Re: High Elves and Zenithal airbrushing

I've dabbled around with this a bit. And it does work. Also, I think it would be about as much work as priming grey, with better results. My process is to prime in a clear primer using my airbrush. This alone has probably saved me enough money in spray paint primer to pay for the airbrush. Reason I ...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge

I'm still here ;) I'll get back to my battle report shortly. Sorry for leaving you guys hanging... The stone trolls a page back look great. They kind of match SA's army as well, with the clear greens and deep shadows. Painting the Wyvern is a must of course. It's such a great model. It deserves pain...

Re: Loren is rising - getting my asrais back into shape.

Love the autumn theme for the Wood Elves. It just works so well on them. That's the downside that comes with spending time painting. You get better, and when you look back at previous work you realize how much better you could do now. This is why my nr 1 rule regarding painting is that I don't touch...

Re: The Old World Dev Diary

An interesting question is how deliberate these photo's really are. It could of course be some big master plan, where each and every step is considered and approved by 5 different departments and 12 different people. On the other hand, it could also just be that there are 3 people working on this, a...

Boo! Bring out the filth! Seriously, I get that your characters might not stand up at the highest level Rod. They're very interesting though and I think entirely strong enough for regular play. You've only got four spells but the two from Fire in particular are very dangerous here. I agree. I...

Re: 2400pts HE vs Skaven

Deployment Nothing too spectacular happened in deployment. We both had a hill central in our deployment zone. 2 forests, on stood on the left of the board (from my point of view), the other in the center. A building stood on the right side of the board. A few other bits and pieces scattered around,...

2400pts HE vs Skaven

As hinted at here , I've recently had a 2400 pts game vs skaven. I didn't have a lot of time to prepare, and I hadn't played in ages, so I brought a list I'd made a long time ago, and one I've already used in the past. I decided to go for fun and whacky rather than the strongest list out there, whic...

Re: Crossing Swords

I think you're in a good spot. Or at least, as good as spot as you could be. The loss of the Skillcannon hurts. But with killing the SH's you've removed a great shock-troop. And with tying up the PG, you've effectively taken the two monsters out of the game for a turn as well. They're great, but run...

Re: Warhammer Fest -- The Old World Updates

definitely exciting stuff. It's nice to see HE in the first wave. We'll see what we end up with. The Skycutter + WL + SM photo looks "old" though. Like I've seen it before. It's all the existing mini's and terrain at least. One interesting tid-bit is that they're all discontinued models. I...

Re: High Elves in challenges

I may have missed it but is the fact that a Vamp Lord often carries the Other Trickster's Shard factored in here? Also, is he on foot or mounted (and hence likely rocking a 1+ AS). I probably didn't. And I've probably made some other maths mistake in there as well. It happens... Though, it will onl...

Re: Wood elves - were to turn?

being the Qulathis the Exile for the Cursed City box that GW made 2 years ago, I don't like most models GW put out for AoS, but that is a great model. If The Old World models look anything like that, I'm a happy man. Don't hold out for new elves soon though. If the rumors are to be believed, we're ...

Re: Crossing Swords

It's an interesting list for sure. It's a typical MSU type list, without any clear targets. The double lvl2 metal mages are unusual. I'm not sure they're worth it. Somehow the lore always feels a bit "Meh" to me. Too many spells in there that are situational. Then again, in this list, magi...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

People are stuck with core and can take redirectors from there if they need. I'm coming round to this way of thinking. I think reavers are worth it because they are core. However, I would still bring eagles if Reavers weren't core. The ability to take a unit out of the game for 1 or 2 turns is very...

Re: High Elves in challenges

A good thing to keep in mind is that ASF VS ASF = everyone goes at the same time without rerolls, regardless of Initiative values. Which means that all High Elf characters (without Great Weapons) go at the same time as the blender lord and neither gets any rerolls from ASF. If you want to go the spe...

Finished up some cavalry and some additional spearmen for my slowly growing army. The grey is almost entirely slain for my High Elves. As much as I love my army, I do hope that the old High Elf core plastic kits get some love in The Old World. I'd love to see the spearmen look as good as the Island...

I missed out on the best painted army award, that rightfully went to a beautiful skaven army. Your army is stunning so those Skaven must have been incredible. I agree with this sentiment. That must have been quite the sight. I guess Skaven do have the advantage of having lots of wacky miniatures th...

It works. I like him. He's clearly a Swordmaster and still also clearly different. He'll make a fine Loremaster. I like the loremaster character. I think he's amazing at lower points games, where he gives you a flexibility that's pretty much unmatched. And he makes a great back-up caster at higher p...

But are there any wood elf forums left? Don't know I'm afraid. I believe Daeron (webmaster for Druchii.net and also this forum) has the archive for Asrai.org. That's not a lot of use right now though I guess. Pretty much this, as far as I know. Asrai.org pretty much died when Warhammer did (even mo...

I love him. His face is great indeed. And the axe and gems are wonderful.

Maybe the only (very, very small) point of critisism is that the hair and lion's mane blend a bit together. There isn't a lot of contrast between them.

The battle looks stunning. I really should get myself a better table and battlemat... Also an interesting battle. I would favor the elves at this point, mainly because the PG unit is still largely intact, and they're tough buggers to deal with. And you're not in a situation where you can easily grab...

I wont even play watchtower against Vampire counts. Once they get in there, you cant get them out Yeah, I think the rules for buildings are a mess. They work as long as there is nothing critical in the building (like an objective), since then the building only grants limited advantages. But for a s...

4 attacks, 3 hits, 3 wounds, 3 failed armour saves followed by 3 failed 4+ ward saves! That's painful. I'd expect maybe 1 wound off that, not 3. It's hard to plan for something like that. That he crushed my Lions in my own turn was what doomed me. I realized it as soon as he reformed that he would ...

Sounds like a tough battle. HE really rely on their supperior stats, and having them taken away hurts. Though perhaps with ASF getting ASL hurts less than if you don't have ASF, since at least we'd still have good initiative.
