Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
strictly Tzeentch Interesting. Horrors-only is probably the strongest way to go with Core, even just adding a couple of Heralds on Metal yields an excellent magic phase. Flamers can be very useful shooters, especially against elves. The issue is lack of combat punch. The Lord of Change can help wit...

Re: Warhammer Armies Project: a search for experience.
We decided to take some magic items, heroes and units we usually don't take, to try them out or just for being nice, Good call and sometimes that surprisingly reveals more interesting or flat out stronger options in some areas. stormfiends, How do these perform in WAP? I was too enthusiastic and av...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
Since it is obviously a rare occurence for a target to have both a ward save and a superior Regeneration save, and suffer wounds from both Flaming Attacks and non-flaming attackings on the same initiative Interestingly, it's highly relevant to my games! I'm playing Daemons,a very powerful and hence...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
This is similar to interpreting spells being "cast successfully" as only rolling equal to or higher than their casting value, regardless of whether they are dispelled or not. No action or effect is successful until it has been resolved in its entirety, including any saves our counters, or...

Re: Split Profiles and Always Strikes First
I suggest you too take a good look at the basic rules of combat and wounding in the Shooting and Close Combat chapters. I did Minion X and i now tend to agree with you! My read suggests that a model (and hence the unit for Regen purposes) is 'wounded' once the roll gets past toughness. Thus Regen i...

Well here are the Plague Toads. Not amazing but they took me forever. I hope Seredain won't mind my posting them here as an example of the horrors he's fighting!

Re: Crossing Swords
List Implications I was happy with the new unit, the Plague Toads. The Hover rule means they are flyers that can't march but for my purposes, being able to lurk at a long charge distance is the key thing. Yes their charge was held and after a while they died but killing the High Elf BSB was impress...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Meanwhile, I feel like the eagle is almost neither one thing nor the other. It’s more expensive than a horse and as vulnerable to getting shot as the griffon, The griffon is a Monster and hence with the rider the model has six wounds overall. An eagle rider is Monstrous Cavalry, so only has three. ...

Re: Crossing Swords
Hi SA, Ave! Thanks for the great write up. Without you recording these events they would fade for me into a haze of emails, child-raising and national holidays. You're most welcome sir. A strange battle in that the turning point apparently happened in the opening shooting phase! I think that this w...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
Good idea but I have to drop the Razor Standard for that. I feel Razor is more important than Swooping Strike or the Ring (you do generate six spells). Hard to count on getting Wildform off when you need it against good armour. So in both cases I can hope to roll a good spell, or a double, ending w...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
How about this? It's the Griffon Brothers! That is wild. Compared to Seredain's list you're scaling back the main block and ceding an RBT but that third, powerful, monster must allow you to be more aggressive. It's a bit risky but I'd be tempted to put a 4+ Ward on one Mage and put him in the PG wi...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
I feel a second Lvl 2 on the same Lore with Dispel Scroll and a magic ring would be respectable. Adding a third Mage could make it quite tasty.

Turn 6 20230609_200458.jpg The Prince joined the Spears and the Griffon flew up to the enemy building. The Archers replaced the Phoenix Guard in the tower. The emerging PG were joined by the Frostheart. Magic and shooting whiffed except for Convocation reducing the last Plaguebearer to ash. 2023060...

the champion I have had for over 30, and I have multiple copies of that miniature. It's a great model. I had two but used the head from one for my Prince! That's an interesting observation that I will keep in mind while building army lists... Seredain has had success with this unit almost since the...

Re: A new painting blog - Airbrush challenge
command unit Interesting how this features 3rd, 4th and 6th edition models! Especially as the archers themselves seem almost proto-3rd to my eye. Splendid unit MoN. 24 with full command Facing this unit, I'm finding it's not worth the considerable effort required to kill it so it just sits there pl...

Hi all Welcome sir. :) I haven't played WFB since I played 6th edition Dark Elves as a youngin. Kudos, that was not the easiest edition in which to play Dark Elves. Has anyone tried Zenithal airbrushing with their High Elves? Unfortunately I know nothing about this but hopefully one of the guys can...

Re: Crossing Swords
Unlucky. To be fair MoN, I think that's the first time the Skillcannon's misfired in my games with Seredain! I believed the misfire table worked like the Ogre Ironblaster one but couldn't find it in the book. So we 4+'d it and only the gun was destroyed not the entire model. I later checked the Dae...

Turn Five (continued) The Lord of Change grudgingly decided to conserve his forces. The BSB and Beasts retreated and the Flamers and Herald of Slaanesh ran off to hide. The doomed Plaguebearers were pushed sacrificially on, two more of them succumbing to the flames. The Skillcannon misfired, destro...

A narrow Elven win Congratulations! Stormvermin, with all the characters in it were overwhelmed by the Sea Monster, broke, fled an were overrun. That were a banner, a BSB and two points for the general. I take it the damage inflicted by shooting was critical here? The Merwyrm appears a bit of a sta...

Turn Four (continued) The Daemonettes charged the Sister again. Flamers moved round the side of the Spears and the Furies flew in to block the PG. The wounded BSB left the Plaguebearers (who continued to backpedal) to escape Convocation. Somewhat unkindly, the Lord of Change left the PB's to burn, ...
