Re: Impetous-when can you declare a charge?
There's a difference between the wording of Marching Column and both spells. Marching Column says you cannot make a charge move , while both spells specify that you cannot charge . These are two different things. The Marching Column wording is the exact reason why you can have a Drilled unit in Marc...

Re: Wood Elf Leaks
I agree with the sentiment, though I'd change it slightly to "There's a thin line between getting stomped into the ground and being frustrating to fight", and GW seems very afraid of the latter. Because getting half your front rank beaten up before you even swing on the charge? Feels kind...

Re: Raise the Banners! Are they worth it?
This definitely confirms that the whole thing is simply unplayable. The fact that you actually get the same number of total attacks with CC + S&S as having no banner at all just shows how ridiculous the thing is. I'm willing to forgive the army book writers a lot. But this thing is just so bad ...

Re: Wood Elf Leaks
Sounds about on par with our own AJ. One bland army that doesn't really add anything and is hard to play, and one slightly less bland army that can be decent if you min-max and average if you want to create a normal army. It feels a bit like GW designers aren't sure what to do with elves and how to ...

Re: Beastmen Leaks
Interesting. Curious about what the cause of the delay is. With the long lead times they have, it could be anything from getting enough models done on time to the printer messing things up. I doubt they're making any last minute rules changes. That's way to late into the process.

Re: Raise the Banners! Are they worth it?
Thanks for the write up and the analysis. It's clear and consise, and it also gives a good direction. Lothern (even at 50 points) was truly terrible value. In short, you gained fewer supporting attacks than you lost from having fewer troops or weaker blows. The only thing good about it is that the s...

Re: The Host of Tor Elithis - Campaigning in the Border Princes
Congrats on the win. It sounds like an epic and fun battle. It sounds like you managed to make the most out of a favorable situation, with the impetuous boar rider charge. And well done in keeping the Black Orks out of combat. Sometimes just avoiding the big stuff and picking off the smaller bits is...

I hope to see what the Lion guard can do. The noble general is there because I got a top-notch painte 6th ed Swordmaster champion and promised to field him in my next game. That is an excelent reason to bring him. With that in mind, I think statistically 2 times opal amulet is better than 1 opal am...

Re: A walk in the Woods - Ramesesis goes chracian
It's still forward progress, and they count as painted models. And everyone knows the dice-gods favor painted models. So there's that. You can always come back to them and give them a touch-up or improve them a bit. Besides, from a few feet away they look fine on the tabletop. I'd love to see some p...

Re: Reavers: what are they good for?
They're faster, more expensive, more mobile archer darts. With Fast Cavalry, if they're in marching column, they can move 27'' and then make a 90 degree turn for free. Meaning they can go pretty much anywhere on the board in a single turn, 2 at most. They can thus perform all things an archer dart c...

Re: Beastmen Leaks
Just from a let's have fun and play the game point of view I don't really like the sound of "this one thing can make some armies basically lose the game in a single turn." It's probably a slight exaggeration and one of those where you need to get a lot of things to go your way, but still. ...

Re: Facing dwarfs - any sdvice?
At 500pts I wouldn't care about much and just bring something that looks fun. The game isn't really balanced at that points level, and single events will likely determine the outcome. For example, things like the Ruby Ring of Ruin don't scale down with the points level, meaning that a single cast wi...

Re: Facing dwarfs with a friendly list at 1500p
I think the list is fine. Nothing overpowered or especially strong or broken, but that isn't the point. One thing I'm wondering about is the Noble general. I'm not sure he brings a lot to the table. I mean, he's also another White Lion Chariot, or something like 8WL. And I think those might offer yo...

I've got a shoebox full of a bunch of these and and was considering converting them. The abundance of skulls etc has put me off (or rather I'm going to try and use the shadow-warrior bits left over from my new sisters first), but you can't argue with the premade axe! Certainly spare axe bits are ha...

I like the idea, and I agree that you can't really go wrong with a big axe... I would say go for it. And you can easily swap between the Chracian Warhost and the Grand Army for different games.

A 6+ ward on a 5W model isn't all that amazing in my opinion. It's too easy to fail all of them. The only reason I currently see anyone considering the Annointed honor is to ride a phoenix. It's doesn't give you anything worth having on foot (where a 6+ ward on a 2W or 3W character is useless). Whic...

I like how the wolves are looking. Maybe not award-winning, but definitely a step above simple table-top standard. And I love the wacky look of the goblin chariot in general. Also, at least it's not on a LD9 model, but more likely LD7 or 8 at most. Which, though it succeeds more than fails, can still go wrong. Do we know if that's the case? I saw the leak for the other banner said test on the model's own leadership, but warband means that a wargor could easily have lead...

Re: GW Release Schedule
Yeah, this is just a list of stuff they want to release, not an actual release schedule. You can already see that from the fact that there is no way that GW will go 23 weeks (which is close to half a year) without a 40k release. That's just not a thing. Also, the MESBG stuff feels more like 2 releas...

Re: Beastmen Leaks
Good points. With how hard it is in TOW to get casting bonusses, even getting a +2 to cast / dispell for a lvl4 mage is already a great bonus to get. If it's maximised at just +1, then it's still nice. We'll see. In the end, the rule may be included in a SGG type list and we'll never see it again be...

Re: 2000pts monster madness
I agree. In general I think model models are almost always worth it over a character on foot, or in some cases a horse. Even more so, since in TOW, breaking something on the charge is harder and you probably want more attacks to manage that than anything. Ithilmar Weapons is again one of those rules...

Re: 2000pts monster madness
Yeah that aligns roughly with what I've seen them do (with a notable exception in the case of the Merwyrm, to me it always felt like a walking identitiy crisis of a unit). Both phoenixes just feel like they were priced when they still had a 5+ ward or something and when that got axed the cost staye...

Army Rule for AJ Beastmen Whenever you attempt to cast or dispel a spell, you receive a +1 to your roll for every wizard in your command range, plus bonuses from herdstone if you take it. However, any double is a miscast/outclassed in the art This has major potential. Chaotic, but powerful. Depends...

Glad you got a game in with the list, but sorry it didn't do as well as you'd hoped. Your thoughts on the monsters are pretty close to mine. Actually, the list performed about as well as I expected. The monsters were perhaps a bit worse, but not even that much really. I fully expected a dramatic ga...
