and file models if you don't want, but maybe try it on a model you reallly like, such as a character. I tend to stick to base coat colors with simple washes and highlights on normal troo...
