Re: A New Blog

I do rate the doom diver much higher than the BT's so my comment still stands. Yeah, it's excellent. For 3 BT's you could get a doom diver and MR 2 (just need to find the remaining 5 points somewhere) I've had some thoughts in general about list revisions which I'll revisit in a longer post soon. O...

Re: A New Blog

Thanks for the interesting report. Thanks Eli. Very close after turn 1 - another good round of magic or shooting for the O&G, even just taking down the eagle, and the result could have been very different. Of course, the close games are the best! I feel luck was about even in this game. The sma...

Re: Warhammer: The Old World

Another interesting update, both for the eventual tabletop game and Total War Warhammer III. I agree Eli, very interesting. They don't appear to explicitly mention the upcoming tabletop game but it seems a no-brainer that they'd develop in tandem. Quite impressed with this Andy Hoare so far, let's ...

Re: A New Blog

To come back I think you'd need some very lucky shooting, a big magic phase and the phoenix needs to be down asap. Well Rod, I did get one of those things. And when the Warboss is gone - which is soon - the trolls will remain there drooling and doing nothing Prophetic MoN, though it was slightly mo...

SA - thank you for brainstorming this list with me! And for opening the door to the Magic Star Dragon! I've got your back dude. There was a famous song from the sixties (a decade I freaking lived in ) called Puff the Magic Dragon! The Chaos Dwarf list looks plausible, I just feel your opponent shou...

What about the doom diver? Although it must have done nothing if you did not mention it. Yes. There's still 3 heavy hitters on both sides, with one of them depleted. Perhaps I should have been more aggressive this turn Rod. After losing 1/3 of the Big'Uns last turn though, I didn't fancy taking a c...

Re: The Cavalry Prince - List Design, Tactics, Battle Reports

I have to confess I have no idea whatsoever about what the Chaos Dwarfs are like. Few people have the book because it was huge, damn expensive and not habitually stocked in GW shops. It’s awesome though, so atmospheric and a great credit to it’s author, the late Alan Bligh. The dwarfs are basically...

Seredain’s eyes snapped open Welcome...to the real world. 8) Game 1 against Chaos Dwarfs is coming up. Comments welcome! So your foe seems to have a Hellcannon, a Magma Cannon and one other war machine. Two blocks of Chaos Dwarfs and two of Hobgoblins plus some Wolf Riders. Interested to see which ...

Well now that they've actually said what it's actually supposed to be I'm much more interested. Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn

Some of that is down to still being relatively new to the game and certainly my unfamiliarity with Bretonnians, so I look forward to playing the matchup again and learning how to play it better. Bretonnians are rarely seen and do have their own distinctive playstyle, so this makes a lot of sense. W...

The Reavers bravely sacrificed themselves to kill one of the Manglers. In the centre, the Phoenix Guard marched rapidly forwards, followed up by the Eagle and flanked by the Archers and Silver Helms (slightly further back). The Phoenix swung across to block off the Wolf Riders. Magic saw Fiery Convo...

Just curious about interest in GW's plans to go back to warhammer fantasy and back it up a few hundred years from the end times. Personally Nicanor, I'm now very interested. There's a fair bit of discussion on it here: https://ulthuan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=74707 However... I'm torn abou...

Turn One The Wolf Riders Vanguarded first and came forward a few inches, the Reavers reciprocating. Despite Seredain’s +1, I won the roll-off and began. My cavalry raced forwards to threaten the High Elf flank. The Beasts advanced to the wood while the Big’Uns wheeled inwards slightly. Both Mangler...

Yeah, it was a double-edged sword dropping my machines first. On the plus side they were in generally sensible places and they might make certain routes less attractive for Seredain’s forces. On the downside, careful moves on his part would avoid the worst of the bolt shooters’ fire. Secondly, the p...

Re: Fitzlock's High Elves - The Glittering Host of Avelorn

On that note, any general tips for facing Bretonnians? Watch out for very long charges from the Lances. There’s at least one Virtue that gives +D6" on the first charge. It can be worth dropping an Eagle or two in front of enemy characters just to trigger this. Also the Falcon Horn, stops all e...

Possibly the greatest issue for the HE list is that it only has 2 redirectors / disposable units. They can step on the manglers to take them out, but that would leave the trolls free to roam the field. Alternatively, they could block the trolls, which would keep a large part of your army in place, ...

Still, it does show that a team game tournament has very different dynamics compared to a 1-v-1 tournament. Agreed Rod.
