Re: SilverHelm white colorscheme

No problem with the monochrome look overall, but i would consider painting some small portions of the metal in gold, you could then give them a white/gold highlight to make it fit even better. i think that would really add to the model and give it that extra bit of depth.

Re: WiP Painting Log. [Archmage and Archers Added!]

I like your shading on the robes, but I think that the flesh on the faces could use a bit of a wash for some depth. currently the mage looks a bit flat faced.

Re: Icemans Painting Log (Update - Skaven WIP)

Finally after many months away from the world of warhammer fantasy a visit from a friend has provided me with the lovely skaven warlord model from the Island of Blood box set (he ended up with four of them so didnt mind giving one away). Since its such a fantastic looking mini I've decided to paint ...

The footmage does look really good, though for some reason I think his arms look really short and stumpy, not sure if thats just the photo angles.

Re: Tir's Log

most pro modellers/painters, will remove the mould lines that your asking about. it is indeed labour intensive but the end result is much nicer. If you leave the mold lines, then when painted they usually stand out even more and look very unsightly and ruin the look of the model. The opposite is whe...

If you went for brown, I'd make sure it is a different shade from the leather that youve painted, otherwise people make think your elves have started skinning their horses!

Re: which colour?? updated 30.10.10

I like the bases, easy to do and with a good result so thanks for showing how you do it. for the reavers of all the ones ive seen the most common is grey, and generally that looks quite good, you can always go for slightly different shades for each horse, and then if you arent happy with the results...

It depends on what kind of look you want the models to have, are they regal, battle worn, clean, dirty etc. without knowing that its hard to give any input that has a valuable reasoning behind it.

I've heard about a lot of people using something called 'simple green', that apparently works very well on both metal and plastic models.

Re: Drakeco's newbie log! Swordmasters and Seguard done

they look good, do need a wash though, looks a bit flat right now, faces look like they need a bit of shading as well, only just noticed in your photos how cartoonish the faces look, maybe its because you cant see much of them, but not the best work GW have ever done.

Re: Ulthuan Shall Never Fall

Id agree about the spear shafts, they do contrast but a bit too much, once you notice they stick out quite a bit, in real life that may not be the case, but in the photo they do. I really like the coral colour scheme you've gone for, looks really clean and crisp, and really does fit with the sea the...

Re: New player, first model

for the wood, if you want a grain affect you want a few different shades of brown (or lighter) then carefully paint in some nice thin lines. just fins a pic of some wood online and thatll give you the gist. Once youve got the wood grain pattern all sorted water down the intermediate shade you used a...

Re: Weathering clothes

I'd agree with Lathaon drybrush some browns and a bit of dark green on and that would work, for a really weathered look though I think some hack and slash would be needed on the cloak.

Re: Elves in the snow. Colour scheme ideas.

it all depends on how detailed you want it to be, you could obviously go for the camourflaged colour scheme and tie it in with based themed very strongly to be in a wintery environment. my perfect image of a wintery army is the opening scene of gladiator, loads of furs and thick layers. Problem is t...

Re: Elves in the snow. Colour scheme ideas.

if it was a truly wintery army, you'd have to consider what an army in those conditions would need to wear, obviously they may be camouflaged (whites, greys, soft blues) but they would probably also have some furs to keep them warm. the animals would be in their wintery furs so then youd have some g...

Re: Jedra's High Elves, Red colour scheme

you could try adding an already lightened red to the purple, so mix some white into the red then mix that into the purple, warlock purple also works quite well as it doesnt go as pastely once lightened, if you google purple gems though youll see that, that generally the purples go from very dark to ...
