Re: Angel's High Elves - updated with Battle Standard Bearer
Thank you for your kind replies, and sorry about the lack of activity for my part. My interest in warhammer reached low point in November and I haven't even been thinking about it since then. Now the interest seems to be slowly returning again so perhaps I'll post some new painted models relatively ...

They don't save from magical effects, but they do work against wounds caused by magic. Unless otherwise is stated.

Re: "Character goes Here" in army lists
I tend to stick my characters in the same units in every game. But I'm flexible and will of course move them if the situation demands it. The list itself is designed to have the characters in rather specific units. My Archmage starts in a unit of 14 Sea Guard. Since she uses Lore of Shadows her spel...

Re: How do you run your Swordmasters?
I used to run a 18 strong swordmaster unit in the first 2 years after our 7th ed book. The psychological impact that unit had was considerable, and fun - for me.CrazyCarl wrote: I love huge units of them because it freaks people out

I use the 14 with FC that I've painted as a LSG bunker for my archmage, and it works great. I will expand them to 19 when I get around to paint some more of them.

Re: How do you run your foot Prince/Noble on foot?
Or you could give him the amulet of light for the magical attacks and keep the high strength and saves.
I'm thinking about running something like this in my 2500 army:
Prince: Sword of Might, Enchanted Shield, Radiant Gem of Hoeth (Death), Talisman of Endurance, Dragon Armour.

Re: How do you run your Swordmasters?
I've run a unit of 14 with full command, talisman of loec and banner of sorcery in every game of 8th so far. They are doing great but I think that either 18 or 21 might be better numbers since they don't loose attacks as soon as they loose wounds.

Re: HIgh Elves: playing defensively or offensively?
I tend to play offensively, but sometimes I hang back for a couple of turns to do some shooting and magic damage before I engage. But that is only against armies with little or no shooting. Otherwise I try to engage one of the enemy's flanks while I keep the other occupied with distractors. I play 2...

What do you think is a good build for a mage-prince on foot if neither the armour of caledor or the guardian phoenix (those are on the BSB) are available?

Re: Angel's High Elves - updated with more Spearmen!
The chariot got boring to paint, and it isn't that high on the priority list yet (which is to have my current 2000 points list painted). Instead I started work on the BSB, and I'm doing some experiments with the gold on him and I'm pretty pleased with the results so far. He is still very WIP so don'...

The plastic noble kit has a really big sword and a really big axe, both which are very suitable as great weapons.

Re: Dragon Mages in 8th?
The problem with the dragon mage is that it is a mage, on a dragon. Something you want to avoid unless you are a dark elf or a chaos sorcerer since they are the only armies that can give them adequate protection.

I've been toying with an idea of making something like this for my dragon princes when I buy the new kit. I don't like the huge flag that they come with, so I'm going to do something different. http://iranpoliticsclub.net/flags/images/f005.1%20Parthian%20Azhidahak%20version2%20238BC-224AD.jpg Someth...

I have finally finished the six spearmen, so now it is 12 down and 12 to go. However, I'm tired of painting spears at the moment so I will take a break and paint another chariot and a BSB before I go back and finish the unit. http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/ae16/Angelos90/1.jpg?t=1286981605 http:...

Re: D. Princes vs Swordsmasters - Also general starter list help
I started out using 2, dropped one and now I'm considering dropping the one I have. The main reasons are their fragility, as described by Bolt Thrower, and their weakened impact on many units. With the new rules I have seen people taking much larger units. Units of 15 became 20, units of 20 became 3...

You always use the best ward save if you have more than one.
The FAQ makes the tactic of casting Earthblood on the DPs for an unremoveable regeneration save no longer available.

The DP nerf was unnecessary imo, the other ones are meaningless to me.
Some good ones in the RBRB FAQ though clearing up Throne of Vines and Pd generation among other things.
