Re: Balance Update - NEW Update, June 10
Though it does remove a point of combat resolution from most single models (since few of them have 10 wounds or US 10). Which makes big ridden monsters more vulnerable to challenges, as it caps your CR at 6 pretty much. Unless you're on a chariot, since impact hits are now counted outside the chall...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
With that RBT assembled, I've got all models I had originally planned to assemble put together. Except now of course I received the MTO stuff, which is metal. And since my superglue bottle is starting to look worse each time I open it, I'll assemble them first. But with them received and everything ...

Re: Balance Update - NEW Update, June 10
That's an interesting, and dare I say it, sensible looking list. It doesn't change all that much in the grand scheme of things I think. Mainly move some details. Though it does remove a point of combat resolution from most single models (since few of them have 10 wounds or US 10). Which makes big ri...

Re: Made to order has arrived
Haha! My models arrived yesterday, time really flies :P Yeah, it's amazing how as I get older times seems to speed up. It used to be that half a year really felt like half a year... Interestingly enough, the Made to Order models seem to have disappeared from the GW website again. At least on the Du...

Re: 2000 point friendly list against Nurgle daemons
I'm not sure the spearmen and the single boltthrower add all that much. The impact of a single boltthrower tends to be limited with either multiple wounds (2) or D3+3 shots. Most things with multiple wounds aren't all that scared about losing 2, and the odds of actually getting those wounds are pret...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
Put together one of the conversion projects I had in mind while waiting for some paint to arrive. I just checked back, and I last painted something about 9 years ago... And time had not been kind to my GW paints. I threw almost all of them out. Interestingly enough, I also had some Vallejo air colou...

Re: New to ToW. High Elves tournament!
I'm not as confident as the others that the meta will shift a lot with the upcoming Matched Play rules / balance changes. It's been fairly constant (for HE especially), that mobile, hard-hitting, precision lists tend to do best, despite the fact that we're an infantry focussed army... We'll see. A f...

Re: 2000pts Competitive List Attempt
I'd drop the BT and Eagles if I could get two pairs of Warlions as redirectors, but they are limited to 1 per 1k and one unit of 4 seems to easy to kill at range for their price and too few to seriously threaten most things. #-o Forgot the silly, 1 per 1k pts restriction on the Lions... #-o Sorry, ...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
Got my Flamespire phoenix assembled. For a first for me, I decided to magnetize the rider, so I could have both a ridden and unridden version of him. Currently, he isn't very good, so I'm hoping next edition he'll be awesome! And it's nice to have options. Also, I just liked experimenting with the m...

Re: 2000pts Competitive List Attempt
How many wounds is a Duke on Royal Pegasus? Why does nobody ever comp the crazy good Bret stuff? Our dragon lords lose half their magic budget, and Bret Lords have an even better time on the board. They lose nothing. I suspect the folks writing these comps are Bretonnian spies. I think it's because...

Re: 2k Competitive attempt at a Seaguard Garrison list
Just one question: what keeps the SGCs evasive from working on skycutters? On the top of my head I couldn't think of a specific reason. But I don't get to play a lot, so I might be overlooking something. It specifically mentions it in the Accomplished Archers rule, which grants the Evasive Rule to ...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
The difference between the newer Sisters compared to the old Maiden Guard is noticable. The main issue for me isn't so much the size difference. The newer models look a bit like weightlifters or bodybuilders next to the lithe and elegant older models. Thanks for the comparison picture. Certainly a ...

Re: Woodsmen update
I think the two biggest things I learned about working with greenstuff are that it doesn't stick to wet tools (or wet fingers...). Simply dip your sculpting tool in water and you're good to go. And, sometimes you want your greenstuff to harden just a bit when sculpting it. Not all the way of course....

Re: Favourite Elven Honours Builds?
The base problem is that any combat infantry character is too squishy... You name the reason people avoid Loremaster right in this post. "If combat infantry characters were better", they aren't. Pretty much this. There is very little reason to bring a prince on foot. And people are giving...

Yesterday I ordered the classic nobles. "Order delivered in 188 working days" lol I had the same when I placed my order (just before posting here...). However, I've since received an email that my order is actually on the way and should get here in about a week's time... So you might get ...

Re: Balance Update - New Updates April
If all our infantry units effectively get an extra attack, then that's definitely a boost. Not sure if it's enough. But at least if points don't change, then they get a lot more powerful. The others look odly specific and I'm not sure they matter all that much. Max unit size of 40 I'm not sure makes...

Re: Cathay Confirmed!!!
Thanks for confirming :) We'll see. One thing I do find interesting is that the rumored balance update is probably too late to figure into any new rules for second edition. As in, they can't wait a few months to see the overall reception to them and how they play out and take that into account for a...

Re: Cathay Confirmed!!!
That's very soon indeed. Looks like GW is hurrying The Old World along. Rumor is they have already green lit 2nd Ed, and it’s coincidentally go follow the same release cadence as Horus Heresy. Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me. They're not confusing them with the rumored balance update / matched...

Re: 2000 competitive with no monsters
Most of the time I just lose my Great Eagles, I am not sure how to use them as redirectors to full effect. Any advice here? If your Eagles are attracting attention from your opponent, then they're doing their job. I would much rather have my opponent shoot at a GE than at a unit of Sisters for inst...

Re: Favourite Elven Honours Builds?
I think the general consensus is that the honours are thematic, but not all that great for what they offer. Mostly people take them to get access to a mount option. My opinion on them: Loremaster: Level 1 mages are terrible. They have trouble meeting the casting value of spells, only get 1 spell, ar...

Seriously, the stormweaver on unicorn is about as appealing as a piece for the shelf as it is for the battlefield Indeed, if it wasn't labeled as a high elf miniature I would have never guessed it to be part of the range. Re: Balance Update - New Updates April
It's hard to say how this will play out for High Elves. Since we're an infantry based army, it might make more of our stuff better and worth taking. Could very well be that all our infantry units are buffed and we end up with a top tier army. On the other hand, our tournament lists currently rely on...

Re: The army of Spires; assembly time
At the moment I'm playing the Old World. I've also played both 7th and 8th edition. I find that TOW rules are fine for casual play. They really feel like a bunch of fans hoor together at GW HQ and decided to create rules for fantasy during their lunch break. Not perfect by any means, but fun. The bo...

Re: Ideas to take down TK dragon
The issue with monster slayer is (as far as I know) it still needs to rerolled, so that's a 1/36 chance now. Slightly better, since you get more than 1 attack. 1/36 is about 2.8%. However, you get 2.6 hits (out of 4 attacks), which means that on average you end up with 0.07 wounds. Not very good, b...

Re: 1500pts Sea Dragon List
I think I'd indeed rather just have another lvl4 archmage than access to Dark Magic in many situations. A lvl3 with no way to boost it's casting will suffer in a tournament environment. And while planning your strategy only on getting certain spells cast is never a good idea, but with a lvl3 it's mo...
