Re: Return of the Squats

It definitely sounds like a more flavorfull codex than "just another type of space marines". I think dwarfs in space work. With their focus on technology and craft they make a lot more sense than orks in space or elves in space. As for their "design", it's part of the nature vs n...

They're looking lovely. I really like the cream color on the skirmishers. And that banner for your wardens of Mathlann is indeed sweet!

Re: Anointed Build on Flamespyre

It's an interesting idea for sure. I think it very much depends on the environment you play in and the rest of your list. The downsides are that this will likely be your general. And while you have high leadership overall, it still helps to have your general nearby. It's also a lot of points investe...

Re: 2500 points vs VC (Warhammer Armies Project (Edited)

I think warriors are too expensive for what you get. HE just don't do generic infantry all that well. It's too expensive to field in large numbers to bog opponents down, and it's not strong enough to seriously threaten anything worth threatening. But that might just be me of course. I've also not go...

Re: 2000 point Cothique list vs Vampire counts (WAP)

I'm mainly wondering if 1 RBT is enough. I'm not sure how you could improve it or how you'd fit a second one in the list. Perhaps drop some command models / magic items. But even for HE, I find 1 bolt thrower always a bit hit or miss. It doesn't do enough damage to make it a viable threat on its own...

They're shaping up great indeed. Lot's of character and individuality in them. And I like seeing how they come together. Gives me some ideas of what I can do painting-wise.

And I agree with SA that you surely can fit more than 19 of them in a list ;)

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.

I think it's the nature of the game that listbuilding matters a lot. It's the same for any other tabletop wargame, but also things like Magic the Gathering. There is always stuff that works better either because it's better (for the points) or because it gives more synergy. You only really get to kn...

It’s surprisingly OK Rod, maybe due to the pot design. I don’t have that much though. A little progress: I've heard that said before about the old pots. Seems like the newer ones were a step down in that regard (and also the fact that the lids don't stay open). I had a look around for comparable pa...

Great to see you back again. And great to get some games in. The painted models look pretty great. You've really pulled off the traditional blue-white scheme, and you've got some crips and clean models. And the cream bases work really well. Got the archers and proper bolt thrower crewmen painted up,...

Re: Lore/Fluff behind the High Elf shield's Star?

I think I agree with Aerendar's assesment. (High) Elves are generally associated with purety, and the night's sky. Which makes Stars a clear option for heraldry. Also it's a "look at my lovely gem" kind of thing. And gems is one of those things HE have plenty of. I did a quick search throu...

Re: Fielding a prince in Warhammer Armies project

I'm not sure spearmen are important enough to make the cost of the banner make sense. You want to use the banner to protect a clear target from magic. Those are units which are hard to deal with by other means. Spearmen on the other hand die too fast to regular attacks, and they don't kill other stu...

MR in WAP gives a dispel bonus as well So here, +5 vs spells targeted at the unit? Indeed: A model with Magic Resistance gains a bonus to dispel enemy spells directly targeting it (not including templates that are placed on top of it) So you get +5 to dispel rolls targeted at the unit. Which is pre...

These small games can be quick and loads of fun. They're a great way to get into the game. They just need to be taken not very seriously. As you noticed, they can be very unbalanced. Some things become a lot more powerful, while others lose their power. Skaven rank bonus is a good example of how it'...

I can see that working, yes. Though HE don't do a very good death star in my opinion. 3+ ward Phoenix Guard are one of the options, though I feel they would still die to other death stars with higher damage output. I would also be tempted by some other magic lore. Mindrazored PG are probably the sin...
