Re: Seen in tournament - Theorycraft
This is the rules: The General is the character in your army with the highest Leadership. If more than one character shares the highest Leadership value, you may choose which one is the General when writing your muster list. You must tell your opponent which model is your General before deploying y...

Re: 3x750 points Campaign Build
Interesting set-up. I generally like the rules, except for the no lvl3-4 mage. I can see why at 750pts. But above that I wonder why you can bring a dragon lord but no lvl4 mage. Anyway. The first list isn't very good. You're shooting yourself in the foot with the RBT and the SW's so to speak. Sister...

Re: Assailments and Warden of Saphery
- Flaming attacks aren't affected: rule mentions "any spells cast by the model are unaffected" - Prayers of Ulric: this seems to indeed work. The model gains this rule, so all his attacks have it. - Choppas aren't affected: the rule explicitly states "note that this rule only applies ...

Re: Assailments and Warden of Saphery
It seems like you're correct, though it feels like it shouldn't work... What I mean is that from the wording of assailments, it counts as an attack by the caster. It's made at the Initiative of the caster, ignoring any special rules from any weapons a character carries (which sort of makes sense, si...

Re: Lore of Saphery - worst in the game?
I think Vauls is a great spell, and with a longer range it would be utterly broken. As far as I know, it's the only way to get rid of magic items in the game. And considering that many magic items make or break characters and units, and you can get immense value out of it. Especially because the cas...

Re: HE Tournament Results
Some interesting lists in there. Archer darts seem to be the staple redirector in most of them. The other common unit seems to be sisters. I'm curious about the Skycutter with bolt thrower. They're an interesting idea and give the list a sizeable ranged component even though it's a stardragon + grif...

Re: Viable screen for Dragons?
The others are correct. It doesn't work. The "hit by a cannonball" for monstrous creatures doesn't mean that the creature stands between the cannon and the target. Is specifically talks about how a cannonball hits stuff, as mentioned in BBB p. 226: A cannon hits stuff in a straight line st...

Re: Rate This Build: Flying Swordmaster
Warden of Saphery means you can't be mounted - doesn't this knock out Eagles and Griffons? The Flying Carpet gets around this. It does indeed. Which is why you don't get a Sword of Hoeth and Killing Blow if you mount him. So you would swap the carpet for an Eagle and drop the Warden Honour. This is...

Re: 2k Competitive List
The problem with the Archmage in the unit of Reavers is that they become an arrow magnet. You have a unit of 5 T3 models with a 6+ armour save and Skirmish for -1 to hit, together with the character. Even worse still is Skirmishing units that are comprised entirely of models with Unit Strength 2 do...

Re: Althran's Host
Looks great and like a fun battle! And your griffon supporting your main line could have worked (HE work best when you combine units, which is why mobility is such a big deal for us). On the other hand, if left untouched those handgunners could have wreaked havoc on your T3 elves with paper armour.....

This would be a good starting point to build this Prince: https://www.warhammer.com/de-DE/shop/Lumineth-Realm-lords-Hurakan-Windmage-2021 That would be an amazing start for this model. I really dislike the head on him, and the weapons he's carying look silly and don't match the HE style at all. But...

Re: Rate This Build: Flying Swordmaster
I like it. It's fun and quirky and looks viable without being broken. I have been wondering if an Eagle for just 20 points more would be worth it. It gives you 3 extra attacks, +1T and +1W, which is nice. But it's hard to get the killing blow back. A Sword of Hoeth + killing blow is just a very good...

Re: A couple of takes on a High Elf "Goodstuff" list
Thank you for sharing! Sounds like you had a fun tournament. And congrats on the result. I did end up killing both the dragons with Sisters but it was pretty nasty, with some very manual moving and laser-accuracy to see dragons hiding behind terrain. Being able to see a millimeter of a base and bein...

Re: 2k Competitive List
Yeah the idea with split units is that during deployment you can fiddle around and leave your options open. With 2 archer darts, a unit of reavers, sisters, and 2 units of helms, you can get through a lot of deployment before having to commit to a location for the DP's. And at that point, most will...

Re: 2k Competitive List
I think I like the first list better. With the DP's in a single unit, you have a bit of extra hitting power, even against slightly larger units. With them split up, you're very dependent on the monster characters. Alternatively, you could merge them in the second list and drop 1 to upgrade the noble...

Re: Bolt thrower, good or bad?
Is there any notable psychological effect just from having a war machine? I noticed both my opponents so far have worried about deployment and movement. Do they just not know how inconsistent it is? Did your opponents play other editions of Warhammer Fantasy? They may be remembering how good war ma...

Re: The Host of Kor Evril Double Dragon Caledor
They both look glorious. The split tasks make sense on both of them. While a Star Dragon and a Sun Dragon doesn't count as maxed, I do think it's a very strong combination many casual lists will struggle with. 2 Dragons is a lot to deal with. And I'm not surprised the dragon managed to withstand a l...

Re: advice needed: 1500 not overly comeptitive league
If the intention is to have fun games and not be overly competitive, then you probably don't want to bring (Star) Dragons. At 1500pts, that probably means bringing a lvl4 archmage, or maybe a prince on either griffon or White Lion Chariot. Decide which one you want, and build your list from there. T...

Re: Some Lists & Thoughts
Are reavers really strong enough to threaten a lot of stuff in someone's backline? S4 on the charge and Open Order aren't that impressive. And as for redirectors, I agree that SW are probably not that good. Or at least, not core, which makes other options better. I just really want them to be ;) I d...

Re: Bolt thrower, good or bad?
So how does the Through & Through rule works against skirmishers. Does is just one hit one model as they don't have any ranks when not in combat? It's an interesting question, and one I had never wondered about. There are two ways to see this. The first is indeed that a unit of Skirmishers does...

Re: HE Tournament Results
The thing with dragons in tournaments is probably consistency VS all-commers lists. Given the points cost and nature of a Dragon, a Star Dragon list is all about the Star Dragon. The dragon probably represents 25% of your army and likely carries your general. Combined with 25% core, there is not tha...

I wonder if they’ll go as far as End Times or if they’ll retcon it/“parallel universe” theory it and in this world, Chaos does not end the world. Given the target audience for TOW, which is players who don't like Age of Sigmar and just want to play regular ranked up Warhammer, I very much doubt the...

I have also been wondering about the new heros and subfactions. I was thinking that Alariel the Everqueen could have a good shot together with Eltharion the Grim. Re: Some Lists & Thoughts
In general, across the lists I'm finding myself moving more and more into a Cavalry Heavy-Core, sometimes with darts of 5 Archers. Like previous editions, these seem to be the setups that actually can do something. Playing around with a Cav-Star style as well, which I think is possible right now in...

Re: Fast - Faster - High Elves 3000 Pts competative list
Interesting. I haven't seen many 3k pts lists, and I don't know if a fixed meta exists for it. It's a pity that the handmaiden can't be general, though I agree that with only 10 sisters, it's not worth the downside anyway. Especially at 3k points, you would want 20-30 sisters in core to make taking ...
