Turn Five 20230421_185433.jpg Phoenix Guard charged the Flamer. The Prince left the Archers, who reformed. The Silver Helms moved further away for safety. Turn Three (continued) 20230421_172552.jpg Having provided a distraction with the Flesh Hounds, I now moved up with my combat units, the Beasts in particular projecting charge threat. The Hounds moved backwards. They'd die but it would pull the Frostheart and Helms further from my push. The Furies ...

Re: 2400pts HE vs Skaven
I didn't vanguard the Reavers, seeing no need to do so. My opponent didn't activate the stormbanner this turn. Touché! Dragon and frostheart move to the center in front of the hill. Did you consider a more aggressive move with the Dragon Rod? I cast a Big fireball with 6-dice on the Abomb. My oppon...

Turn Three The Archers swift reformed to target the Flamers and more importantly to block the Hounds' path to the RBT. Across flew the Frostheart and the Silver Helms edged around the flank. 20230421_165546.jpg The Winds of Magic blew strong but the Archmage had no good target for Fiery Convocation...

Re: Crossing Swords
Thanks guys. I think the play so far is showing the importance of a main combat unit (given we're not running proper MSU). The Beasts are good but not strong enough to just push forward blindly. The PG almost are but are taking time to arrive and other combat elements largely need to wait for them. ...

The truly evil thing here for me is WS 4. You think that's a bad thing. Then you realise that yes it's more misses than WS 5 but with the re-rolls it's also more chances to roll 6's for Poison.taldarinzphoenix wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 3:59 pmlooking at a witch elf statblock is misleading too.

Re: 2400pts HE vs Skaven
I decided to go for fun and whacky rather than the strongest list out there, which is why you'll find the Dragon Mage in there. Boo! Bring out the filth! Seriously, I get that your characters might not stand up at the highest level Rod. They're very interesting though and I think entirely strong en...

Re: 3000pt High Elf List
Ouch! :( It sounds like you were making some progress against the support units, despite the outrageous saves of the Warlocks. Also that the Witch Elf combat came too soon, before you had a chance to threaten it's flanks or get a cast of Convocation off. I get that the sheer insanity of that deathst...

Turn Two Unimpressed, the Phoenix Guard ground forwards toward the tower. The Archers advanced down from their hill and were joined by the Prince. That spot was now taken by the regrouping Silver Helms. Griffon BSB edged forwards to exert charge threat. A low winds roll saw the Archmage cast a mode...

Spells and Deployment The Lord of Change rolled a good spread. He had Searing Doom, Plague of Rust, Enchanted Blades and especially Final Transmutation, one of the few tools I had against the fearsome Phoenix Guard. The Horrors rolled Pink Fire which I kept to improve selection for the Herald. He g...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
I played against a skaven plague (with furnace) list last week. And stalling the plague furnace unit for a turn helped me win the game. More on this please Rod! Why does the Griffon BSB get the BotWD? Is the 2+ against magical stuff worth it compared to bringing more items? Griffon has no other sav...

Gateway of Doom 20230421_204035~2.jpg So last month I revisited The Cavalry Prince's abode for a rematch, again at 2500pts. Re: High Elves in challenges
I may have missed it but is the fact that a Vamp Lord often carries the Other Trickster's Shard factored in here? Also, is he on foot or mounted (and hence likely rocking a 1+ AS). In general I feel Star Dragon works best. World Dragon also, unless your opponent tailors and leaves his magic sword at...

Re: Crossing Swords
The double lvl2 metal mages are unusual. I'm not sure they're worth it. Somehow the lore always feels a bit "Meh" to me. Too many spells in there that are situational. Then again, in this list, magic isn't really a focus, so it matters less. And it does help deal with armored opponents so...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports
Project Griffon It's now a Thing! People are stuck with core and can take redirectors from there if they need. I'm coming round to this way of thinking. Move up the spears with impunity, tilt them at an angle which gives you a flank charge in the event that the enemy takes the bait. This kind of po...

It was the London Legends GT in London, UK. A 2 day tournament for about 40ish people. I won 2, drew 1, and lost 2, so perfectly average. Solid. Any more events coming up? I missed out on the best painted army award, that rightfully went to a beautiful skaven army. Your army is stunning so those Sk...

The battle looks stunning. I really should get myself a better table and battlemat... Props to my host for that. Also an interesting battle. I would favor the elves at this point, mainly because the PG unit is still largely intact, and they're tough buggers to deal with. And you're not in a situati...
